Hello everyone and welcome to another blog.
I’m going to be cliché and talk about the weather – gosh it’s hot!! Too hot for me I must admit. Winter is more my season at the best of times but if the temperature is above twenty five I’m pretty much useless and, if I’m honest, quite grumpy! Of course I am smothered in Ultrasun every time I leave the house but the heat just makes me feel awful as it is. So, glad to be at QVC in air-conditioned studios lots over the next few weeks!
The work on the house has been steaming ahead with new radiators (strange to be thinking about the heating at this time of year) thanks to a friend of ours. The dining room wallpaper is mostly removed and we just need to sort the electric in there before we skim with plaster. So it still looks awful, but progress is being made.
In the kitchen we have FINALLY had the splashback tiles done. Our neighbor across the road is a tiler so he had a very short commute to work for a couple of days and his dog Bill came to play with Monty in the mornings while he worked. I am so pleased with how the tiles look and it has really made it seem a bit more like a proper new kitchen. That is, until you look at the floor, which is still yet to be tiled – we’re hoping he can do that in August sometime. What do you think?
At the weekend I went to the wedding of my oldest friend – I’ve known her since we were 4 and we always end up doing things at the same time even as life and time has drifted us apart more. So no surprise really that, after buying houses within months of each other, getting engaged within months, we have also got married within a few months of each other too. It was a very hot sunny day for them, which was a relief because it had been pouring with rain the day before. My whole family were invited and we had a great day – here’s a photo of us all that you might have seen on my Instagram. I’m laughing because Mum had been holding a canape and, when told to put it down for the photo, she popped it whole into her mouth and tried (failed) to smile normally.
QVC is busy as always and I want to tell you about a couple of Today’s Special Value deals coming up. One is a Denim & Co. soft denim jacket that will be this Friday’s (26th) TSV. It will, of course, be pre-launched at 9pm on Thursday. I saw Carla this week and got to try it on.
It’s a lovely denim jacket because it is soft, light and stretchy. It feels a little more like a sweatshirt than denim actually – a perfect summer cover up that can layer over thicker pieces in Autumn. There are 2 classic denim tones, a Khaki, which I’m wearing in the photo, a Blush and a White option, so something for everyone. I love the shaping, which includes a lovely rounded back and curved seams. I reckon this one’ll go fast, so be ready for it!
The following Friday, 2nd August (AUGUST? How is it nearly August?!) we have a really stylish bag from Ashwood. I love Ashwood handbags, not only because they are really classy and well-designed but also because they make leather bags so much more affordable. This offering is going to be a smaller cross-body bag in a more boxy style that we’ve seen a lot of in fashion magazines. So, as usual with Ashwood, we have style and functionality in one neat package of real leather. Oh, and of course, fabulous colours to choose from.
The style Big Deal this week is a fab jumpsuit from Kim & Co that is proving very popular, with sizes already selling out. It’s available in three colours and both petite and regular lengths.
I’ve been browsing the app recently and I’ve seen some new Joules pieces I need to order and I’ve got my eyes on a few new lippies as I’m really enjoying a bold lip look recently. I’ve always liked it but tended to save it for events or occasions but now I find myself wearing a bright lipstick more and more just every day. It cheers me up actually and I feel like it brightens a tired face because life has been busy and my face has been tired a lot lately! Apparently its National Lipstick Day next Monday 29th, so if now isn’t the time for some lip shopping I don’t know when is!
Right, that’s it from me for this week. Thanks for reading and I hope you manage to stay cool. I know a lot of you will be enjoying the heat but I plan to be inside a lot. I’m actually on a trip up to Yorkshire so hoping the north will be cooler!
Enjoy the rest of your week,
