Where’s My Keys…Where’s My Phone?

TeddyThose of you who watch 'Britain's Got Talent' may recognise the title of the catchy little ditty that we were all humming after the show for a few weeks and then completely forgot about. I was reminded of it earlier this week after I had been away in Spain for a few days and simply couldn't remember where I had hidden my keys.

For some reason I always hide them in different places, which is crazy when you think about it because if anyone broke into the house and found them they would have no clue as to whether that was the first time they had been in that location! I looked where I thought I had left them, then I searched through a few drawers, inside shoes and boots, handbags but no sign of them!

I didn't need the car on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday but by Thursday I was starting to panic a bit as I needed to drive in to work. I had a complete mental block – I simply had no idea where I had hidden them. Then I walked into our bedroom and sitting demurely on the chair in the corner was my old teddy that I have had since I was a year old.

I'm not a hundred percent sure that he wasn't smiling when I reached behind him to retrieve my bunch of keys!! I wonder if you still have your old teddy from childhood? The stories they could tell if they could speak…probably just as well that they can't!

Wilfy and the QVC BearWilfie still likes to play with QVC bear who I must confess is starting to look a little worse for wear. I should imagine that on Monday night he was cuddling him rather than biting and kicking him, as he had been for his castration that morning. I felt really mean leaving him at the vet but I was just trying to be a responsible owner as there are enough unwanted kittens in this world.

I expected him to come home all drowsy and loving but instead he was like a whirling dervish, running and jumping to the point that I was worried he might upset the wound. Tuesday morning he was back to normal, which for him is jumping up the moment I come down in the morning and sucking my dressing gown for a good fifteen minutes. I need to stop him really as he's not a baby anymore but I just haven't got the heart because he seems to derive such comfort from it.

Renee Greenstein Marjolien BrugmanOn Tuesday evening Chris and I met up with Renee (Attitudes by Renee) for dinner. She had texted me the week before suggesting it but hadn't signed her name and I had mistakenly thought it was Marjolein (AeroPilates) as the text had mentioned doing the last show of her visit together.

I texted back 'Hi Marjolein we'd love too'!!! Fortunately Renee saw the funny side but unfortunately we didn't have a show together this visit – hopefully next time.

I did of course have a show with Marjolein. Now is the perfect time to get an Aeropilates machine if you want to shape up a bit after the excesses of Christmas and in time for the summer. If you missed the shows check out the different machines available on our website. I'm so pleased I've made room in the spare bedroom for mine, I've really missed being able to use it.

Andrew Bagley2I have a busy few days ahead. I'm looking forward to seeing Glen Campbell today for my Fashion on Friday show although I doubt that the TSV will still be around as it got off to a flying start. While I'm on air at QVC our lovely Gatineau guest, Andrew Bagley, will be putting his body on the line for a charity rugby match. I had no idea Andrew played but I was happy to sponsor him and if you would like to you can read about the cause here http://www.justgiving.com/Andrew-Bagley1

Andrew had emailed me because he knows I am a sports fan, although rugby is the wrong-shaped ball for me. I'm on earlier than usual tomorrow with Hi-Tech at 11am and Yankee Candles at 1pm as I have a rather important date at Selhurst Park at 5.30pm…Crystal Palace are taking on Man Utd.

The Premiership has been really interesting this year with no runaway leader and at least 10 teams battling against relegation…it is shaping up for a very exciting and nerve-racking final day of the season in May.

Looking ahead to next week, I'm launching the Dyson Animal Cordless Vac Tuesday midnight, I have two hours of Butler & Wilson on Wednesday from 9pm, and lots more besides. All that plus trying to get the new house organised, writing my book and planning a surprise birthday party, which I'll tell you more about in a couple of weeks – don't want to spoil the surprise!

Must sign off now as Wilfie has decided he wants to 'help' with my blog and I'm in danger of losing what I have just written.

Enjoy your weekend! Much love,

Julia xx

    Hi Julia
Good luck to Palace. As you probably no – I’m no Man U fan so wanting a home win even more than usual. There’s a good chance of it happening too I think as Man U have been pretty dire this year to put it mildly.
Hope you enjoyed your pilates show. Ive had a couple of weeks off for my birthday so its back to the diet and fitness enxt week
Take care and have a nice weekend xxx

Hi julia, lovely to read of your break in Spain and nice valentines day/cards. The sun looked very welcoming in your photos, but at least the nights are getting lighter and the mornings too. I did smile when you said how Wilfy had been after his op! As Elsa was done last week, she was very quiet for a couple of days, but the hardest and funniest part was her having to wear the cone on her head to stop her licking her wound. Poor thing she bumped into everything and found it hard to eat and drink at first. She seemed quite depressed till she mastered the art of wearing it. So she has freedom outside now! But has come back each time so I feel easier now.
We have our grandchildren here this week, all four of them at various times, which is just wonderful. My 3 daughters got together last night for a curry and it was lovely to hear them together. I feel as if our parenting job has succeeded when they, and us want to spend time with each other. Plus we were informed we have another grandchild on the way…..to Becky and Duncan, who have Evelyn and rupert. Due in September. The circle of life continues and we feel very very blessed.
It was lovely to see you back on air with Pilates, you explain and show just what using the machine can achieve and it’s great! Look forward to your shows over next few days, and enjoy the football tomorrow as I gather it is an important game!!
Your key story had me laughing I must say.
Sending you love and hugs diane xx

