The kids are back, Westfield shopping and Black Swan

Brad, Debbie and LaurenNot long to go now till Christmas – eeeek! To kick off, I just have to tell you about Christmas pressie heaven coming soon – the crystal bracelets are back this week! And they're on Buy More Save More again! (TSV this Friday at midnight/Saturday 10th). Plus – big news – Apple comes to QVC! The debut with Dale is on Thursday next week (Thursday 15th December at 10pm – see below). Also this week…

– The girls hit the shops in search of bargains – which QVC product saved my neck?!
- Full house – the kids come home for the weekend
- Fifty first dates – a new concept for finding a man! Lol.
- And Black Swan on DVD

Kids over, Liz over
Brad and KariOh my goodness, I loved having a full house last weekend! Not only were the kids back, but Brad's fiancée Kari, and also my writing pal from Arvon Inverness, Liz.

It was a packed weekend – Liz and I went next door to the pub for a lovely drink, and catch up, and banter with Brad and Kari, then my girl Lolly joined us late Friday evening. I had to tidy the house and the bedrooms like I haven't done in ages!

My little room was already tidier thanks to the Space Saver bags TSV I'd used a few weeks ago, and I put on the bed the absolutely gorgeous 600TC Northern Nights purple jacquard bedding – I felt very proud when I showed Liz to the room, that's for sure!

Liz went home on the Saturday after a leisurely cooked brekkie, and I spent the afternoon Christmas shopping in Dorking with the kids and watching some nice telly. It's been ages since they've been here with me all at once, and very nice it was too. I'll resist saying it was also nice when they all left again, now I'm getting used to having the house to myself, honest! Lol.

Trollied! Christmas shopping the Camouflage Company way!
Linda, Mum and Debbie out shopping with the Camouflage Company trolleyOh thank GOODNESS I ordered the Camouflage Company trolley a week or so ago! Mum, sister Linda, sis-in-law Nicky and I went on our annual 'Christmas shopping day out' and as usual got loaded up with bags!

Tons of shoes in New Look (where I plunder their wider feet selection!) and Christmas pressies, so instead of aching arms, or a trip back to the car park, I just put loads of them in the trolley! Very easy it was to use, too, and to fold down again afterwards. Mum even used it on the train home, to help carry her bottles she'd purchased. So another product highly recommended!

I love Westfield, as it's all under cover and has so much choice, without being miles apart. Fab for the things I can't get on QVC. Son Brad and I will be going there next week to buy his Christmas pressie clothes, as we've done the last couple of years, can't wait! Where do you go?

New dating idea – 50 first dates
OK, so it's all based on the law of averages, right? But having discussed this concept with some pals recently, I've decided that whilst I can't (won't!!) fill you in on the actual details of my current 'ManPlan', I'll hint at it. Basically, we came to the conclusion that if you never get out and meet new people, your chances of hitting the jackpot are very low! It's a bit like saying you'll never win the lottery if you don't at least buy a ticket. Or 50 tickets. Or one a week for a year…

So the aim is to have at least 50 first dates over the next year or so (no rush!!). I won't write about them in the same week I go on them, so if you happen to be one of them reading this (!) you won't be able to tell if it's you as I'll be changing the names and where we go – jumbling them all up to retain a bit of secrecy. Hah!

But I'm currently on number four. Four down, 46 to go. Anyone got any suggestions? I may run out of options before too long! Haha! If so, tell them to contact me on twitter (@debbieflint) – otherwise it might be fifty years before I've found enough men to want to go on 50 first dates with me! Lol. Still, let's see how it progresses and I'll add the odd update to this blog so do come back regularly to see how I've been getting along! None so far have made me want to have a second date, so the hunt for Mr Right continues… (in the meantime, to quote the classic joke, Mr 'Right Now' might do for now – hehe!).

Il Divo cdMaybe one of Il Divo would be interested? Only kidding! But their CD is a fab accompaniment for a quiet night in, let me tell you!

Sorry, I'm getting distracted. So – funniest moment so far? The man – I shall call him 'Tony' – who just prior to our dinner together, texted me – 'Kay, I adore you' – haha!

Still met up for a meal that night tho' – it's fine to just make new friends and it was quite a relief as I knew we wouldn't be totally compatible as he's got no kids yet and is still young enough to have them, or change his mind and want them at some point in the future! So it was serendipity that he texted the wrong person a message meant for his ex. And anyway, I was hungry and I needed to use up my Henry J Beans voucher! But how funny. Onwards and upwards as they say! Or sideways (loved that film!).

