What’s in Your Make-up Bag?

10

I thought I’d start today’s blog with a run down of what is currently in my make-up bag, as there is only another nine days of June to enjoy £1.95 P&P on all beauty products. Just as an aside for a moment… how can it already be the longest day of the year? That means the days will start to get shorter again, so the evenings darker earlier and it doesn’t feel as though we’ve had much summer yet! There are promises for some higher temperatures on the way but June has been pretty dismal so far – at least it has been weather-wise! More on my party, with some lovely pics, later on, but first back to my make-up bag:

Bareminerals Original Foundation in Medium Tan – they have a great TSV today, but this isn’t in it).
Tarte Shape Tape Concealer – the BEST concealer I have ever used – I couldn’t be without this product.
Tarte eyeshadows – my favourite compact of theirs is Tartelette in Bloom, but you may want to hang fire before ordering, as they have a five-piece make-up collection as the TSV next Friday.
Laura Geller Baked Kajal Eyeliner
Laura Geller Baked Body Frosting in Tahitian Glow to warm up my skin when it’s a little pallid
Doll 10 lipsticks – beautiful creamy formula
IT Cosmetics Brow Power Eyebrow Pencil, which is universal in colour
Benefit blusher – I have a compact which it no longer available but my fave in the compact is Galifornia, which we do sell as an individual item
Benefit mascara – I love all three of theirs but my current favourite is Rollerlash
Mally Poreless Face Perfector, which I prefer to powder

I do switch around more with make-up than skincare and I do use additional products, but I’m being good by limiting myself to ten!

Talking about being good and limiting myself, I didn’t overindulge in the prosecco last Friday at my book launch gathering. I’m sure you’ll recognise a few of these faces who I particularly wanted to come, because they have been so supportive of my writing. Fashion guest Imogen Connelly, model Sharon (who you may remember did my new author photos), Jemma Forte, also an author and I loved this notebook she bought me, which I intend to fill with new book ideas, and lovely Lorna Ko.

Lorna had a work trip booked to Florida and she took my book with her as her reading material. You’ve heard the phrase, ‘wish I was there’ – that is a lovely setting for a glass of wine and a book!

Dale also came after his shift at QVC and my pal Debbie Flint popped in for a short while before her shift started. It was so kind of her to make the effort, especially as the book may not have got finished but for the peace and quiet of my stay at her Devon retreat last June. I had lots of beautiful flowers and bottles of wine (I think we ended up with more than we started with!) from friends and neighbours and some lovely cards too.

Our mantlepiece has been full of cards for the past ten days; my birthday, the book launch and on Sunday it was Father’s Day. It’s a difficult day for those of us who no longer have our dads but I like to remember the happy times. This shot of us was from 1984 when I had popped home to see my parents while we were recording The Price is Right in Nottingham. He had such a warm smile and kind eyes and will live on forever in my heart.

This Sunday, I will be on-air. We have a fabulous Today’s Special Value for those of us with age concerns. Some of you may have heard Simon Wilson, from Butler & Wilson, mention on-air that he is a Gatineau fan. This is the first dedicated Age Benefit TSV since 2016 and both the Age Benefit Cream and the Floracil Eye Make-up Remover are supersizes. There is also the Eye Contour Cream from the range, the Perfection Ultime Radiance Jelly Mask and the Radiance Gommage. I’m on with Andrew at 1pm and 3pm, so I do hope you can join us.

Other highlights to look forward to this week are the two-day sale event on Monday and Tuesday. Monday it is mixed shows, bedding, gardening, jewellery and even Christmas, and on Tuesday it is all fashion.

Speaking of fashion, we have a Quacker Factory mini-series from Wednesday to Friday this coming week at 2pm each day. I’ll be with Patrick on Thursday.

Just one final thing to mention before I head into QVC for Lola Rose at 3pm and then my double dose of Fashion on Friday. One of the neighbours who came to my book launch gathering bought me this candle. It’s Neom (I LOVE their candles) – so how funny that I have a Beauty Loves show featuring Neom on Wednesday at 3pm!

Have a fabulous weekend, I hope you can join me for some of it on QVC.
Much love,
Julia xx

Hallo Julia. Many thanks for your interesting blogs and all your input into QVC. I always particularly enjoy your presentations. All much appreciated.

I just wanted you to know that just now I am reading your latest book ‘Little Girl Missing’. I am finding it very exciting and a real page-turner. I do not normally read this kind of book but this is really good. Just hope little Cassie will be found safe and well! I think the book is intelligently written and a really worthwhile read. Hugely recommended.

Many thanks and all best wishes.

So pleased to hear you enjoy my blogs and my presentations on QVC.
I’m wondering if you have now finished Little Girl Missing? Delighted to hear that you like my writing style and are happy to recommend it. If you did feel like leaving a review on Amazon it would be much appreciated.
      Love
