Two weeks in and fun at the Beauty Bash

Diet Chef popcornSo it’s week two of Diet Chef and I woke up on Monday morning fully expecting NOT to have lost any weight. But in the end I weighed again and I haven’t lost any weight. But I know why. I went off plan last Sunday when Austen came to London to visit and also on Beauty Bash day. So it’s my own fault. But I’m not downhearted. In fact I’m the opposite: I’m more resolute 🙂

On Saturday Austen and I went to the movies to see the outrageous and hilarious WOLF OF WALL STREET starring Leonardo di Caprio. I quickly snapped my pack of popcorn and it’s a wonder I didn’t choke on them in the movie theatre because I warn you now, the film is an 18 certificate and not, repeat NOT for the faint hearted because of the very graphic content throughout. That said, the popcorn was delicious and it was a surprise that I resisted the MEGA BUCKET of sweet popcorn I usually buy at the tills.

Beauty BashLast Thursday I went to the QVC Beauty Bash. It was a real fun day with Alison Young, Debs Flint, Julia Roberts (who I also happen to share a dressing room with) & Miceal Murphy. I went to visit as many beauty brands as I could, however I didn’t get that far because I was stopped by so many lovely QVC customers for a chat. Thanks to Margaret Devlin from Edinburgh and her niece, Marcia and her mum Winnie from London, the gorgeous Jan Simmons (from Streetly, near me in Brum) and her pal Angie Beckett (who’s originally from Bartley Green, where I was brought up), Jacqui and her daughter Sophie from Southampton and so many more. It was a real pleasure. Jump onto my Facebook page to see all the photos I took that day and don’t forget to LIKE the page too so you can come back and say HI. Were you there? Did you pick yourself up anything nice from our Beauty Weekend?

On Sunday Austen and I went out for a stroll around the Red House Park and fed the ducks and geese. Bracing and cold but lovely. Aren’t we lucky we haven’t had any snow yet? I remember this time last year it was dreadful!

Marv with her Miele

This weekend I went back to Brum for the first time in about two weeks. It was wonderful to chill with The Hubz, Austen. We tested out the forthcoming Miele S8 Cyclinder vacuum cleaner which is a Today's Special Value next Monday 3rd February. We zoomed around the house with it. The power is incredible (2200W of it), we cleaned all manner of corners, under the kitchen units, all the skirting boards (the one behind the bed in the master bedroom is a haven for dust!) and our curtains with the special tools that came with the cleaner.

    Hi Marverine,
Firstly, I’ll try and catch you on your show this afternoon. I’m a big fan of Tova and I love her Body, Mind & Spirit EDP!
I did chuckle at your description of eating the popcorn and avoiding the mega-sized one! Glad you enjoyed the film too.
Good to hear you all had fun at the Beauty Bash – it must be long hours and at least there’s a team of you to help each other out!
It’s a lovely photo of you and Austen at the Red House Park – haven’t heard of it, will need to look it up!
You take care and I’m sending photos of our cat “Lettie” to you and Julia this week,
    Beth XXX.

Hi Beth, oh my days it was SO SO hard to pass the popcorn stand. And when I did I spotted the Ben & Jerry’s stall and the Salted Caramel ice-cream was calling me so loudly I had to run, run, run to the movie screen! Lol!
Red House Park is a little gem of a park in Great Barr, hidden away so much so that lots of locals don’t even know if exists. Gotta pat Sandwell Council on the back for maintaining it so well. It’s awesome with football pitches, a changing room area for the boys & girls who play, tennis courts, a zipwire and a swings/roundabouts plot for the youngsters. And when snow comes down tons of Mums & Dads bring their kids out to sledge down the massive slopes in the park. It really is a magical park 🙂
Looking forward to seeing Lettie xxxx
How’s your week been? Did you cacth Tova today? She is incredible: has a very calming aura about her

Thanks for the mention Marv, great day, don’t know how the presenters do it, marvelous. Love Tova, I have met her twice and she is just such a lady, got the TSV yesterday, bargain. Have a good week.

    Hi Marverine,
Thank you for your note – that was very sweet of you, I wasn’t expecting a reply back but thank you and glad you like Lettie! She’s driven us a bit mad this weekend but the last owners only kept her for 15 days and we’re determined to be her “Furrever Home” if poss!
I did see the Tova show and so glad to hear she’s lovely – Margaret obviously feels the same! – methinks I’ll have to treat myself to the next Beauty Bash if she’s going to be there again.
Sorry this is a bit brief but Lettie is trying to get my attention so will write more after your next blog!
