I can’t imagine a single person in the land being able to complain that there’s been “nothing to watch on TV” this last month! Never mind the likes of Versailles, Poldark and the newly introduced Picnic at Hanging Rock, the World Cup and Wimbledon have kept us right royally entertained!
It’s a shame that England didn’t bring the trophy home from Russia, but they made a supreme effort. I saw an advert for William Hill the bookies today commenting that when they said “Football’s Coming Home” they hadn’t stated which year… 10/1 odds currently on us winning in 2022! And hats off to all those who coped with the humongous heat on Centre Court – including the audience – and the tennis champions who kept us guessing as to which of them would make the loudest and most peculiar noise whilst serving! 🙂
We had our fair share of fun at home too when Colin found a table football game at the local dump which he paid a fiver for! My sister Linda and I had a whale of a time trying to keep the ball in play and I was thrilled when I actually scored a goal! Honey and I had our own World Cup set up too, and she called her ball ‘Fensagenser’… I don’t know why either! I got her a little swing seat for the garden, and she brought all her toys down to share the space with her – bless her.
And bless you too, for all your lovely comments last week, and for all your tips on keeping the mosquitoes at bay! I’ve yet to try the Avon body spray, but the citronella candle helped – thank you!
Kath Boddy, I’ve been thinking of you and I do hope your visit to the breast clinic wasn’t too difficult for you. Do let me know won’t you? And Tricia, your kind words have spurred me on in my research for self-publication of my book. I know Lucy’s got a few pointers for me too, and I’m hoping to add a few chapters to my website prior to that, but I’ll keep you up to date with all that.
I must keep you in the loop with some of the incredible TSVs that are heading your way too, and of course there’s Christmas in July next week on the 25th! Some folk still disbelieve me when I tell them that QVC dedicate the entire day to all things festive, but judging by how busy it is, I know there are far more of you who tune in and make the best of the bargains and buy well ahead of the big day!
This year I’m bringing you the Christmas TSV next Wednesday – a set of lanterns with LED candles from Alison Cork’s interiors range. I still have one of the first lanterns she brought to QVC and I know these will be fabulous too. We’ve got Festive Food hours, Christmas Lighting, Home Reflections and plenty more besides, so make space in your cupboards so you can hide things away until December!
You’ve got nowhere near as long to wait for our Yankee Candle TSV though, and you’ll want to have these out on display and filling your home with fabulous fragrance. On the 24th July you will be able to buy three jar candles – two large and one medium – for under £28 and available in 3 Easy Pay instalments. The choices are incredibly diverse: from exotic Black Coconut to cocooning Soft Blanket, rich and fruity Delicious Guava or clean Turquoise Sky, and then my favourite Pink Sands. Imagine at the end of another sunny day, relaxing on a beautiful beach where the sand is still warm and the scent of sea clover is in the air… that’s what Pink Sands is to me. All you have to do is find your favourite.
Something I couldn’t show you last time on the blog was my anniversary present from Colin. That said, I’m sure you’ve spotted me wearing it on air by now. I am now the VERY proud owner of this stunning tanzanite and diamond ring, and yes it was from QVC. To be fair, I did give Colin a bit of a heads up on it as there were only three remaining and they were at clearance price, so it was an incredible time to invest in such a beautiful piece of jewellery. I am thrilled skinny with it, and feel very spoilt. Incredible that one of the three was the right size for me!
Mally actually commented on it when I worked with her at the weekend, and she has an incredible collection of jewellery, most of which she wears all the time! One of her team took this photo of us before her show, while another girly on the floor at her feet. I thought you might like to come up with a caption for this picture?
Or how about this one – me trying to unlock my knees before my Gtech hour! I’ll see if I can find something nice for whoever sends the funniest one in 🙂
One final photo I wanted to share with you is of my son Sam and his lovely puppy Diesel. Sam’s recovering well from his jaw surgery, and Diesel is his constant companion. It’s hard for me to believe that it was 11 years ago today when Sam was involved in the road accident that caused him to lose his leg. So many years, and so much for him to have had to contend with, but I am very proud of the man he has become.
With my love,
