Although back from a wonderful holiday, I’m technically still on annual leave, so I won’t be on air for Beauty Weekend, but I couldn’t let it slip by without mentioning it on here. I am a massive fan of many of the QVC beauty brands and I’ll give you a run down of my typical holiday beauty regime later in the blog.
The holiday to Mauritius was exactly what Chris and I needed after a massively busy year with all the house renovations. It was also the last time we would be celebrating the 19th January as our anniversary. This year marked forty-one years of living together but as from 27th August, we will have a new date to celebrate as our anniversary.
Actually, part of the reason for the trip to Mauritius (only booked on the Friday before we travelled on the Monday) was to do a bit of a recce to help us decide on our wedding location.
We have been once before, a year after my diagnosis with chronic myeloid leukaemia, and it was where the idea for my Liberty Sands trilogy of books originated. It’s obviously a creative place for me, as I now have the whole plot of my second book for my publisher’s, Bookouture, nailed which is just as well as the first draft has to be in by the end of April!
The weather was quite hot and humid and we did have rain on a few of the days, but the rest of the time it was gloriously sunny and I’m sure Ali Young will be pleased to hear I spent a lot of time in the shade scribbling notes or reading. I love reading, and don’t often have much time for it, so what a pleasure to consume almost three novels in the nine days we were away. As you can see here, I had a reading companion on our final day… don’t tell Wilfie!
As promised, here is a run down of my typical daily beauty routine on holiday – I’m sure you’ll recognise some of the products in the picture of our bathroom! It must have been a nightmare for the cleaners having to move that lot every day!
Shower and face wash as above
Apply Ultrasun Pre-Tan Optimiser (I still have some, although it is currently discontinued)
Face – Liz Earle Instant Boost (they have a TSV coming up next Sunday)
Decleor Eye and Aromessence Solaire, followed by L’Occitane Divine Cream
Despite all the sitting in the shade, I have come back with a good tan, no sunburn or peeling and well-moisturised skin.
Quite a few of the brands I have mentioned above will be featuring during our Beauty Weekend and it’s a good time to buy, as it’s £1.95 P&P for the whole event. The TSV on Saturday is a 3 Piece Volumizing Hair Collection from Tweak’d by Nature, and on Sunday it’s the LAB Mini Pro Lifting and Toning Device.
There are also four Premiere shows and the return of Algenist to QVC, as well as lots of your favourite brands.
As I mentioned at the top of this blog, I’m still on annual leave but my ‘holiday’ as such is over, as I have a lot of writing to do in the next few days. I’m next on air at 2pm on Thursday with Honora Pearls, followed by Fashion by Together at 3pm and Nina Leonard Fashion at 5pm – it will be the first time I’ll have seen Cate Bandel since our meet up in New York in November. We had been to see the New England Patriots play that day (my son’s team) and now they have qualified for the Superbowl against the odds… could they possibly win it on Feb 3rd?
Closer to home, good luck to all the teams in the next round of the FA Cup this weekend – in particular Crystal Palace.
See you next Thursday,
