The Great (Bank Holiday) Escape

2

How was your bank holiday weekend? For most of us it was glorious, because we got so lucky with the weather across most of the country. How often does that happen? Normally, on a bank holiday weekend, we are all huddled together somewhere – a pub, a caravan, the front room – cold, damp and miserable but putting a brave face on it because it is a bank holiday weekend and we are supposed to be having a great time! Well this year, none of us had to pretend as it was glorious. Rarely does it work out like that but this Easter it did. Yay!

I headed home to Ireland. To be honest, I was meant to be working but mum had a bit of a health issue and I wanted to be with her and the powers that be at Q Towers agreed with me, so off I went.

I was only home for five days but the weather here in London before I left was cool and I had heard about the weather hotting up towards the weekend, so I was in a quandary as to what to pack? (There is always quite a difference between the weather in London and the weather in Northern Ireland!) When I have this dilemma, my usual resolution is to just pack everything. So that’s what I did. I packed multiple flannel shirts, warm sweaters, three jackets and a gilet, with trousers and footwear to match, of course. What if the weather really did take a turn for the better though, as the weathermen were predicting? Just in case, I also packed T-shirts, summer shoes, short-sleeved summer shirts and of course my Ultrasun SPF 30 and my Ultrasun Face SPF 50+ (by the way, don’t miss out on our Ultrasun Anti-Pigmentation Face Tint SPF 50+, which is our Beauty Product of the Month, so no P&P – see Miceal’s Monthly Must Have in my previous blog for more details!).

With so much to pack and bring with me I was going to need a BIG suitcase but it would need to be light, as well as sturdy and durable. How lucky was I, then, to be asked to try out one of the Heys suitcases from the set that is coming up as a TSV on Thursday (25th April).

This three-piece set of luggage is brought to us from Heys luggage. They were established in 1986 in Toronto, Canada, and have become a global leader in lightweight, luxurious and stylish luggage.

With the Today’s Special Value we get the three-piece Maximus luggage set, made from Heys’ patented “Duraflex”, a very lightweight and impact-resistant yet elastic material that can withstand an impact force of 340kg without cracking or breaking. Which gives me confidence when travelling, knowing how baggage can sometimes be (mis)handled! After all, my case was in the boot of my car, on a tube, in the hold of a plane, picked up and flung around by baggage handlers and bounced around by me – and it still arrived looking perfect!

What’s even better for me is that it comes in five colour choices, each with a stylish yet durable and scuff-resistant textured surface. I travelled with the teal, which is great all-round colour for either gender, any age. There is also a grey, which will do the same and perhaps has a little more of an executive look about it. Go for fresh white if you want that clean, crisp look to your luggage that gets it noticed, or, if you prefer to keep things a little more sedate, go for the wine. For me though, the colour I have my eye on is the yellow. It just says fashion, high end, designer, international jet setter all over it. I have been thinking about it constantly since I saw a picture of it and can just imagine gliding through airports with all eyes on it.

When I say glide, please believe me – these are the free-est moving set of wheels you will have experienced. There are four spoked 360-degree spinner wheels that are durable, smooth and adaptable to any terrain. As an example, my nephew who came to the airport with me in Ireland to drop me off, offered to take my suitcase from the car to check-in. As he was wheeling it along, he actually said to me, ‘Your suitcase is very light, for you’. My family all know I don’t travel light, I never have! Cast your mind back to what I said about how much I packed before leaving. The case was stuffed to the rafters, plus I might have had a couple of errant, stowaway Easter eggs in there as well on the return journey. This case was definitely anything but light. However, because it moved so smoothly with no pulling or dragging it felt really light! I believe you will feel exactly the same way about it.

This is a beautifully designed and engineered set of luggage. Each piece in the set has a built-in, flush-mounted TSA-approved lock for safe and secure travel, ‘comfort grip’ top and side handles for ease when lifting the luggage, and stylish colour-matched zipper pullers with the Heys logo.

The fully-lined interior has great storage capacity and features a buckled compression strap, a built-in zipped divider on one side, and multiple handy storage pockets for compact, organized, stress-free travel. I also used my Z-Pack packing cubes as I now wouldn’t travel without them. Heys also do there own sets as well and are worth investing in, as packing cubes allow me to have really organised packing. They also help with quick and easy unpacking when you arrive and when you are packing up to leave. I even use my Z-Pack packing cubes at home for organisation within my cupboards when I’m not travelling.

Wherever you are planning to travel to this summer and beyond, even if it is only a weekend away or a quick trip to visit the family, like me, make sure you have a great set of luggage that you can rely on and have confidence in. Speaking of confidence, did I mention that these come with a five-year manufacturer’s global warranty? That’s how confident Heys are that you will love these and that they will travel with for years to come.

Until next time, happy travelling!
