Who can you spot? Fun behind the scenes and sneaky peeks!

6

How many presenters can you spot, in fact, what do you call a group of QVC presenters? A gaggle? A call to action? Big Deal? One thing it is not, nowadays, is a One Time Only. Ha ha.

As most regulars will know, we are now broadcasting live between 3pm and 7pm every day of the week on our Style channel, as well as obviously fully live on the main channel. (And at 1pm Saturday and Sunday on Style too.) So at some points there are tons of us in! This week in our presenter area, there were a total of five of us – and two more on air. Can you spot who was there? Here’s a closer look without me in it…

It means, of course, there is a lot of lovely fashion. This week’s dress of the week is the fixed wrap jersey dress from Joe Browns, go here to see it – the blue one is one of my real go-to favourites, as is the black version. I’m toying with the idea of getting the plum one as well. These shapes really suit my figure fortunately. And patterns help to cover up ha ha. Go here to see all of the Joe Browns dresses, some of them are my favourites 🙂

Another range people love is Ghost London, watch out for it 7pm on Sunday.

I’ve been going through my wardrobe because this week I packed for my holiday in France. By the time you read this I will be back at Chez Castillon, my writing retreat that I always go to, to try to get my book done, near Bordeaux. Cannot wait to bring you more from my holiday.

Don’t miss next week’s blog, and meanwhile, keep up with my social media, (all listed below) as I will do a daily vlog from the banks of the Dordogne river or from around the swimming pool next to the lovely gite in the sleepy French town, on my Facebook page. Here is this week’s one, a look around Hatherleigh market, where I go to regularly each week to buy fruit, veg and meat for the retreat and to meet my friend Alex. Very country!

Here is a little teaser of my current writing retreat holiday for you, taken as soon as I arrived on Thursday. I’m away from QVC for a whole week and have been looking forward to it very much, locking myself away to finish my fifth novel.

Big girl present

Talking of books, last week I nipped across to see Julia at her book launch for her latest novel, a new genre – crime, called Little Girl Missing. Well, my ‘big girl present’ to Jules was to surprise her by turning up even though I was working that night! Was a bit concerned on the way back as the traffic was horrendous on the M25. Goodness me, it is awful how much time I spend driving nowadays. But it was worth it to see Julia. And the book cake tasted lovely 🙂

Last week I discussed with the garage about the next car I am likely to get, since my deal ends this summer. Scarily, I have done several thousand miles more than I thought I would so the penalty is annoying to say the least 🙂 I’m not sure what car to go for next, any recommendations? Something economical, that has to be really comfortable. Comment below and I will respond.

This weekend’s highlights

Today, Friday 21st June, the Today’s Special Value is from Bareminerals, the five-piece Complexion Rescue set, if any are left, go here to get yours now.

On Saturday we will bring you the biggest television I have seen close up, as James Murden returns with the Samsung 65″ Ultra HD 4K smart TV at an incredible price.

Daisy goes to market

My lovely doggie spent all last weekend, the first without her sister, with one of my friends and her lovely spaniels. Jennie happily gave Daisy a sleepover play date with her dogs Gerald and Blue. Then, so she was not on her own too long, I took her to the market on my regular trip with Alix on Tuesday morning. She had a lovely time sniffing around at other doggies, and sat happily next to our feet in the George pub. Daisy that is, not Alix, lol. I had a houseful this week, six guests, no less, so she got lots of attention and fuss. She seems to be doing okay, thank goodness. Jennie is giving her a holiday too, while I am in France. I’m very lucky to have such fabulous friends and so is Daisy.

Dynamic duo

I was looking through some old photographs and found this one of Daisy and her sister Gracie, just after one of their walks. It’s lovely to remember my beautiful doggie Gracie and I’m going to do a little montage of photographs to put in a frame. Gone but not forgotten. I’m so grateful for the nine years I had with her, and also to everybody who left such lovely comments on my blog last week when I announced it, and also on Facebook et cetera. Thanks all.

