The season of sunshine, socialising and sangria is almost here! We’ve been hard at work preparing our summer fashion range for our wonderful QVC customers, and we hope you’ll love it as much as we do.
The idea behind a capsule wardrobe is to choose just a few good quality pieces that you can mix and match to your heart’s content. This premise works so well for summertime, when we’d all rather be spending long evenings outdoors rather than frantically trying to put together an outfit that matches for the next day. Take a look at our 15 (well, maybe 16) top picks below, and let us know in the comments if we’ve missed anything that would be on your must-have list.
Seeing as we don’t live in what anyone would describe as a tropical climate, there’s a good chance we can wear our jeans year-round. These slim-fit Ruth Langsford jeans can be easily brightened up for picnics, barbeques, and all other delicious summer activities with a kick-ass kaftan like this one from Susan Graver.
Embroidery is big this season, so we’ve gone for two pieces that nail the trend and add an instant splash of cool to whatever they’re paired with. Daisies are our favourite summer flower so we adore this Quacker Factory shirt. The silky texture of the Bonnie Day bomber jacket is a welcome wardrobe addition after all of those heavy winter coats.
Building a capsule wardrobe doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice statement pieces. A pair of flowing cropped trousers, like these from MarlaWynne are a fab choice for days when you’re not sure if it’s going to rain or shine and the splash of detail sets them apart from the crowd. Similarly, these Bronx trainers in a solid colour can be teamed with prints galore, but the rose gold metallic tone makes them bang on trend for the season.
We can’t talk enough about how much we love separates that earn their place in our wardrobes for their versatility. The cross-over detail at the back of this Nick Verreos T-shirt elevates it from wardrobe basic to wardrobe must-have. It will look as spectacular tucked into this flirty skirt from Ghost as it will over your jeans.
A capsule wardrobe wouldn’t be complete without the perfect accessories. Picture yourself lounging on a tropical beach (well, maybe the local park is more realistic) in this Pia Rossini fedora. Looks good, doesn’t it? As we’re likely to experience rain, sun, wind and more all in one day, we love a sizable bag such as this Radley beauty. It will fit your sun cream, umbrella, book, lunch and anything else Mary Poppins would be proud of.
And finally, we can’t forget those pops of colour. The cat-eye shape of these Ruby Rocks sunglasses is flattering to all face shapes. If you’re heading our for the evening, a hot pink Lulu Guinness clutch will complete your outfit. It will also match beautifully with these outstanding tassel earrings, which we love so much we had to include them in two colours. Which do you prefer, the hot pink or a sunshine yellow?
