Hello Everyone and welcome to another blog.
I’d like to start by saying another huge thanks for all the lovely, kind comments on here and elsewhere after the wedding – you lot are just so wonderful! In fact, because I can’t write thank you cards to all of you – here is the photo we are using for said cards for you to see. I have to say, the photographer nailed the dress/veil shot here, didn’t she?!
I’m hoping you’ve enjoyed the first May bank holiday. We spent the Sunday with our friends, Sam and Sarah, and their little boy, Wills. He loves animals so we met at Lawrence’s parents’ farm and showed him the lambs and cows – he liked the latter best and kept trying to see them in the field once we went inside for a cuppa. Monty came along with us as he loves playing with their sheepdog Bracken and one of our friends’ Boston Terriers came out to play too (they have four!). So it was all good fun and quite sunny on the farm. We then treated ourselves to a pub Sunday roast nearby, which we very much enjoyed! Roast beef followed by profiteroles for me… two of my absolute faves!
Once lunch was finished, we headed over to my parents who live very close by to see the puppies! Well, let’s just say we didn’t just go for Wills’ sake! We all enjoyed watching them scamper around in the garden and giving them cuddles. They are just so much fun right now and I will be very sad to see them go in a week or two; it has been a wonderful experience to have them at my parents’, but it certainly slows everything down… who wants to rush out the door when there are puppies to be cuddled?! Anyway, that was a lovely Sunday full of friends, family and animals. A LOT of animals, actually; lambs, cows, 9 dogs, 4 puppies and 2 cats!
On Bank Holiday Monday, I was with you at QVC and it was a lovely day. Even though we were technically at work on a holiday, there was still a bit of a Bank Holiday vibe going on. I loved doing my first show with Fiona from Decleor and there were some gorgeous skincare products in that hour – check them out on the website if you haven’t already.
This week, I’m back to stripping wallpaper – you may have seen me mention this in previous blogs as we are renovating our house… slowly! Lots of the house is still in its original state – it hadn’t been decorated for two or three decades when we moved in, so you could say it looks a bit tired and dated! Woodchip seemed to be a favourite of the previous owner and if you know how hard it is to get rid of then I know you’ll feel my pain! I have quite a few good techniques now though and a combination of scraper, steamer and wallpaper dissolver solution are helping me out no end! Now the wedding has passed, I would really like to get on with the house and garden as it has been annoying me for ages that things aren’t how we want them yet. I’ve never been a very patient person so I’m trying to do the bits we can whilst we save up for the big stuff (bathroom!).
As always, there’s lots to look out for at QVC at the moment but I’d like to take a second to talk about one of my favourite subjects: gemstones. This week’s Big Deal on QVC Style is an impressive cocktail ring with a choice of stone; Amethyst, Parsiolite (green amethyst), Citrine or Blue Topaz. I have tried on the Prasiolite option here, as it is a bit more of an unusual stone and I love the very soft sagey green tone to it.
Each of the stones have radiant faceting internally, which is a great way of adding more play of light into the stone. It also looks really refined… lots of very expensive diamonds are cut with radiant facets these days. I think a stone of this size in sterling silver at our Big Deal price is fabulous value and a glamorous addition to any collection. Even the silver work framing the gemstone is stylish and adds another dimension to the ring. Whether you are a collector of genuine gemstone pieces or not, I think this would be a ring you’d love to own and definitely a showstopper when you wear it!
I should also mention, in case you ARE a collector, that this month is coloured gems month at QVC and we are really lucky to be getting in some fabulous exotic gems that are either new to us or haven’t been seen with us for a while. These include Paraiba Tourmaline (the most coveted colour of tourmaline in the world), Alexandrite, colour change Fluorite and many more besides. Make sure you browse the jewellery on our website or app and catch the gem shows when they are on. I am really excited to bring you some of these gems in future shows along with favourites such as Tanzanite.
Another Big Deal coming soon will be from Sensilight. They brought us a Today’s Special Value recently that was really popular, so it’s great that you have another chance to get an easy-to-use hair removal device at a great price.
These are so easy to use and are handheld, so if you’ve been considering spending lots of money on laser hair removal then maybe give this light technology a go first. I also like that the Sensilight devices always look stylish as well… I know it’s not the MOST important thing, but I like the minty green design of this one. Look out for this Big Deal next week.
We’ve got plenty of options for those of you who want to look tanned this summer too, including James Reed, who will be having shows this Friday on QVC Live. This will include the face and body sleep masks which not only tan, but help to firm and do a few other jobs whilst you’re sleeping too – definitely worth a try and make sure you try to catch the shows on Friday.
That’s it from me for now. Let me know what you’re all up to and what you’re loving here at QVC. What are your plans for the next bank holiday? I’m off to Cornwall with my whole family and the dogs, so I’m really looking forward to that. We’re going to the same place as we went last year and it really is lovely there… can’t wait!
Remember, you can find me on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook and I’d love to chat to you there.
See you soon and thanks for reading,
