Those of you who are old enough will remember that the title of my blog this week was also the title of a Tom Jones hit that dates back to 1967 – the year I started at the West Bridgford Grammar School! How amazing that he is still going strong in the entertainment industry. In my eyes, he is a proper star/celebrity.
The title is really referring to my lawn, of course, which was laid by our gardener, Dennis, aided and abetted by ‘him indoors’ while I was at QVC last Saturday. What a great job they have done. I have my Richard Jackson Lawn Magic (the TSV from last Sunday) on standby, ready to apply on Saturday as advised by RJ himself.
I hope you all enjoyed the gardening day – I certainly did. It was a pleasure to work with George Clowes from de Jager. I was picking both his and Richard Jackson’s brains on ideas for planting in my garden to give year-round interest, and both have agreed to appear on my series of gardening blogs over the coming months. There will be tips and advice for all of us on what to plant when and where – watch this space.
Actually, I’m going to continue the Tom Jones theme with another of his hits: ‘What’s New Pussycat’, because Wilfie has been at the vet again. It was only to have his claws clipped though, as he is a house cat, but it was the same day as a writer who I follow on Twitter requested puppy pictures because she was feeling a bit low. Puppy photos I can’t help with, but I tweeted the pic of Wilfie (above) and this one from when he was about seven weeks old – sooooooo cute! He’s now not far off seven years old and, as you can see, considerably bigger, although just as adorable in my opinion.
So, technically I’m on Annual Leave again – using it up before the end of March – so I’ll keep this week’s blog fairly brief as I have rather a lot of ‘other’ writing to get on with! I do want to point you in the direction of a couple of beauty TSVs we have coming up this weekend though… in fact, I think they may both already be available on our website if you’re out and about this weekend.
The first is from Margaret Dabbs, and is a collection of supersizes. It’s the perfect time of year to start getting your feet ‘sandal-ready’ – in fact, we have a Clarks TSV peep-toe sandal coming up next Wednesday. I’ll definitely be keeping my eyes open for them as both the gold and mustard colour wedges I wear a lot on-air are former Clarks TSVs – the new ones come in a choice of slim or wide fit, apparently – here’s the item number, 175437(8), although they are not available to order as I write this.
Back to Margaret Dabbs – not only is there the Foot Hygiene Cream and Foot Lotion in the TSV, but there is also an Anti-Ageing Hand Serum which would be a good choice if you’re a keen gardener – or maybe your mum is, as it’s Mothering Sunday next weekend.
Or perhaps she is more a fan of Decleor or Liz Earle? Sunday’s TSV is from Decleor and features the new Cica-Botanic Balm, specifically formulated to target dry and irritated skin on both the face and body. It’s 100% natural ingredients and is enriched with eucalyptus essential oil. Also included in the TSV, which is on four easy pay instalments, is a supersize of the Hydra Floral Everfresh Light Cream, Bi-Phase Caring Cleanser & Make-up Remover, and Aromessence Neroli Amara Oil Serum.
If your mum (or you) prefer Liz Earle, this coming Monday sees the start of the 23rd Anniversary shows.
I can’t believe this photo of Caroline Archer and I was from the 20th Anniversary show, three years ago – time flies!! As most of you probably know, I presented the launch of the Liz Earle brand on QVC with the lady herself. We only had four products to sell in various different collections and duos: Cleanse and Polish, Instant Boost Skin Tonic, Skin Repair and Eyebright. It was a weekday afternoon and the show completely sold out within forty minutes! I know lots of you have been devotees ever since.
As a reminder of where the story began, the brand have put together this collection featuring the original four – another great gift idea.
Well, I need to get back to my writing desk, but not before I grudgingly say well done to Watford, who knocked my team out of the FA Cup. They have drawn Wolves in the next round, who I think will actually win it this year.
And while on the subject of football, good luck to Gareth and the team for their forthcoming international matches.
Hope we get some decent weather this weekend and that we all get time to enjoy it. See you back on-air next Thursday,
