Just a quick post-holiday blog! Returning from my summer break I fell straight into a midnight hour of glorious pies followed by two more hours the next day – I just can’t help myself when The Real Pie Company is in town – I just have to eat them! I wrote about our mouthwatering Today’s Special Value offer in my last blog, so I won’t go on but suffice to say they were delicious and it was a lovely welcome back to The Q after a couple of weeks away. I hope you managed a few days away yourselves and if not I hope we kept you suitably entertained.
I took my camera away with me and managed to get some lovely wildlife shots – I’ve featured a photo below of Great White Egrets and there are more for later.
Ali snapped this pic of me with a stunningly beautiful Macaw – he really got his claws into me! Big thanks to Abi Cleeve and Ultrasun for providing me with excellent sun protection whilst out for hours on my Spanish Safaris (I used the Sport SPF20). Absolutely brilliant!
Off to university
Well fortunately the exam results went well and now Mrs F and I find ourselves racing around trying to help two nervous but excited teenagers form themselves into university students! It always sounded so straightforward when I heard other parents talking about the stresses of their little darlings starting university and so I didn’t appreciate the impact it makes on both the prospective student and parents alike. It’ll obviously be a wrench for Tracey and I as we wave goodbye to both of them at the same time – I know at this point I’m supposed to pen some funny comment related to ‘freedom’ etc. but in truth we’ll miss them greatly and it’ll be a new phase in our lives also. I think both Ali and Jack are more concerned about missing the dogs rather than us though – as Jack put it “You and Mum know what’s going on” – I’m glad he sees it that way!
Toby and Ellie went on their hols to my mum’s and had a great time. They were obviously pleased to see us when we collected them but they made a whole new bunch of pals at mum’s local park. Mum told us that Ellie became particularly friendly with a Whippet and a Beardie/Lurcher Cross and, to her surprise, kept up with them during their frantic chase games together. She is like lightning, but her two pals are amongst the fastest around, so hats off to Ellie. Toby and my mum’s dog, Pixie, just watched and barked encouragement – Toby knows when he’s outgunned in the speed stakes.
Ellie made sure we didn’t forget her whilst we were packing the car.
Tracey and I also will be celebrating our 30th anniversary soon – I always consider myself so lucky that I was granted special permission to wed at just 10 years of age! More of that in the next blog!
Coming up on QVC UK this week
On Wednesday I return with a three-hour ‘Gem Fest’ with our charming and very knowledgeable gem expert, Mark Walker. I love working with Mark because, despite being involved with jewellery for 18 years now, I still learn at least one new fact when we present shows together. I hope you can join us at 2pm on Wednesday as we continue our Jewellery Month delights from around the world with all items in the show available in 3 Easy Payments. Then on Thursday I’ll be back on the Morning Show with Kathy and The Lunchtime Show with Jackie. Then we’re together for Friday’s Morning Show and I’ll be joined by Miceal for The Lunchtime Show later that afternoon at 1pm.
So ‘till next week stay safe and satiated !