    Hi Julia,
I hope you had a lovely time in Spain, I did write on your last blog asking you to bring back some sunshine. Glad you found your keys, I often do that, then have to use the spare set. Glad Wilfy is okay now, you mentioned that he sucks your dressing gown, my young Golden Retriever will often suck her blanket, and goes to sleep with it in her mouth, I believe it is a thing taking them back to when they were born, a comfort thing. Some good shows coming up on QVC, I did buy the Miele vacuum the other day that was the TSV, it is great. I do have a Miele Tumble Dryer which I also got from QVC, that is fantastic as well. Looks like you have plenty to do in the next week to keep you out of mischief. My daughter Heidi has an Aeropilates machine, she uses it quite often, keeps saying to me to come up and use it. It is finding the time.
Anyway Julia, dont work to hard.
    Love Jean X

    Hi Julia
So glad that you had a lovely break with Chris…what a way to spend Valentines together, very romantic. Thought my Chris had forgot, he went to work without a sniff of a card anywhere…I decided to make him one anyway. He arrived home card and perfume in hand, he’d hidden them in the car and driven off to work before realising.
It was nice seeing you with Marjolein, I did send her a quick email to let her know of my progress since the metal came out and I’m starting to see a little definition in the top of my arms. Your make-up looked really nice on the AeroPilates hour, flawless, what were you using??
Poor Wilfy, we know what’s been done, but he doesn’t and I bet he was rushing round looking for his bits!
Bobby was poorly again last week and as a result had to come with us to the Hospital, Chris took him for a walk whilst I saw the Cholesterol Dr, still very high, he looks mainly into the forensic side of things, family, past and present, but because I don’t have children he didn’t need to go down that route.
Apparently I am doing all the right things with regards to diet and exercise and the weight gain is due to my mobility since the accident, but now I can do more as it’s the first time my ankle doesn’t ache following exercise. I will have to go on tablets and when I listed my diet I was surprised he had never heard of Almond Milk. My blood pressure is also on the high side, so I’m keeping track of that every day…it’s amazing how many things the menopause can interfere with, blood pressure being one of them too…really don’t want tablets for that, I’ve already got a pill box and will need a bigger one at this rate lol!
Just seen a new Poppy variety in a catalogue (T&M) which reminded me of Simon (B&W) and what you normally buy him…they are called ‘Ladybird’ and have a black spot at the base of each petal!

    Hi Julia,
Still laughing about the keys, I am always doing that with credit cards jewellery etc, I’ve decided in furture I am going to make a note and carry it with me!
I met you at the Beauty Bash and thought how lovely your skin and you too look in person, you always look good on tv, today I saw you on a diamond show one person tweeted to ask if you’d had botox, I had been thinking how lovely and dewy your face looked, what were you wearing???????

    Hi Julia,
Your teddy looks exactly like mine, its filled with wood shavings and looks a bit ragged. He has a few darns in his tummy( do people darn anymore?) not surprising though as my teddy is 67 years old!! and I still love it.

    Hi Julia,
Glad you had a well deserved break in Spain, lucky you escaping the awful weather in the u.k.
I can relate to the ‘missing car keys’ issue. I am always forgetting where I have put them. Just after I had my new car I lost one of the keys so I have to be extra careful where I leave them. I do have a set place for them and if they aren’t there I do panic, but they are normally in the pocket of the last coat I wore!! I put it down to my age!!
I also have a small teddy which I have had since I was born. He is a bit tatty now, but he lives on my bed!!!
I would just mention that I used to live in West Bridgford, Nottingham and both my sister and I went to Jesse Gray school. Not sure if Mr Joe Pegg was headmaster when you were around as I am a little older than you. He was very strict as I recall!!
Hope you continue to feel better – I bet, like me, you will be glad when the sun does eventually shine!!
    Take care,
    Gill x x

    Hi Julia
Hope you had a great time in Spain. The weather has been very kind to us, with lots of sun. On my way back from Dubai I spent 3 days in Barcelona, and even got a tan! The cruise was great, and I bought my red and gold purse on the flight to Dubai.
God you are just like me when I travel, I always hide my car keys and the credit cards that I don’t need abroad, and always when I get back, it takes me days to find them. This time I wrote on a paper where I put them and took it with me, but I couldn’t find that paper when I got back, not much fun.
Hubby had a great time in Vietnam and Cambodia, but his not too happy with Man United results so far, so he is waiting now for tonight”s match with Palace, and he said to tell you that he would like Palace to win, may be they will get rid of the manager after that.
Looking forward to the Butler and Wilson shows, as I missed the last two when away. I used my silver and black B&W tops on the cruise, and everyone asked me where I got them from. And with the evening bags and jewellery from Simon, I was like a walking AD for Butler and Wilson.
    Much love.

