You’re Fired – Behind the Scenes! And Devon Project revealed

What a busy week! Was in the audience of The Apprentice You’re Fired. I know who lost – but if I told you I’d have to kill you! Haha! Actually by the time this goes out I can talk about it, so see below… Plus, have found a great way of getting over my old Patchy dog dying, by looking at old videos of her life – including a couple with the choccies when they were pups! See below.

And – BIG NEWS – the Devon Project… all is revealed…

Hired or Fired? Guess which I said?

Having been a regular for several years in the studio audience of The Apprentice spin off, I was delighted to be given priority tickets from lovely Nick at Lost in TV (where you register to be in all kinds of studio audiences) as he felt sorry for me not making the week before when Patchy was ill. So off we trotted, my ‘theatre-going-pal’ Sara and I, to London Studios near Waterloo. We lined up outside next to a wall covered in the hands of the famous, these are Stephen Fry and Graham Norton’s. I love seeing the next episode early, the first in the country to see the one that went out last night (Thurs 13th). And I like seeing all the non-broadcastable comments made by the panel, and comparing them with the edit that finally goes out straight after the main show, on BBC2. Rhod Gilbert is a good host – very funny off air too. Grace Dent is always good value and the other two were interesting too. I must admit though, the candidate who was actually fired in week two after the jeans advertising task, was really weak to watch – she’d never even watched the show in the past, and didn’t have much idea who many of the others were when asked her thoughts on them, as it was obviously a long time ago. Good luck to her with her salon in Glasgow tho – that’s obviously a success but The Apprentice just wasn’t for her. Watch the series on catch up here.

Did you see it?  What did you think? There was a time I’d have loved to take part – when I was away from QVC, but not now. I’m about to embark upon my own ‘task’ anyway…

Ps this is what I raised, ‘YOU’RE HIRED’ – not ‘cos she was particularly great, but because there were others I’d have preferred to see fired – like the boy’s project manager who basically mucked it all up! IMO! And of course previous Apprentice winner Tom Pellereau is reaping rewards still, including with his own range sold here on QVC! Find his range of nail care products here!

The Devon Project

OK so the word is out! My new Devon Project is that I will be moving down to Devon half the week (the other half still in London and at QVC!) helping out at Retreats for You! The trade-off is being able to have my dogs there and giving up the little cottage I moved into a year ago temporarily. I’ll be living nearby – it’ll be nice to be back on the property ladder again too. SO – last weekend the family and I went back down to help ‘make good’ an outside workshop for storage of some stuff, and very hard they worked too! We all did, actually – look at how many steps I did on one day!

My pal Alix, pictured in the studio above, came down to say hi and bring some homemade cake, and then we had help from Deborah who owns it, and Tom who lives nearby, so I treated everyone to a takeaway supper on Saturday night! When they’d gone I videoed this –

Talking of cake, if I can one day take it over and set up a vintage tea rooms, that’d be my dream – regulars will know how much I have loved running my own at charity fetes and also going to them! Lol. So I will keep you informed over the next few months about how it’s all going as I learn how to run a retreat and help renovate a little.

Shabby Chic works, tho,’ so there won’t be too many changes. I didn’t go looking for it, by the way. I’d just got fed up with three wearisome aspects of living in my cottage (loses sunshine early – bad in the winter, bad broadband and a fast 60mph road, mainly, plus lounge is tiny and parking is not close. Garden is lovely but so will the new one be where I am living.) And no, I’m not intending to drop any days at QVC! I love my job too much…

Tarte Today’s Special Value Tonight! (Fri 14th)

Talking of which, here’s the early bird order link for the Tarte TSV I’m launching tonight – can’t wait to see Leigh again with this amazing fast-growing brand. There’s a super low down of what is in it from award winning blogger and pal Sharon on her Tarte blog on her website here, and I’ll be doing an Early Bird Facebook live post tonight at 11pm on our QVCUK Facebook page here too. The set is fabulous and a really great deal, given it’ll be around £70 when it’s at regular pricing.

Cozeeeee! Plus am really excited to be one of the presenters bringing you  the new Cozee Homes heated throw (like an electric blanket but it goes over you not under!) Do join us for this on Tuesday – and if any left, with me at 10pm!

Inspirational Authors – stand by for a new star! As you know, writing pal Joanna Cannon who wrote Sunday Times bestseller ‘the Trouble with Goats and Sheep’ had a journey aspiring authors dream of. Well, another one is in the offing! If you love reading success stories, especially ones that will involve lots of marketing and publicity, in other words, they’re expecting great things, then go here to read about my pal AJ and her first deal for her superb wartime series Dear Mrs Bird. There’s hope for me yet! Lol.

