What’s your best remedy for that cough? And clearing Narnia

What’s your best remedy for that cough? And funny blooper!

Bodyblade Bonanza

Bruce and me

One of the best devices (known to man, in my opinion), to get fit toned and strong is the Bodyblade. I did a little experiment at the end of last year and didn’t use it for a while and ate … er, not very well… shall we say. Well who doesn’t?! LOL! Then resumed healthy eating, listening to my body and doing full Freedom Eating and began blading regularly again – mostly with the Bodyblade Beach video.

In fact I had only done this four times when I ended up realising how much stronger I was whilst doing my bedtime yoga routine. It’s so worthwhile trying it! Bruce was here again this week and had a new DVD that teaches yoga and bodyblade in one routine. You can get it here as part of the set, or you can get it here on its own if you already have the blade. Another successful visit, and don’t forget to search for the Bodyblade Ohana group to come join the support system online. And a big hello to anyone watching from them.

Devon Update
Another update from Devon and a long video blog, or ‘vlog’, featuring another lovely crisp Devon day and a walk by the river Torridge, that’s what the Sheepwash river is called as it turns out. And if you watch this video click on the link here, you will see a question, feel free to answer it in the comments below the post. All about leaving lights on 🙂

And don’t forget to ‘like’ my Facebook page to get the updates show up in your feed soon as they are live. This post was done live from the riverside! Great fun and very calming to be down there.

Retreats Update

Well there are still two places left on sixth and 20th February, email info@retreatsForYou.co.uk if you are interested in coming for four nights, Bodybladers are mostly coming on the sixth, writers on the 20th. This week I helped to organise the rest of my garden pots coming down to Sheepwash, thank you to my brother-in-law and sis, pictured at the top in the local pub opposite called the Halfmoon.

We had a nice chicken dinner there afterwards and thank you to the team for helping to get the back garden and the courtyard sorted in time for Monday’s next retreat.

Above is a before and after pic, of all the twiggy Narnia type mess, kind of, and here is a video of how it looks now.

Once I excavate those pots and get rid of the dead leaves hopefully when everything starts sprouting it will look lovely.

The Cough You would think with all the healthy stuff going on in my life that I would be able to void the dreaded lurgy. But as you’ll have heard on-air last night, if you were watching, I haven’t. Hopefully I’ll be OK for Bruce’s 6pm show this evening (Friday 20th). If not I will see if I can get the whole show recorded as a reference for you, and if I can, then the link will appear here.

Anyway I actually cuddled a cat, so serves me right, as I used to be highly allergic to them and even though it is not as bad as it used to be.it  still started me sneezing. Well our studios are very cold and unfortunately I then found myself not sleeping very well for several days this week, lots on my mind, and a bit of a churning tummy too!

Chris James of Chris James yoga, gave me a remedy comprising ginger, cayenne pepper and lemon. Hopefully it will help! What are your remedies? And watch out for Chris, he’s back in stock soon with his 12 day cleanse.

Chris James

I actually take several supplements which help me keep healthy, usually! But I must admit I missed several days of having them this week, that won’t have helped. However eating healthily, especially lots of vegetables is the best way for me to keep my health. My body really, really does not like eating rubbish! But then which body does, just some of us recognise it more than others. If you don’t, you can read all about recognising satisfied in my book ‘Till The Fat Lady Slims 4.0’. And do come join the online support groups – more on the website page about the launch of the new book here.

Kipling’s Marie-Francoise in photo shoot Not only is the lovely lady on our Big Brother screens once again on the break-bumpers, she also does shoots like this – what an awesome pic! Follow her on @mariefrancoise7 on Twitter.

Broadcasting around the world on RTI This week I also did an interview for RTI, on Postcard from Poprad, which broadcasts online around the world, about my book Till the Fat Lady Slims 2017. If you didn’t know, it’s my semi-autobiographical weight loss book which is fitting nicely into place at this time of year, once the diet month hasn’t worked and before spring hots up and people start panicking. More about it here. My old radio pal Eric invited me to go tell them about it and it took me right back! Because of course I began my broadcasting career in radio – it was fun!  You can listen to the radio interview about TTFLs here.

Book of the Week  – a double dose for you – my pal Merryn Allingham’s latest, set in 1914, is out – the Button Maker’s Daughter – is my book of the week. Plus a second one – cos I enjoyed it – the new John Grisham, ‘The Whistler.’ Read more about them here.

Watch – Okay, this is a first. I make no excuses, I have been to see ‘La La Land’ at the cinema for a second time this week! All I can say is watch it! Do read my review last week if you want to, but well just go watch it. If you love what I love you’ll … love it.

I loved it so much, especially the soundtrack, that now I have the album as well as downloaded it, I’m absolutely adoring the songs. Those and some fab Lady Antebellum songs are keeping me company on my long journeys to and from Devon. Now I just need to learn to tap dance. Ha ha!

Here is another interview with the amazing Ryan Gosling, so so talented. One of the best films I’ve seen since I began these reviews – and the highest or equal highest mark – enjoyed it just as much the second time, specially as I knew the songs better. In fact, why not get the album before you go!

Gabi in Panto So here’s another ‘watch’ – and if you come on Sunday afternoon, you may well bump into not only Gabrielle Bradshaw herself, but also Rebecca Perfect, Craig Rowe and me! Click on the pic to enlarge and see links of how to book – in a village hall and all for charity – do come.

Hi Debbie, glad you’re enjoying Devon. It must be difficult splitting your week so not surprised you’re not sleeping. Hope you settle soon. Glad you liked la la land. I’ve heard mixed reviews. Mostly saying too hyped up but I’ll judge myself!x

Debbie – silly question perhaps, but do you have a ‘flu jab annually? I started having them about 10 years ago and have never actually develop a cold or ‘flu since – it’s beyond brilliant. I used to work in an environment where germs are flying around all over the place – if only I’d have known …… Wrap up warm, hot toddy (bit of brandy, honey, dash of lemon juice and top up with boiling water – sip slowly. It opens up the airways and the germs are so drunk, they can’t be bothered with you and go to someone else!!!). xx
