Well hopefully by this time you’ll be on your way to banishing those January blues. I have to admit it is such a down month at the best of times and I really detest the cold weather so much so that I’m sure I was destined to be born somewhere sunny, but here I am a November birthday, suffering the cold in the UK. If the truth be known I wouldn’t dream of living anywhere else but I do tend to hibernate a little in the winter.
I love a slice of lemon in a mug of hot water when it’s cold, it’s really warming and superb for cleansing the system but that’s as far as my detox goes I’m afraid as I have to admit my new guilty pleasure is pies!
Now, I do blame Brett Hornby for this because I was always a fan of The Real Pie Company who have won so many awards, but since our last hour together I have become something of a Real Pie addict. It might have something to do with the fact that during the course of the hour Brett had cooked me 17 pies to taste on your behalf and I could honestly say I could have quite easily munched through 17 more!
If you haven’t tried these delectable offerings and are partial to a pie you will seriously not be disappointed they are ‘crammed to the crust’ with all British ingredients and baked to perfection in pastry that just melts in your mouth.
When you order from QVC your pies are made to your order and baked the very next day. We had a very busy hour on air this month and I can see the look in Brett’s face as although he and the team are passionate about what they do, he knows they are in for some long baking days ahead to fulfil all those QVC orders on time.
I think when the weather is cold you need a hearty meal inside you and joking aside it stops you from snacking on sweet treats because it’s such a satisfying meal and the pie fillings are so substantial they would stand up as a meal in themselves.
My all-time favourite pie is the Steak and Stilton, which is a little weird because I don’t actually like stilton cheese, but this pie is delicious in fact they all are, I haven’t had one that I didn’t like and they have a vegetarian range too.
It’s also an easy meal. I don’t know about you but I run out of ideas of what to feed the family at times so pie night really comes in handy and if you forget to defrost them you can cook straight from the freezer. There are a variety of steak pies to choose – from steak and mushroom is another of my favourites, and the chicken and ham is another favourite of mine. While you’re browsing you must try the pasties which are just the best, and the sausage rolls which are a meal in themselves!
If after all that you have room in your freezer for dessert, the fruit pies are amazing and oh my goodness, the crumbles are beyond words!
Whatever you decide to go for you will definitely be back for more, but it’s great to know that even award-winning pies come backed with our 30 day money back guarantee! So what have you got to lose? Start sampling and let me know on Twitter what your favourite pie is – just tweet me @jillyqvc.
Before I leave you please make a date with me for midnight on Saturday 28th January when the lovely Lee Holbein and I will be launching the Amazon Echo Today’s Special Value offer.
This is the first time we have had this incredible product as a Today’s Special Value, so I have a feeling it’s going to go crazy. It’s hard to describe exactly what it does, all I can say is every home should have one so please tune in to the demonstrations at midnight and be prepared to be amazed!
