The last Morning Style show

Next week sees the final show in the current run of Morning Style and we plan to finish the series with a fabulous hour of gorgeous, glam outfits to bring a touch of luxe to your wardrobe in time for autumn and the approach to the Christmas party season.

Quality fabrics such as lush velvet and clever cuts to flatter a variety of shapes bring tremendous versatility to each piece so that you can wear in many ways and make every penny you spend count several times over.

I’m planning on combining two of my favourite designers in my outfit – featured brand for this week’s show, Join Clothes, and MarlaWynne. Marla’s velvet balloon dress (brilliant value at £69 + P&P, and 10 out of 11 reviewers giving it top marks) was incredibly popular last autumn, selling out in all but a handful of the black option in size 3XL. Well, it will make its comeback next week and I’ll be grabbing a burgundy sample as soon as they reach our warehouse.

I aim to team it with a brand new Join jacket, also in velvet at £99. I’m not always sure about double velvet, but this edge-to-edge jacket has textured stripes which create a different feel and I think (/hope) it will work well. It’s available in black, luscious gold or a bright navy and looks absolutely gorgeous. I’m also on the lookout for my ‘Mother of the Bride’ outfit for Rebecca’s wedding, on 19th December. I’m not really a classic ‘knee length fitted dress and matching jacket’ kind of person – I’d like to find something with a little more edge and personality. Being so close to Christmas I think velvet might just fit the bill so I’m excited to see and feel these clothes in the flesh – up to now I’ve only seen photos.

For luxury with a more casual feel, we’ll be featuring a pair of Join velvet yoga trousers for the first time – I’m not sure they’ll last the hour, they are oh-so-comfy and totally ab fab!

We’re also hoping to have a bit of a coup for the show – celebrity designer Julien MacDonald already treats us to his jewellery pieces but the exciting news is that he has now created a range of fashion for us too! I’m hoping that we can give you a sneak preview of a stunning dress at £64 in advance of the big launch of his full range a week later.

I hope you’ve enjoyed Morning Style these last few months, and will join us if you can when the show returns in March. We’ve seen so many varied outfits – some you may have loved (and bought!), and others really not your style. But that’s fashion for you, how boring would it be if we all looked the same?

IMG_0120 (2)The point of the show is to help you find your way around the many different labels we have at QVC to create your own unique look, and also to maybe tempt you to try something a little different to your usual style. Charlotte, our stylist, certainly did that for me when she suggested I try a strapless jumpsuit from Kim & Co that can also be worn as yoga-waisted harem trousers. I almost said no as I don’t think I can really carry off a jumpsuit, especially one without a proper top! But I tried it (with a Join jacket to cover my bare shoulders) and wow! I loved it and so did you – it was one of the highlights of the series.

156358Charlotte herself is young, tall and slim with endless legs, and looks effortlessly good in anything, but I’ve learnt to trust her judgement when she thinks I should try something beyond my comfort zone. With our 30 day money back guarantee as a safety net I hope you feel able to take a small risk occasionally. If the strapless jumpsuit look is a step too far but you fancy giving the on-trend one-piece theme a go, try another Kim & Co style which features 3/4 length sleeves. It set the phones alight when we showed it to you in August – some options sold out but the larger sizes are still in stock.

You’ve enjoyed some of the accessories that we’ve featured on the show too. They can really pull an outfit together and at this time of year there’s nothing better than a scarf to add some colour – or warmth – to an outfit. At an affordable £22 I have bought the one from Frank Usher that we featured last week. And for me, one of the best things about September is that I can start wearing my favourite boots again. A Clarks pair I bought last year have continued to feature in this year’s shows – with contrast laces, a wearable wedge heel, a cosy faux fur trim and great reviews I’d urge you to take a look!

And I hope you cannot just take a look at Wednesday’s show but join us for the entire hour – I believe there will be at least one thing you can’t resist! If you can’t manage 10am remember we repeat the show on QVC Style at 7pm the same day. Failing that, check out the Morning Style page where you can watch again for a week after the show and find details of everything that has featured on the catwalk.

Finally, I’d like to thank Charlotte, our stylist, for her huge hard work in putting together the outfits that we enjoy each week, and also our lovely models for wearing them so well. I hope you are as inspired as I am!

Hope to have your company on Wednesday.

‘Til then, take care.

Kathy x

Kathy I will miss your show and I know that you must have had some influence on Emu boots which had size 9 in their TSV. Thank you for all the great ideas.

I have really enjoyed Morning Style, your enthusiasm for fashion and trying something new is infectious. I particulary like the shows with Leslie Ebbots, she is so knowledgable, and you are fashion opposites so can wear the same clothes in different ways. Keep up the good work and bring the show back asap. Look forward to seeing pics of your wedding outfit.

I’m so sorry Morning Style has come to an end. It’s my favourite show, even though it’s proved rather expensive! I love getting ideas of how to mix and match the different ranges and Kathy always inspires me – the things she looks great in tend to suit me too. Look forward to Morning Style’s return next year.

Hi Kathy – I do not always get a chance to watch your show but often catch up on QVC Style repeat – I love the format of the show – I am an older lady who still loves a wee bit of style and I would quite like you to show how items can be adapted for us “oldies”. I would probably buy more Join clothes but being bigger they would not quite fit. I bought a purple dress in XL from Join and I hope they bring more larger sizes. I also buy when I can Marla Wynn as I love unstructured clothes. – cheers Jane x