Book Update Ref my own works, I managed to finally submit the first draft of the brand new updated ‘Till the Fat Lady Slims – ‘Break Free from Food Prison’ book which my publisher Choc Lit are going to be getting in WHSmith Travel outlets in the new year! Looking forward to editing stage, with fabbie editor Jane Eastgate again (who edited my first romance novel Take a Chance on Me. Too.) I’ve made it the subject of the new book blog on my website so if you’d like to find out about the other versions of TTFLS do go here to RiWiSi blog!

TTFLS Successes – Unusual Side Effect The other thing that’s been very pleasing has been the results being reported on our online support group (find my social media links here). Eileen said she found watching sad scenes on telly has even changed because of learning not to bottle everything up – Freedom Living, eh? There will be a whole new section about that in the new version of TTFLS too. See bottom for more.

Charity Sing-song in Chiswick – which song? Looks like I’ll be singing this one – always a favourite! Along with another all-time classic – can you guess which one? It’s the theme tune on a super advert at the moment…

Blooper  – how funny was this archive one from a couple of years ago – probably there are better ways of describing a colour!

Also if you missed seeing my old CBBC colleague Phillip Schofield ‘losing it’ on TV this week, click here!

Facebook Funny – there ain’t nothin’ funnier than this in terms of cat-funnies! I actually laughed out loud a lot when watching this so had to include it!

Facebook Funny 2 – X Factor? How funny is this? Uncanny likeness!! Lol.

Watch Well as you can guess I’ve been tied up with packing, arranging new stuff for the move and finishing my submission of TTFLS so I didn’t get to go to the cinema this week. Instead, here’s a super reminder of what went out on the BBC last week, lovely presenter and fellow ambassador Kate Humble explains in heart-felt terms, just what Medical Detection Dogs can do to help change lives – in lots of ways. Watch here!

And do read the latest updates on my website charity page here. Don’t forget if you can, to subscribe to the regular newsletter I email out – I’ve been putting the Early Bird order links on there too! Plus if you want to see my regular ‘vlogs’ – little video blogs I post on my official Facebook page, ‘like’ it here.

Newsletter – look at these cute pics of Patchy and puppies! Isn’t it lovely to look back and remember when the pogs were small? Well this has to be one of the most adorable videos I’ve ever recorded, showing what a lovely kind, gently dog my old late Labrador Patchy was. Here she is around six years ago, spritely and having fun. It does warm my heart to remember her and her mummy Holly this way!

Go here to read more and see more – I’ve unearthed a lot, including in the snow! Plus find out what made my week this week – #easilypleased! Lol. And if it pleases you too, you may find some in stock here on our website!

This week on QVC – apart from Saturday (15th)’s Tarte Today’s Special Value – see above – and the Cozee Homes TSV heated throw on Tuesday –

–          Sunday sneaky peek of Samsung TSV TV! OMG this one is amazing! Curved, 4k, smart TV, brilliant value as ever – they usually sell out early so go here to get it using the early bird link!

–          Wed – Judith Williams 5pc Lifelong Beauty set – a bumper bundle for around £40 from our German queen of affordable effective beauty.

–          Carole Hochman Lace print micro fleece 3 pc PJ’s – join me Wed at midnight for the launch of the new winter warmers from our comfy nightwear range.

–          Friday – Vitamix is back!

–          Sneaky peeks from the weekend – and go here to see the Early Bird order links as soon as they are available, for the Skechers mid-3-button boot with faux fur trim, Saturday 22nd TSV, plus Sunday 23rd’s Liz Earle Ultimate Botanical Beauty gift set!

What a fab week of gift ideas!

Next week – what will the specialist say about my ‘rare genetic condition’? I’m curiously quite fascinated to find out what he will say about how to help treat the EPP I was recently diagnosed with – after 52 years of suffering in not-quite-silence whenever I’m too long in the sun! And the other type of son – catching up with Bradley. Have a great week!

PPS – Here’s another fab post from my Till the Fat Lady Slims book’s support group on Facebook –

Eileen D says –

NSV – (non-scales victory)- Watching Cold Feet just now I choked as Pete stood on the precipice. Out loud I said no,no, don’t do it. The boy dog who was in his bed in another room shot through the door and kissed me. The tears escaped and I let them. Why is this an NSV? As a child TV viewing was passive and quiet. Any hint of a giggle or sob was mocked mercilessly – possibly why I still love sitting in the cinema in the dark. So tonight with the lights on watching a comedy drama I didn’t self edit. .. Boy dog bear hugged me through my sobs until the moment passed. Freedom eating = emotional freedom”

Fabulous news isn’t it, from yet more ladies finding the support from TTFLS and Freedom Eating is really helping on their weight loss journey. I say to anyone who wants to give it a try, to read ‘Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 – the ‘When’ Diet’ book first, which is like the one which sold out in signed hardback on QVC last year. Plus book 3.0 with more tips and tales to inspire. The whole picture and links are here on my webpage.