Blooming countryside

Found these beautiful flowers when I was out on my longer dog walk, which is possible now we do not have to cut short due to Gracie’s hip problems. Daisy was very happy to be romping down the lanes in Devon near where I live, and I spotted these beautiful foxgloves in the hedgerow. Soon after I found these more unusual ones, I think they are iris! I guess someone must have planted them there at some stage as I didn’t know they grow wild? Lovely colours this time of year, aren’t they?

Book of the Week

Following on from several years following macrobiotics, and very healthy eating, I thought I would make this book my book of the week this week. People were very long memories will remember in 2012 when I went to learn how to cook the macrobiotic way for health, with this lovely lady. Well Marlene Watson Tara has just released her latest cookbook, ‘Go Vegan’. What is great about it is that there is a detailed explanatory section at the front covering the different types of taste buds and how we can concoct meals to satisfy all of them. One trick I learned back in the day was to have something like a sweeter beetroot on the plate (no matter what the meal – I’m not fussy ha ha!) to dissatisfy the sweet taste bud, therefore leading to it being less likely that I wanted something sweet afterwards. It’s a really interesting book and has lots of pictures and suggestions, I will definitely be using some of them for when I plan meals for our upcoming writing retreats in Devon 🙂 Meanwhile I will try to stay off the French stick so much, in France. And no that is not a euphemism… He he.

Watch

I must say I really fancy ‘Late Night’ at the cinema, starring Emma Thompson (I will close my eyes to her recent club class flight to sit in a pink boat in the middle of London!) She is one of my all-time favourite actresses and has an incredible knack for picking good films. A talk show host finds after many years that her top show faces the chop; how she deals with it looks both funny and full of pathos, as you would always expect with Emma. Hoping to catch it at the cinema at some stage soon. And Rocketman again, of course!

Next week on QVC

On Monday, 24th June it is our Summer Sale, as it is on Tuesday. And then Quacker Factory is back for a three day event, don’t miss my lovely friend Patrick and his fabulous range of clothes. I will be taking some of his trousers away with me on holiday :-).

Monday – check out the Links of London drop pendant!

TuesdayIsaac Mizrahi is here with the wrap peplum lace top at an incredibly low price!

Wednesday – a superb security system is our TSV, from Blink – including indoor/outdoor cameras and stickers; Lee Hohbein will be telling us more through the day, please look out for it 🙂

On Thursday I fly back from France and will be on at 10pm including top offers featuring Elemis and also Yankee Candle. It is a Yankee Candle TSV – three large jars from the Farmers Market range, and almost a ‘buy one and a half, get one and a half as a bonus,’ offer!

Finally on Friday it is the Tarte five-piece Effortless Essentials make-up collection and bag – it will go on sale midweek so look out for the early bird link.

Next week – The full lowdown about my week away in France, cannot wait!

Have a great seven days till I speak to you again 🙂

Best wishes

Debbie

Hi Debbie, re driving, I can strongly recommend a Toyota Hybrid car, automatic. I am on my third now C H-R type. It is stylish, so comfortable and most of all economic. £40 of petrol lasts me weeks! Have a test drive and see what you think. There is also the plug in rechargeable hybrid type which is even more economic. Sorry to hear about Gracie, such a loss for you and Daisy.

Mitsubishi PHEV. 4WD, spacious, economical, planet-friendly. Can plug in at motorway service stations or at any household power outlet, can run on fuel as well as electric…
    Check it out.

Hi Debbie, I totally agree with Ruth about a Toyota Hybrid car, we love our RAV4 & found it so economical when we did our holiday down south last year. Hope you enjoy your time in France & manage to finish your book, can’t wait to read it xx

    Hi Debbie
I have Seat Ateca, which I love. It’s 1.4 petrol, and is very economical on fuel. It’s a comfortable ride, especially if you suffer with your back.

    See you on air soon.