And finally
Christmas cardWell the Christmas cards have been coming in thick and fast, and I have to say thank you to those of you sending them, and remembering to put their name and address inside (SAE even better) – 'cos as promised, I WILL be sending you one in return!

Have to say I got one this week that made me smile so thought I'd show you it – thanks to Nigel one of my regular commenters, for a lovely black Labrador card – and the caption on the back? 'Holly'! That's the name of my oldest pog, so well-chosen card, Nige! Thanks matey!

WATCH: Oscar-nominated 'Black Swan' is this week's DVD recommendation. So many people raved about Natalie Portman's performance in this I just had to see it. It's a gripping, very psychological thriller, with some twists and turns and incredible visual effects as we follow a ballet dancer's descent into madness, fuelled by her obsession with a fellow dancer and an XXXX mother. Well worth seeing – if you're a film aficionado, you really can't miss it.

Probably not one to watch with the kids tho&#39 ;, given some of the sex scenes! Lol. But it's all in the best pooooosssible taste! I just love Mila Kunis who plays as fellow dancer too, especially since she was so good in 'Friends With Benefits' in the autumn.

Still, 'Black Swan' gets around a 7 and three quarters from me – that's quite high in case you wondered, if you haven't been following my scoring on previous blogs! If you've seen it, what did you think? Or do you have any other recommendations for us all this week? This blog gets around  8000 hits a week, so do leave a comment as many others may benefit from your words.

EAT: OK, I’ve been avoiding cow's milk and trying goats in my tea and coffee – and it's not too bad. But last week, I met up with Gabrielle Bradshaw for a couple of hours and a couple of lattes in Costa inside Tesco New Malden, and lo and behold, my belly was so bloated later that night. Coincidence? The trial continues…

QVC: apart from the Entice crystal bracelets we've all been wearing, which are back on Saturday 10th, watch out for these highlights over the next week or so…

• TOVA fragrance relaunch – oh my goodness there are some loooovely gift ideas in wonderful packaging coming from Tova when she returns on Monday 12th – join me earlier than normal at 1pm in the afternoon – it'll be busy!

• HEADS UP! – ALERT! – APPLE comes to QVC on Thursday 15th at 10PM! Dale will have a fab selection of this massive brand for the first time, including the iPad, Nano and Touch – find out why so many people rave about this brand by purchasing from us – on Easy Pay instalments!

WinterTrax• And my 'Last Minute Shopping' show with Jill on Saturday 17th. It's a two-hour show packed full of gift ideas. And not all WinterTrax! (Although I have just ordered four more pairs for me and for friends for the rotten weather that's on its way!)

See below for my top product this week, and have a fab week ahead! Don't forget to leave me a comment below!

This week I are been mostly using:
Genius Fridge DeodoriserThe Genius Air Plus Ionic Preserver and Fridge Deodoriser. This little gadget can save you pounds and pounds and keep food fresh in the fridge. Really. Get one and try it – bet you see what a difference it can make within the 30 day try-out period!

I had some peppers in the fridge and some pears, that lasted at least twice as long as they usually would – I could eat them and not throw them away. Not only money-saving but anguish-saving too – as I avoided that 'goddammit' moment I open the bin and wasted food gets chucked! Do give it a go – well worth the money long term. Have just bought Lauren and Nick one as it happens! Winging its way to them as we speak…

HI again Debs, it’s Jules here!
just caught a bit of your show earlier with George Simonton. I loved those little moments when George ‘tested’ you, ‘now, what have we done with the fabric here, Debbie…!’ and also some of the show with Laura Gellar, ie her in the mornings, and your comment about you being limited stock!!! a real LOL moment! There is so much temptation with QVC, dammit, with the fashion, jewellery, well most things…..!
i’m interested in some of the things you are, in my own way, eg exploring spiritual info , writing etc so i guess those are some of the reasons i enjoy reading your blogs and seeing you on air. I had some more thoughts on the astrology but won’t go on at lentht at the mo, ie how much we should , or could , look into it , eg beforehand (relationships), ( i guess it’s a bit of a double edged sword – maybe it’s better to go with the flow of life and see whether we are attracted in other ways.or, its interesting to look , but – suppose it doesn’t look a totally harmonious relationship in all respects ,but may still be great in other ways and be valuable for our growth?? Also ive read that soulmate type connections can sometimes be ‘challenging’… in other words praps we shouldnt NOT meet someone cos of how it sounds astrologically? im not sure !!! I think astrology is full of these sort of dilemmas. also 50 first dates sounds exhausting but will follow with interest!! let me know any ideas myself…….!
sorry i went on a bit , love , Jules xx

