Toby’s poorly foot and my challenge for 2013!

Dale running his half marathonHi to all again,

I hope wherever you live, you've been having the little Spring taster that we've had in the South this week – I know I shouldn't say it too loud as we could still easily have more snow but it was really uplifting, it even fooled the birds and certainly put smiles on faces all around.

If you follow me on Twitter, you'll probably have read that Toby has ripped another claw and was feeling very sorry for himself.

Unfortunately it's a problem he's had since a puppy and happens regularly, which is why he has learned to deal with it so well, with a little help from us in the form of pain relief and salt baths (just for his paw !). Luckily they don't get infected and he's usually running around again in two/three days.

Last week, I was only on-air on Wednesday but I was still at the Q, Thursday and Friday, attending various meetings and catching up with bits and pieces, together with filming a Pilot for a new show concept.

This week however, I'm on-air from Wednesday to Sunday. There's a tremendous variety of great shows I'll be presenting including Liz Earle, In the Kitchen, Michelle Hope etc. On Thursday I'll be presenting the last two hours of "Around the World in 80 Gems" between 10pm and midnight. this is a wonderful seven hour event featuring a fantastic variety of you've guessed it 80 Gem stones, all set in Sterling Silver.

607349There's something for every taste and I've picked out a couple of items that feature in my 2 hours – In my 10pm hour I have Item: 607349 a HUGE faceted Taiwanese Black Calcite ring with a substantial Sterling silver gallery and shank – very impressive at under £55!

In the 11pm hour Item: 607383 a stunning pair of Chinese Fluorite Earrings – they are an amazing deep purple and really stood out on the Buyer's tray placed before me last week – 3.7cts in total, arranged in an elegant drop design under £30!

On Saturday Night into Sunday I'll be with my old pal Richard Jackson for the launch of a wonderful Flower Power TSV in a two hour show at midnight which also officially launches our Gardening Season. So Perhaps Spring really is on it's way!

I really am serious this year about losing a little excess weight and toning up a bit – Throughout my life I have always been reasonably fit and so there's no real excuse for letting myself go! I can think of hundreds of excuses though as I wade through another Pizza, but the truth is I'm happier when I'm not overweight – so there – I've said it out loud in print and I'll have to do something about it now!

With this in mind I found an old photo of me taken at around the 10 mile mark of a Half Marathon in 1984! Not sure what amused me – perhaps I caught a glimpse of my shorts in a shop window!

Stay safe, warm and fit x

Hey Dale, great pic, you looked like the run was a piece of cake & you’d just been running a few mins & were as fresh as a daisy, i’m sure that with your positive attitude that getting back to the fitness level you want will just be a matter of course for you & lets face it, you’re in the right place to get the equipment or expert advice should you need it. Good luck & could you lose a bit for me (i have some mobility probs which has caused me to be larger now through inactivity – i used to be slim & exercise mad – so if you could run or work out a bit extra for me it would be appreciated & you could considerate it as a “Really Good Deed” hahaha!
Poor Toby, give him a cuddle from me ( & every other dog lover that reads your blog & sighs thinking “poor wee (okay Big) thing!
Looking forward to your shows, you have a lovely manner, good sense of humour & are very informative & are a pleasure to watch!
    Thank you x Carrie

    Hi Dale
Poor Toby, we have a lurcher – Marley, who broke a claw not at all nice .It included an expensive trip to the vet, and Marley taking over the sofa for several days!!!.
She woofles her sympathy to Toby xxx
and all I feel I can say to you is……118 I trust that your Man flu was not a result of you still wearing such short shorts!!!

Yeaaahhhhhh….. Gail’s back! And bang on the money with her comment to boot! Although I’m sure we wouldn’t mind helping Dale get fit would we G?!!
Blimey D, you wear short shorts! Maybe your ‘get fit’ goal should be aiming to get into those again for us on an ‘Anything Goes’ show or would that one be an ‘Everything Shows’ show!!
Love to Toby. Reminds me, I need to give my little tiger a pediclaw tomorrow!
Thanks for reading my tweet out on the Charlie Bears show. I ordered ‘Fish’ mainly cos I had to have bearlicious ‘Mushy Pea’ on the auto delivery. I have to tell you though I am delighted with Fish, he’s a lovely big boy!
Looking forward to the TSV tonight, though can you ask RJ what he’s done with the photo of my big ones …….. you know …….. my begonias! I haven’t seen them on air yet!
    Love and stuff

Hi Carrie, Thank you so much for your lovely comments. Im sorry you cant run around as much as you used to, I havent really run since I injured a disc through running on hard surfaces (mostly roads) and the occasional kitchen work top ! But There are plenty of other ways to exercise, I’ve just been a bit lazy x

Hi Bevs – all I needed was a moustache ! But I think the shorts were ‘Wham’ inspired ! Well it was the 80’s ! The hair was real as well ha ha ! X
Hi Gail, just as well, If I start running again I’ll try to re create the pose with the 2013 Silver Fox mullet ! X
Toby is now running freely and very grateful for all your collective kind concern xx

Marrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrvelous Ma, you is funny, you really make me smile x Hello Daleo, so glad that Toby is okay now. Ma, whats with the ‘bang on the money with her comment to boot’, ha ha. Everyone’s gone slang mad!! Even Daleo with his ‘mullet’ comment. Ma, I’m not into toys, well cuddly ones anyway!!
I also was wondering what happened to the photo of your Begonias Ma. It’s the photo of Dale’s big ones that I’m still waiting to see. For two years you’ve been telling us that we must see the size of your Begonias Dale; well, we’re still waiting, aren’t we Ma?
Gordan Bennett, is that the time. I’m ‘orf to have me Holy Ghost and Steve McQueens before I go wash the old Jam Jar.
    G xx

Mon Douche ! Gail and Ma – thank you both – you do make me smile and as you know I like to do that a lot !
Gail follow me on twitter like Ma and I can read out your tweets too ! I must be honest I wasn’t fussed about Twitter but I now really enjoy it – you can pick and choose when you tweet, if at all ! Or just read others – it’s up to you to get involved as little or as much as you like and that’s why I like it.
    Thanks again D xx

LOL G, “Holy Ghost and Steve McQueens”, is that beans on toast??!!
D’ya think there’s going to be any Yankee panky on Friday with D wiggling his wick?!!
And I think D is going to try passing off the photo of my begonias as his begonias! Watch this space!!

I’m ahead of you Dale as I already follow yourself and Ma. I would love to be in your gang, nearly 2,000 of them, but like you at the beginning I’m not really sure about Twitter, time being very precious and all that. Watch this space!
I hope Rosa’s Welsh message last night was authentic, ha ha. Could have been a My Big Fat Greek Wedding moment, remember that D? Congratulations to Rosa too x
    Morning Ma xx
