It was great to get back into the swing of things at The Q and a great pleasure for Andi Peters and I to welcome Michel and Alain Roux to QVC for the first time. #AndisFoodFest fans will have to wait now until Christmas in July, when we’ll return with plenty more festive-flavoured treats. However, food fans can rest assured that we’ll have plenty more offerings between now and July 25th! You can always check what’s in stock anytime by visiting our food department.
There are always great shows for me to look forward to presenting and one in particular is at midday on the 1st June – Murano Glass Jewellery with fabulous Italian designer Francesca Randazzo. Francesca is passionate about her spectacular, colourful genuine Murano glass designs. On the day we’ll be featuring a new line-up within her range featuring ‘murrine’.
And you could be the lucky winner of a suite of this exquisite form of Murano glass jewellery. Francesca has generously donated a set comprising a necklace, bracelet and earrings, worth £133 to be offered as a competition prize ahead of her shows! The design is known as ‘murrina’ or ‘murrine’ (plural) and has also recently featured in a range by a high-end, globally-renowned designer range 😉 Simply put, the designs are timeless.
Murrine are coloured patterns or images made in a glass canes that are only revealed when the cane is cut into thin cross-sections. Murrine can be made in infinite designs from simple circular or square patterns to complex detailed designs to even portraits of people. One familiar style is the flower or star shape which, when used together in large numbers from a number of different canes is called millefiori and this design features in Francesca’s generous prize.
Murrine production first appeared in the Middle East more than 4,000 years ago and was revived by Venetian glassmakers on the famous Island of Murano in the early 16th century.
This competition has now ended.
For a chance of winning this stunning collection, all you have to do is leave a reply below including the words “Grazie Francesca” to be entered into the competition. The competition will run until the 1st June and full terms and conditions can be viewed here.
Good luck or as they might say on Murano “In bocca al lupo” or “Buona Fortuna”!
Until next time stay lucky and glamorous!