Good Evening Debs, Sat up in bed and catching up with your blog while the dog and hubby are snoring bliss Lol. Before he fell asleep he told me he has worked many times in Westfield resurfacing the bus stations and service yards( sounds exciting hey!! )
I spent today shopping in Llandudno with my mother and mother-in- law as they both have birthdays this week they were treated to lunch and we managed to do a little shopping in between many stops for coffee.
This dating sounds one hell of a challenge for you Debs, my younger sister and I know she won’t mend me mentioning this met her partner through a dating site it took her about a year but she eventually went back to a nice man she met earlier on in the year and on the second date they just clicked and it’s still going strong.
Really looking forward to the Apple show using my iPad at the moment just love it!!
Thought the first photo of you with Lauren and Brad was a really nice pic gosh your children tower over you,you all look really happy.
A day of cooking for me on Monday in between cattery duties Mince pies and sausage rolls some for us and some for the Christmas Church Fete ( I will go to heaven Lol)
Have a good week Debs Happy Christmas Shopping!!

    Hi Debs,
Just a quick question as it’s teatime! As a fellow dog owner I’m guessing you have a steam mop? I saw your presentation in that gorgeous black dress…of the H20 mop and bought it. We have very mixed reviews I see! So far mine’s grand but I’m thinking that like another reviewer, have I picked up the wrong end of the stick? I thought it was meant to kill the bugs instantly – hence why I bought it! But it seems that you have to hold it over every area for 15seconds to sanitise?! It’d take forever!! Any words of wisdom? I know Kathy uses a steam mop too so ask her if you see her too.

Hi Deb, regarding the 50 new dates……………best of luck and do tell me where you find them!Having been alone for almost 6 years and thinking in the beginning that I would want to find someone I did all the Internet Dating sites, the Speed Dating etc. Well, I lost the will to live!!!Let me tell you there are some real weirdos out there, I could write a book about them myself. I will have to PM you about some of them Deb on FB……… will have a good chuckle I am positive. My friend who lives next door did even worse/better than me depending on how you look at it – at least I didn’t have a date turn up in a rubber kilt! The Speed Dating was something else…………….I sneaked off home at half time!! As I work in a Pub you would think Mr Right would pop in – well not so far. I have come to the conclusion that I am probably better off alone, it seems the longer you are the easier it is and I think it would be difficult now to share a home and all that goes with it. I have made 3 mistakes with husbands because I like “bad boys” and anything else seems boring so go carefully hun……….enjoy yourself! xxxxx

Susan – good question! Tell you what, if you know how hot that steam is, you’ll be quite confident, as I am, in just blasting it in the normal way – a bit longer over grouting in floor tiles maybe – but unless a baby’s crawling around on the floor, for me that should do fine! The thing is, with what we say on the telly, there are all sorts of rules about claims and the wording has to be precise. So if the tests they did used a fifteen second blast, that is what has to be announced. Hope that helps! Glad it’s working! I love steam! Will be defrosting my freezer soon too! : – )

Debs, me again…sorry to be a pain! I just know you’re on the computer a lot and I wondered if you’d be able to do me a favour? I am suffering from bad ezcema patches ON my eyelids at the minute…really sore even to take off mascara with Cleanse and Polish!! I also have bad patches between my fingers – though propolis is helping. I’m wondering if you could ask Alison if Shea Butter is the best still and if I can use ON my eyelids?? I’m late 20’s and don’t suffer ezcema – except I get very dry legs. My face is oily and I use Elemis though I’m thinking about B.E. range as it’s cheaper.

Debbie M – how fascinating to hear your story hon! I love you guys telling me your similar dating tales! keep them coming – in fact – which ones CAN you share?!!
I know exactly what you mean about who you find on the web, but – and it’s a big but! – you do hear stories about people finding soul mates and marrying so you never know! I do firmly believe that what you expect will come to pass, (a la ‘the Secret’) – so I stopped expecting to find ‘inappropriate’ people, shall we say, according to my tick-list (and it’s quite comprehensive I can tell you!!). And now I ‘expect’ that I will meet some lovely people and have some fun, and even if there are one or two of the Other Type along the way, that’s all grist to the mill! (whatever ‘grist’ means!) lol.
But do share more – I luv it!

The rest of the novel is readable, but now I’m onto the final revisions for that too, in case the editor requests to see the rest! ANyway sometimes it takes months and months to hear back so it’s just a waiting game now! Fingers crossed eh!
Thanks for commenting – hope you will continue to do so in 2012! I love hearing from you all!
