What Will You Write?

Firstly, Happy New Year to you all. I like the start of a new year. It feels like opening up your new diary and having 365 blank pages to start filling in. I wonder what you will be writing this year and I’m not talking about books, although there are a couple of those on my agenda for 2019. I’ve actually spent some of my days off over Christmas and New Year working on edits for the first book in the series I’m writing for my publishers, Bookouture. I’ve only ever worked to self-imposed deadlines previously, which can be quite flexible, for want of a better word, but I have a firm deadline of January 7th to meet, so it has been a bit ‘nose to the grindstone’ at times! Nearly there, thankfully, which is just as well, as I only have tomorrow as a full editing day.

I’m on-air later today, no Fashion on Friday at 5pm on the main channel, but we do have a really good line-up for Fashion on Friday with Julia on the Style Channel at 6pm. On Sunday I’m on at 11am with Fiona Brackenberry for an hour of Decleor, featuring the Five Piece Renewal Day & Night Skincare Collection TSV.

There are two options, but both feature a 400ml Micellar Cleansing Water, Hydra Floral Everfresh Wide Open Eye Gel and the new Harmonie Calm Organic 2-in-1 Cream and Face Mask which you can either use in a thin layer over your daytime Aromessence or a thicker layer as a leave-on mask. You then choose between Rose D’Orient if you have sensitive skin or Neroli Amara if you have a normal skin type or if you’re unsure for the Aromessence Oil and the Night Balm. It’s already available on our website if you like to order early.

I’m also on-air at 1pm on Sunday with an hour of Aeropilates. I haven’t seen Marjolein Brugman in well over a year, so I am really looking forward to it.

I’m going to confess that I have been less disciplined than usual with both exercise and diet over the past month or so, as I’ve been busy with my writing and permitting myself to enjoy festive food and drink. One of my goals for the year is to get back into a regular habit of using my Aeropilates machine, particularly as I have an August wedding to prepare for!

If you’ve never tried it and are looking for a low impact way to do aerobic exercise combined with core-strengthening and flexibility, you should give it a go. That and swimming are my favourites!

I do prefer goals to resolutions and I rarely start on January 1st, as I always feel I’m setting myself up to fail, particularly if my resolutions have been diet-related. We have my daughter, Sophie’s, birthday on January 8th, so I usually wait until after we’ve celebrated that with chocolate birthday cake! Have you set yourselves any goals this year?

Before I go, you may have spotted the friendship bracelet I was wearing on-air yesterday. It’s real diamonds, is the TSV on Wednesday and is under £100 and comes in your choice of rose gold plate, yellow gold plate and rhodium plate on sterling silver. A nice way to spend any Christmas money you may have been given!

Have a fabulous weekend – good luck to all the teams in the 3rd round of the FA Cup (especially Crystal Palace, of course).
Much love,
Julia xx

    Hi Julia,
Happy New Year to you too.
Christmas was pretty quiet in our house with Ian working doing a 12 hr shift and the same on Boxing day. ! My son did come over for Lunch on Christmas day as he is now seperated, and I spent Boxing Day with him and his new partner and my Grandson who is now 13 mths, before a quick visit to his other son who’s 8. My first Veggie Christmas although i did cook a Turkey Crown for my son, i did have lots of Vegetables as i love them and a Quorn Roast. Very enjoyable.. Can’t find a decent replacement for bacon though any idea’s. ? We are hoping to have a break away for a few days when the Restrurant calms down etc.. Paris was on the cards , but might give it a miss for a while. ! 🙂 Perhaps leave it till April….. I will be in Spain visiting our friends for a week at the end of August now they have moved to a permanant home there, also looking forward to a 2 week visit and meeting up with a couple of friends to Crete in the middle of September. So many bookings on our Cyprus home that we can visit other places.. Good Luck with your book’s i’m sure you will meet your deadlines…. did i read somewhere that Jackie K has a book deal too.. Or have i read it wrong. I have just received Ali K’s book, i’m sure it will be an emotional read.. I do hope you will get a little doggie, after the wedding i’m sure. I love my 2 Border Collies Lulu and Barney, ( both rescues.) but we do miss them while we are away thats the only problem. They are not from Working Stock so not on the go like other Collies, ours are quite relaxed, thankfully. !!.
Any way good luck with your wedding plans, and your writing, have you decided on a wedding destination yet or is it secret. !
My son’s birthday birthday is on Jan 5th, he will be 38 ! eekk
    Love Kathy.

      Hi Kathy
Did I know you were veggie? We don’t bother with a quorn roast we have plenty of veggies to fill us up – I cooked a turkey crown for 6 this year and it was well received . Re bacon, there isn’t really a good replacement in my opinion but we have tempeh rashers which are not like bacon but I love them.
Yes, Jackie K also has a new book deal. She was with a publisher previously but has moved to a new one for the next 2 books. Her book is out in April, the first in my series not until July.
We haven’t totally decided on a wedding destination yet – maybe Mauritius.
I hope your son had a happy birthday – it was Sophie’s on the 8th – she’s 31…. time flies!

Hi Julia, I was watching you earlier with Marjolein Brugman talking about the DVDs which come with the Pilates machine which I purchased a few years back, but could never view due to lack of player and was very interested to hear her say they are now online, how can I access them ?
    Many thanks

      Hi Susan
I think the best thing is to contact Marjolein at Lighterliving.com – let me know if she doesn’t get back to you

Hi Julia, You are the one person who can help, I met you at one of the beauty bashes and we discussed Decleor Hydrotenseur eye gel, you will now know what I am about to ask you! We both loved it because we suffer from puffy eyes, its is no longer on the web site and yesterday when I was ordering the Decleor TSV mainly because of the eye cream included as I am running out of Hydrotenseur, have they discontinued it and what have you chosen in place of it as I am stuck I have no idea which brand makes a similar product if any, Can you help? love Maggie.

      Hi Maggie
So I am as disappointed as you re the Serum Hydratenseur but I have been trying out the Hydra Floral everfresh gel and I quite like it. I’m sensitive around the eyes so tend not to try too many new things but I think the Gatineau defilift is also quite good on ‘puffy’ eyes
      Hope that helps

Hi Julia, Happy 2019. The friendship bracelet looks lovely. I was wondering if you still have your popcorn watch as you don’t seem to wear it. I have one too and love wearing mine xx

      Hi Wilma
The friendship bracelet is impressive for the price – did you get it? Yes I do still have my popcorn bracelet watch but don’t wear it on air as we don’t sell it anymore – glad to hear you still wear yours

Hi Julia, my first time writing a comment but is there a sneaky preview on Fridays TSV xx

      Hi Carol
It’s not on pre- sale but it is the Fitbit charge 3 – 2 options. Rose gold with lavender fabric strap or white metal with white silicone strap – both come with an extra black strap I think & there is added value too. Hope that helps – am buying one for my daughter for her birthday
