I mentioned on last week’s blog that there would be a MEGA competition prize in celebration of QVC UK’s 25th Birthday…. I wasn’t joking! I have put together a collection of products from twenty-five of our QVC beauty brands and they will come packed in a pair of Amanda Holden Bundleberry trunks in the Blush colour. All the information on how to enter this giveaway will come later in my blog.
But first, talking of Amanda Holden, the look-back year this week is October 2016 – October 2017, which is when Amanda launched her Bundleberry range of products on QVC. Ruth Langsford had already joined us, presenting her Fashion Edit shows with Jackie Kabler. In fact, when we were on air together last weekend, Ruth mentioned she was celebrating two years with us… time flies! As an aside, I hope those of you who ordered Ruth’s TSV jumper last weekend love it as much as I do. All we need now are some cooler temperatures to enjoy it and that is more or less a given in this country.
I’ve only done a few shows with Ruth and a couple with Amanda, but they are both a joy to work with – it feels like you’re having a chat with a girl friend and the hours seem to whizz by. Speaking of girl friends, I couldn’t resist sharing this photo of Amanda exiting the studio with one of her chairs, which was to be a gift for a very famous friend of hers who has fairly recently celebrated her 50th birthday. The funny thing was, she had to bring it back, as she had two further shows on Wednesday and they would have had nothing to sit on!!
This picture with Ruth was one of her now infamous lift selfies, which she takes after her Fashion Edit shows on Thursday evenings and usually posts on Instagram. I’ve always loved this pic, as it looks like the model, Catherine, is pretending to be a monkey.
Ruth is so involved with everything QVC and she is also very supportive of us as individuals, often liking and commenting on Instagram posts. She even sent me this picture of her reading one of my books on holiday last summer – honestly, it really was her knees. I may have some really exciting book news for you soon, so do follow me on Twitter @Julia RobertsTV and on Instagram @juliagroberts if you don’t want to miss it.
The other big news for QVC that year was a change right at the very top of QVC UK. Rob Muller joined us as our new CEO, only the fourth CEO we have had in twenty-five years, which is pretty amazing I think. He will be hosting a gathering for those of us who have served twenty and twenty-five years with the company on October 1st, so I’ll try and remember to take some photos on the night to put on here.
Tomorrow is my brother’s birthday and also Craig Rowe’s (I always remember it because of my brother), but it is also World CML (chronic myeloid leukaemia) Day. It is marked on the 22nd September because the disease is caused by the bottom of chromosomes 22 and 9 breaking off and swapping places. September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month and I have to say huge strides have been made in the treatment and survival rates of all types of blood cancer over the past fifteen years or so. This is largely thanks to research as a result of funds raised by blood cancer charities, one of which is Cure Leukaemia. My friend and former Crystal Palace footballer, Geoff Thomas, who himself narrowly survived CML after a stem cell transplant, is very involved with Cure Leukaemia and has a huge fundraiser next Thursday, where they are hoping to raise half a million pounds in a day with the backing of Deutsche Bank – let’s hope they do it, because the groundbreaking treatments currently being used for blood cancer may eventually prove to be life-saving in many other types of cancer.
So, having whet your appetite earlier in my blog, I guess it’s *COMPETITION TIME*. In order to win the beauty goodies pictured, including the likes of Percy and Reed, Tarte, Perricone MD and SBC, in the Bundleberry trunks, in total worth well over £500, all you need to do is answer this simple question:
What do the letters QVC in our brand name actually stand for? Is it:
A) Quality Vast Creations
B) Quite Varied Customers
C) Quality Value Convenience
To enter, leave your answer in a comment here on my blog before midnight on the 30th September and the winner will be announced live on air at around 2pm on our birthday, October 1st. Good luck, and although there can only be one winner, a huge thank you to each and every one of you for continuing to shop with us.
Well, I hope your weekend will get off to a better start than mine. I have had a dull toothache for the past six weeks as a result of which, I have to have a tooth out first thing tomorrow morning. Don’t laugh, but it’s because my mouth is too small for all my teeth making it difficult to clean between them, despite using a sonic toothbrush! What with that and my knee, my sickness bug and the summer flu just before holiday, and several other ailments I won’t bore you with, I’ll be quite happy to see the end of 2018 health-wise!
Before I go, remember to redeem your vouchers if you earned them – you only have until the end of September, so check our website for the Ts & Cs.