    Hi Julia,
I used to have a white teddy called Bo Bo. I remember when I had earache I would lie on it against my ear. I was only nine when my eldest sister had my first nephew. He was very poorly and was born with Hydrocephalis so I gave my much loved teddy to him. I felt so grown-up, becoming an aunty! He was a much loved treasure and has probably long gone.
Onto other things. We had a very exciting game against France last Saterday. We won 26 : 6. We are still in with a chance for winning the championship making it 3 in a row. Our next match is against ENGLAND!!! There has always been a fierce rivalry against them as you can imagine. The game isnt until 9th of March, giving our boys time to recover from their last game. It will be a tense nail biting game on our home turf. I can’t wait!!!
Well must dash as we’re off to our favourite place (Porthcawl), for fish and chips.
Best wishes Tina S (Wales’ number one Rugby fan) xx

    Hi Diane
It was good to get a little bit of sunshine in Spain although the weather has picked up a bit here since we got back so maybe we brought it back with us.
Glad that Elsa is ok after her op – it’s a bigger op for female cats …. not sure what Wilfie would make of having to wear a cone! He hasn’t been out on his own yet although I’ve arrived him out a few times – he makes weird Hannibal Lechter noises at the birds through the window.
Congratulations on the announcement of your new grandchild. It all seems a long way away for me but I think I was older than you when I had the children … it feels good when your offspring actually like being in your and each others company doesn’t it? I like a nice curry myself!
Football didn’t quite go to plan I’m afraid but still plenty of points to play for this season.

    Hello Jean
Seems I did bring a bit of sunshine back from Spain – peppered with showers though!
I’m a big fan of Miele appliances myself – we had a Miele dishwasher for years …. best one I’ve ever owned. This house has a ‘mini’ dishwasher …. alright for the moment but it will have to go when we redo the kitchen!
You should try Heidi’s Pilates machine – I’m already staring to feel more toned since we set mine up again and I’ve only been on it half a dozen times.

    Hi Annette
It was a lovely break and yes it was quite romantic as the bed in the second hotel we stayed in, Valentine’s night and the Saturday, was a four poster!
To be honest Wilfie has been absolutely fine since his op – I hope Bobby is better now.
It’s horrible having to take pills for stuff particularly when you are eating well and trying to get back into exercise, let’s hope they do the business with your cholesterol.
Talking of ladybirds there were loads in Spain … first time I’ve ever seen them there … AND Wilfe caught one in the house last night.
Hope you are still enjoying your new house

Thanks for the compliments about my skin. I wasn’t sure if the person tweeting in was paying me a compliment or not – I would never do Botox … ever!
I have been using the new L’Occitane Divine Cream in the mornings with Elemis Illuminating Balm over the top but I think having a bit of a sun glow helps too.

Yes it was really good to get away particularly after the recent house move and the sunshine was most welcome. Seems I’m not the only one who has a few memory lapses!
Fancy you going to Jesse Gray School. Yes Mr. Pegg was my headmaster – I was there from 1960 – 1967 and we lived opposite the school gates on Musters Road. My sister, Lynda and brother, Richard, also attended and they are both older than me so maybe you knew them? Do you remember Mr. Syson? I wrote about him in my book because he made such an impression on me. Also Mr. Corner and Mr. Atkinson …. memories egh?!

    Hi Magda
Sounds like you had a good time in Dubai and glad you got your new red and gold purse … seems to be working for me so far. People have been saying that Spain has had one of it’s mildest winters for years – typical now that I have sold my house there …. never mind at least I can still visit.
Well your hubby is probably pleased really that Man Utd beat Palace on Saturday. It was a pretty even first half but after the penalty it was always going to be a Utd win. I think David Moyes has a job on his hands – Sir Alex is a pretty tough act to follow! I think they have a Champions League game tonight don’t they?
I hope Simon Wilson will read my blog as he’ll be delighted that you have been doing so much advertising on his behalf. See you tomorrow night (Wednesday) at 9pm

    Hi Julia
Four poster bed, very nice, we had one in one of the cottage holidays, but being scared of spiders, I was always on the look out incase one dropped off the canopy eek!
We’re still enjoying our house and Bobby hasn’t looked so bright in ages, he’s much better now after his usual injection.
Forgot about the Teddy, bit. I still have my teddy, well my second one actually. My sister bought me a Chad Valley teddy when I was born, which I had for many years, he had been loved so much he was very fragile and going back to the old 80’s leotard, leggings and leg warmer days, I kept him in an old leg warmer with his head sticking out. Dad bought me a new one which I’ve still got, but I think teddy no: 1 vanished during one of my many house moves over the years, which is a shame.
As for you loosing your car, my first car was Dad’s old Austin Allegro which was bright orange, I came from work one night and couldn’t understand why my key wouldn’t fit in the lock…my car was 2 rows over…now there weren’t many orange Allegros back then, especially where I lived, so how weird was that…I did feel a fool!
    Glad Wilfy’s better.
