With the month of June offering a flat postage charge on anything from our beauty department of just £1.95, I thought it was a great opportunity to stock up on some things that I just have to have for both my wife and I. The only problem is, and it is a high-class problem to have, there is so much in store!
But I thought I should list the recent things that I have ordered and share the reasons why I think they’re so good.
Having spoken to so many beauty experts and realising the importance of a thorough beauty regime, I think everyone can agree that cleansing is the first – and perhaps the most important – step in any good skincare routine.
I’ve used all types of cleansers and I’ve loved the iconic Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser from Liz Earle for a number of years, but lately I’ve been using the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, which I find to be not only thorough but very suitable for my skin. I tend to have a bit of a greasy forehead and T-zone, and this helps balance my face and yet remove all of, what I consider, heavy make-up that we need for TV.
We have a special offer on the new, limited edition neroli-scented Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, which is great value and available with free P&P as our Beauty Pick of the Month for June!
I’ve been very interested in tackling the issue of smile lines! I remembered first noticing the deep creases around my father’s eyes, and now when I look in the mirror I can more or less see exactly what he looked like, and I can also hear my mother’s words in my ears: “you’re just like your father!”
He never used any skincare, but I’ve always been very interested in looking after my skin. I first began moisturising nearly 40 years ago with Anita Roddick’s Body Shop products. My eye product of choice at the moment is the Orexellence Energy Concentrate Youth Eye Care from Decleor, and I love the way that it not only feels as it quickly absorbs, but also the way it makes me look less haggard and tired after all my early morning show starts! That’s gotta be good!
I’ve also been trying out the forthcoming Today’s Special Value from Decleor (available to purchase right now!), which is a wonderful combination of nature’s finest oils and extracts combined as only Decleor can do. It has the perfect trio for daytime and night time and it really is a very pleasurable way to combat that fatigue that shows in your skin.
In the set there is 15ml of Aromessence Green Mandarin Serum, which is a 100% natural origin daily serum, with citrus essential oils professionally blended to revive the skin’s glow and help to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Just three drops a day is enough to give a daily boost of energy and an instant glow. This can be used day and night.
To lock in that hydration during the day we have the very special 50ml Green Mandarin Sun-Kissed Cream. A day cream to moisturise, help to improve the appearance fine lines and wrinkles while giving an immediate even sun-kissed glow to all skin types. It looks a bit dark in the pot but when you use it it seems to adapt very well to anyone’s skin tone. It has blend of citrus essential oils, natural hyaluronic acid and beta-carotene to reenergise tired-looking skin, while working to prevent early signs of ageing and provide a natural-looking healthy glow.
Then for night time we turn to what Decleor are the masters at…. a balm. Green Mandarin Night Balm is a 100% natural origin Night Balm with bee and carnauba waxes, and contains a blend of citrus essential oils providing an energy-boosting care to the skin throughout the night. I love it and it’s perfect for travelling as such a small pot lasts for ages. Use it with the wonderful oil and the difference is amazing. This is on special offer on Wednesday 12th June, but it’s available to purchase now, so get it now to guarantee your order!
Next target I had was my hair. I have been doing a lot of swimming lately and I’ve been in the pool and the lake so washing my hair on a regular basis has become quite important. I have noticed that my hairline is becoming a little patchy in places so I’ve started using Hairfix Follicle Max, but also choosing my shampoo carefully, and am currently using the L’Occitane Repairing Shampoo, not only because it represents great value (I love the refill) but also because it seems to allow me to wash my hair every day without drying it out.
Being an insulin-dependent diabetic means I have to take great care of my feet, and my product of choice for that is Margaret Dabbs Foot Hygiene Cream. It has all the right ingredients to keep the feet and heels soft and supple but it also keeps them hygienic, as the name would suggest, and I find that with all the exercise that I do this is particularly important. I really trust Margaret and her knowledge of looking after feet and bodies is second to none.
My wife has also just ordered the Perricone Cold Plasma+ Fragile Skin Therapy as she has spent a great deal of the time in Norway soaking up the sun, and now needs to address some of the issues that the UV rays have caused. It hasn’t arrived yet but shes’s looking forward to seeing its effects as the entire brand is amazing!
See ya soon,
