The proud hand!

Having taken part in so many gardening shows with Michael Perry, Richard Jackson and the rest of the gang, I always love to see pictures of viewers plants and gardens. Being a keen gardener myself I am amazed at how good their plants look and I love how so many people hold up a ‘proud hand’ to show of the fruits of their labours. When I take pictures of my proud attempts, they always look a little underwhelming.  Well this year I have been watering well and feeding regularly and things are looking good.  So get ready for the ‘proud hand’!

I have been using Richard Jackson’s Flower Power and it has been great, but also I have supplemented in places with Wet-N-Grow, which has made a huge difference so some of my dry beds.

All the care I have been taking and took last year, is paying off. I am particularly proud of my dahlia, which I have now been growing for three years and last winter lived in a special wrapping in my shed, and this year has grown wonderfully on a big pot.

Of course all the work in the garden does play merry hell with your hands, which I ordinarily wouldn’t  really care about, except I have to do lots of Diamonique shows with Alison O’Reilly, so I have to keep my hands looking OK.

I have been saving money with L’Occitane hand wash refills and great hand cream and so far I think I have managed well.

My strawberries from Thompson & Morgan are doing really well but I fear may be at peak production just when we are way on holiday, and my kiwi plant from Plants2Gardens is doing brilliantly and especially so after I pinched it out and it threw loads of extra shoots.

Out back the fruit trees are doing well since I cleared all the weeds away, but despite my watering a bit they are looking a bit thirsty so hoping for a shower or two soon like we had at the weekend.

Hope you have a great summer and your garden continues to provide challenges and happiness through the summer.

On the show he did say would have fruit like small grapes this year but nothing . I also bought the patio Apple tree and the ,’stella’ cherry tree… fruit as promised. I am so disappointed
