Well I’m sure by now most of you have seen Craig’s staring role on Saturday Night Takeaway, what a brilliant prank they played on Amanda Holden. It was such a well played out scenario but I have to say I’m not sure I could have kept as straight a face as Craig managed to. Blooming well done Craig! I’m sure he has lots to tell us about it in his next blog.
I on the other hand was back to bringing you your weekend Fashion Fix at 4 on Saturday and Sunday. It’s proving to be a popular show and a great way to discover brands that you haven’t already seen yet or to see brands you do know in a different light. If you haven’t seen it yet we have six models and outfits mixing brands and styles from all across QVC rather than having a whole hour on one brand. It’s always a fun show and we have a good giggle with all the models before the show while rehearsing how it will all run. It’s definitely one to tune in for. I hope you will if you haven’t yet.
Outside of QVC
When working at the weekends this obviously means I don’t get a full weekend of family time with Fred and the girls, so if we do have a window before I have to leave then we make sure we take it. So on Saturday morning before I left for QVC we headed down to the beach for a walk to the play park and a pit-stop for pizza! Gosh it’s cold at the moment, but the sky was so blue and the sun was shining so it was a fab morning and we had a lot of fun with the girls. I had my Centigrade coat to keep me warm and the girls even had me upside-down on the hammock swing!
What I’m wearing
It’s spring outerwear for you this week. Yes I know it’s about to snow in much of the country but that will pass and we will be looking ahead to warmer days before we know it. I saw this coat backstage and couldn’t resist on doing a few pictures as I think it’s incredibly stylish and yes a touch of ‘spy style’, I was pretending I was in Dick Tracey! The hat is by Pia Rossini and the brilliant trench coat is by Helene Berman. It’s going on my Wishlist for sure!
Next I have picked a great pair of earrings from Pilgrim. Since I have been working at QVC my attitude to earrings has changed drastically. I could easily have gone months or even a year without wearing earrings at all but I now get really excited about them and realise how much they can change an entire look. I am even considering getting a new piercing in my ears! It’s my birthday on Friday and I was toying with the idea of getting it done then! I wonder if I will chicken out.
What I’m cooking
Chilli Prawn Linguine
This is one of mine and Fred’s favourite week night dishes. It’s really quick and very tasty!
You’ll need for two people:
Pack of king prawns
Jar of sun dried tomatoes (or a pot of sun blush from the deli counter)
Clove of garlic
Tomato puree (or passata)
Fresh basil or dried
Put the linguine on to boil in a large saucepan. Heat a good pouring of oil in a frying pan on a medium heat and start frying chilli flakes or a teaspoon of ‘lazy chilli’ and a sliced clove of garlic. Then take the sun blush or sun dried tomatoes and roughly chop them and add them in with a little of the extra oil that comes with them and add to the frying pan.
After a few minutes add about a tablespoon of tomato puree (or if you prefer use passata) Add in fresh basil, or dried if that’s what you have. Follow with the king prawns. If you’ve used frozen, run them under water in a colander to help defrost them first. Cook until they are pink all the way through. Or if you have bought ready-cooked then that’s fine too, they won’t need as long to warm through!
Once the pasta is cooked drain and add to the pan to mix it all through. That is pretty much it! Serve in bowls and add a sprinkling of parmesan if you fancy it.
