Outside of QVC
So how are you all this week? Can you believe it’s already May? I feel like this year is whizzing faster than I can keep up. I’ve had a good week so far, packed with work and downtime too, thankfully. Last weekend wasn’t the best for weather – the wind was wild down here, so we made the most of it and headed to the cinema to see Dumbo with the kids. Oh my goodness, what a sweet film, typical Tim Burton though, so plenty of dark and edgy undertones. The CGI for Dumbo is incredible and his little face just tugs at your heart strings. The story is not in keeping with the original animation either, which is nice so you don’t know what’s going to happen, although there are lots of lovely nods it. Thandie Newton’s daughter Nico Parker is the little girl in the movie and she’s a real little star and the spit of her mother. It’s a lovely message that you get from her character too, as she desperately wants to grow up to be a scientist, like her idol Marie Curie, which is so refreshing to see in movies for my daughters. Films aren’t just about damsels being saved by a dashing prince nowadays – girls today can save themselves, thank you very much!
After that we headed to Tilda and Ivy’s favourite restaurant, Pizza Express, for the usual Margarita and Dough Balls! You can’t beat a pizza after the cinema in our opinion. We then made the most of the daylight and headed for a play in the park after that and messed about trying to get airborne shots of us jumping. Not sure they are worthy of a frame, but they made us laugh anyway!
What I’ve been wearing – The Fleur Shirt Dress from Baukjen
The dress I wore to the cinema is a new favourite. It’s by Baukjen and it’s a shirt dress, which makes it perfect for casual styling. It’s incredibly soft, as it’s 100% Viscose but it’s still machine washable, so easy care. It comes with a tie belt but I swapped a different one in to change it up a little and teamed it with a khaki army-style jacket and trainers. Well, after all, you can’t be jumping off things in the park in heels, can you? I’m a size 12 and I am wearing the size 12, so it’s not one that you need to size up or down with, not for me anyway. I have definitely found a love for dresses during the day. There was a time when I would feel like a a dress was too, well, dressy! I embrace them now though, I don’t want to live my life in the same jeans and T Shirt or ‘mum uniform’, but this still lets me mess about with the kids too. Do check it out as it’s on offer at the moment.
At QVC – Erica Davies Launch Party and first live show Tuesday 8pm!
A little while ago, I got to go to the launch event for the new homeware range from Erica Davies. Now some of you will know this name as well as your own and some of you, particularly if you aren’t into the world of Instagram, will be wondering who she is.
Erica is a fashion journalist who found the most incredible following on Instagram down to her super cool style, eclectic and colourful home and endearing character. Those who follow her account love to see how she mixes vintage with new, up-cycled and re-painted pieces, plus influences such as Moroccan Berber Style rugs and quirky one-off pieces. Her fashion and outfit choices also add to her massive appeal and so it was no surprise that a collection of her own would soon follow. I for one am so excited that that collection is at QVC!! A mix of colourful homeware pieces inspired by Erica’s own home have been available online for a little while and have been very popular. This Tuesday at 8pm, however, it’s her first live show! I will be hosting with her and I can’t wait.
I have done you a video of the launch party and interview with Erica, so you can get to know her and the range a bit better. I hope you like it!
Check out the range by clicking here. I have already bought the ‘carpet bags,’ which you will have seen in the background of a lot of my fashion pictures in my living room! I put a Yukka plant in the large one, and obviously I hid the pot inside too.
The dress I wore to the event is the Maya dress by Ghost.
First up, the Liz Earle offer is now available ahead of it’s official on-air launch this weekend. It’s the Four-Piece Refresh and Revitalise Superskin Collection, which includes –
- Limited Edition Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser in Juniper & Bergamot
- Supersize Superskin Moisturiser
- Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser in Original
- Instant Boost Skin Tonic
Your moisturiser comes in a choice of the Original or Natural Neroli formulations. This kit includes some of the most popular products from Liz Earle, so it’s a great opportunity to stock up for the summer.
Your Ultrasun TSV will be on-air on Monday and it’s ideal for this so-called ‘Spanish Plume,’ which is set to send temperatures rising. The four-piece offer comes in a choice of the Glamour Collection or the Family Collection. No prizes for guessing which one I would be going for with my fair girls!
The Glamour option includes –
- Ultrasun Glimmer SPF 20 – This leaves a lovely light sparkle on your skin.
- Ultrasun Face Fluid SPF 50
- Ultrasun Body Activator SPF 30
- Ultrasun Aftersun Booster
Family Collection Includes –
- Ultrasun Family SPF 30
- Ultrasun FaceFluid Anti Pollution SPF 50 – one of my faves
- Ultrasun Extreme 50 – what I use on my girls!
- Ultrasun Aftersun
If, like me, you will be spending a lot of time outside this summer then you may want consider both collections or stock up and get two of either. If I had to choose, I would of course go for the kit that protects my kids. Glad to see the face fluid is in both though. It’s lightweight and goes on like a milk – I love it. We go though a lot of SPF in the summer – the girls wear it to go into school and nursery as they do get a good amount of time outside, even on school days, so I always stock up when the offers are this good.
The last thing I want to mention is that on Tuesday at 6pm, I will be joining Rick Stein for Rick Stein’s Kitchen. I cannot wait!! I have been a fan of his since I was a kid when we did his clam bake on the beach in Ireland. It was an all-day event and it’s when I first heard his name. It involved digging a pit in the sand, making a fire in it surrounded by rocks, then covering it in sea weed and steaming shell fish. It was amazing and so much fun.
This Tuesday, he will be cooking up Mussels with Lemongrass, Truite Au Bleu and Whole Sole Joinville. Sounds incredible! He will of course be using all his gorgeous oven and tableware during the show, which you can look at here. So set the reminders for Tuesday at 6pm!
That’s it from me for this week, I shall be on-air for lots of the Bank Holiday, so I hope you’ll dip in throughout the weekend in between whatever you get up to. Hope you have a good one!
Lots of love, Katy xxx
As always, keep up with me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
