It’s going to be in time again, and at least they are thriving in the garden, we had two meals for guests this week entirely from the garden, including the lovely runner beans. Tomatoes are coming through now as well, but… All the lovely veg I planted before I had my London week has all gone… The slugs won!! So instead I planted some of my Richard Jackson wildflower seeds and I will watch avidly to see what comes out next time 🙂
Great day out on the river
Last weekend I had a fabulous day in really hot weather, going on a boat trip up the river Thames from Kingston, then hanging around Hampton Court with my family, including my niece who has come back from travelling the world. Chloe Flint is a real adventurer, and she arranged us for us to go all the way from Kingston Bridge to… Hampton Court! We did not realise it was only about a 10 minute journey – we thought it was an hour, ha ha! Anyway, it was really nice.
Strolled around the grounds in Hampton Court, beautiful flowers, bright sunshine, had a lovely tea, and a smashing lunch in a healthy food place over the bridge.
Go here on my vlog on Facebook where you will see a video looking out of the window down the river.
It’s made us all want to go on a canal boat holiday, have you ever done one?
This weekend on QVC
Friday is the turn of the new Color Wow three-piece Dream Regime collection, go here to see and buy it. My Lauren, who has beautiful naturally curly hair that tends towards frizziness in the damp weather swears by this, as it keeps her hair sleeker for longer. And she is a hard task master! Also tonight from 10pm until midnight it’s the grand finale of the Beauty Excellence Awards, always fun to watch with Ali Young and Will, and a real spectacle. Who will have won?! Go here to see all the contenders and buy them early!
Saturday – the Lenovo Idea Pad laptop is the Today’s Special Value. Another great deal and Lee Hohbein will no doubt present it fabulously well.
Sunday – this one is impressive. It is one of my top brands, Gatineau. I have been using the new four-piece Melatogenine Ageless Expert Skincare collection, and have been particularly pleased with the serum and the new moisturiser formulation. I swear by their Melatogenine MorphoBiotique Eye Cream anyway, it is my top choice for making the area around my eyes look less puffy and blind. Just as the Gatineau DefiLift Firming Neck and Decollete Gel is my top choice of all time for my neck. Great brand, looking forward to Sunday.
And Sunday night at midnight I will be here with the Radley London Hoxton three compartment tote bag, but it goes on sale a couple of days early. Click this link to get yours.

10 years at QVC
It was my extreme pleasure to have a chat with our wonderful CEO Rob Muller this week, and I went to pick up my certificate and for being at QVC 10 years. I guess it should really be for 16 years though, including the first six, when I was here the first time round until the year 2000! Nonetheless, it was a nice chat and I’m very proud to have been back 10 years next month! How time flies.
Dress of the week
I thought it was funny to do this little Boomerang video for one of the posts promoting my fashion show this week, considering how many people are doing these types of clips now. But I could not do it seriously, could I! Ha ha. In any case this is one of my favourite dresses and silhouettes from Nina Leonard. I have just ordered another one in bright blue too, for some big dinners that are coming up this autumn! I love political events, but I’m definitely not going to be an MP when I grow up! LOL. Anyway, go here to see the Nina Leonard range featuring the trapeze swing dress shape. Marvellous.
Gorgeous place to work
Summer came to Chiswick again last week with the little mini heatwave. 30C outside and they brought the beach, hammocks, and the deck chairs to the lovely big mini-lake outside QVC towers. We are so lucky 🙂 Hope it was nice where you were before the torrential rain came back 🙂
I just have to rave about another product that was back on air this week, Hairfix Follicle Max. I have been using it on and off – I keep it in Devon so obviously not super-regularly, but I’m still seeing results! Especially around my hairline, I now have short tufts of hair coming through in places that were very much thinner before. Great products, click here to shop the range.
Book of the week – A Ration Book Christmas
It’s less a recommendation, it’s more of a complaint. I have tried my best to persevere with one of my favourite author’s new audiobooks. Jean Fullerton writes really good wartime stories, and I have loved her previous tales. But this new one is narrated by somebody I just cannot listen to any more. And I just want to have a little whinge. A good narrator like Juliet Stevenson, will subtly vary the way she uses her voice to indicate a different character. A poor narrator thinks she has to use some kind of speech impediment or nasal whine or screechy intonation to make each character different. And oh my goodness, this one takes the biscuit. The accents need to be similar, as it is set in wartime East End London, but instead of changing the accent slightly or changing the voice subtly, by varying intonation, pitch, speed, expression, melody and diction, she makes it very hard to listen to because they all sound like a parody. Many characters sound like a comedy voice, with slurring, sounding drunk, unfinished words et cetera. Plus, she sadly irks me by using the wrong emphasis within a sentence, which changes the meaning slightly. She’s not quite as bad as the narrator reading Priory of the Orange Tree, but she’s not far off. I tell you what, it says something when you have to go and download the Kindle version so that you can listen to Alexa reading the book instead! I do, however, recommend the audiobooks for Jean’s Call Nurse Millie series – they are fab.
Film – Angel has Fallen
This is the third in the series, following ‘White House has Fallen’ and ‘London has Fallen.’ Gerard Butler is back beating the baddies and pursuing the baddies again. And this time it is the baddies doing the pursuing 🙂 I do like him in films and I must say this third one exceeded my expectations. I enjoyed it very much and with an added twist – his character being blamed for an assassination attempt and going into hiding, it is a very enjoyable action romp. 8 out of 10.
Next week on QVC
Monday 2nd September it is the lovely Radley bag as mentioned above.
Tuesday – Ben de Lisi returns with the drop back crepe shirt at a great price.
Wednesday – Doris is here with the Doll 10 collection that has an Auto Delivery option and makes this make-up brand really affordable, don’t miss it.
Thursday – Diamonique day appears once again with a 4.42 carat radiant-cut and round-cut bracelet and travel box combo. Particularly looking forward to the three hour grand finale with Charlie and Alison Keenan from 9pm. They are always a hoot.
Plus, earlier in the week the early bird order link comes up for the next Skechers TSV, the Keepsakes mid double buckle boots with studs. Very affordable. I’m looking forward to doing the 4 pm show Friday. Richard Parker makes a return as the guest, I’m told, so it should be fun. And Gok’s Closet is back with Alex, on Friday at 8pm.
Finally, Friday evening at 9 pm we get to see the latest Samsung Smart TV, this time the 55″ Dynamic Crystal Colour 4K telly and James Murden will talk us through it. Also watch out for Philosophy going on early bird order link from around Thursday.
Next week – very much looking forward to going to my daughter’s for some mummy and Lauren time on Wednesday for her birthday (it’s actually on 6th, she had her party early last two weeks ago!)
