And breathe and resume normal activities…or not! If January finds you raring to change and improve yourselves, that’s great… me? Well I’m just craving a “plonking on my new sofa” kind of January.
So, how was it? I hope you all enjoyed Christmas, it was most certainly a whirlwind in my house, a lovely social whirlwind… with a footfall of 27 and 10 bed changes a busy old time was had by all. Thank goodness for my previously discussed vacuum fetish as my hand held Dyson and the Animal were well and truly put to use in between each set of my lovely visitors. Dan said we’ve fitted into the festive season what most normal people would do calmly over the year!
Maddie has finished the brilliant and successful Panto run as a dancer in Cinderella and loved every second, she has now decided to tell herself she’s “going to Panto” instead of “going to school” as the return to normality has given her a severe dose of the Back to School January Blues !
However there will be NO January Blues in this family as we had the most wonderful announcement at Christmas that my Mummy and Arnold have decided to marry! I wasn’t at all expecting it and it truly was the loveliest thing to hear.
Maddie is thrilled as she has been asked to be Grannie’s Bridesmaid, though I must share her comment when just prior to asking her she was told “there was something else….” she said afterwards she thought they were going to announce Grannie was pregnant! We roared! (Honestly she does know ALL about the Birds and the Bees! ) So a most fabulous exciting time ahead and with the date set for March we are in wedding mode already. It just goes to show that Love CAN be found even when you had given up all hope and age really doesn’t matter a jot.
Surprises were plentiful this Christmas as my brother Neil had decided to come home from Singapore to see us all and his beautiful children.
Neil has three children who have had to adjust to him living in Australia and now in Singapore. In the summer one of his girls had a routine operation which had devastating consequences as the surgeon, in error, cut into her bowel. She was so very very ill and battled for her life. Thankfully she has made a remarkable recovery and whilst she has the scar as a forever reminder, she is here and we are so very very lucky. Pips went on to spend her 21st birthday out in Singapore with Neil.
I think all of this made him value his family so much that he wanted to be home with all of us this Christmas (little did he know he would be flying home AGAIN for his mother’s wedding a matter of months later!) I was in on the surprise as my cheeky niece had tweeted me during a show and was waiting for me to read it out live on air… it took a lot to pull myself back to Professional Claire and not just yahoo and sob in equal measures whilst my Yankee Candles show continued! She and I were in cahoots planning his visit, as to when he would arrive and to whom he would come and then how he would actually surprise Mummy… Well we pulled it off, she had no idea that the Father Christmas in my house was in fact her son… and her face was a picture.
So our Christmas was wonderful, my eldest brother Mark and his family were due to come over on the 28th and Neil and his children along with their other halves all gate crashed (with permission of course) so we managed to capture all the children and grandchildren together.
…a perfect practice for The Wedding of the Year!!!
I must just close by sharing some extra pics of our New Years Eve fancy dress party! We were absolutely hysterical as Dan outshone us all. Here as never before, and never again, it’s… WONDER WOMAN! With… MALEFICENT!
We had Emperor Ming, my beautiful friend Linds with Flash Gordon, her usually handsome husband.
A duo of Jokers, Captain America and a rather too beautiful/ grown up Catwoman.
Oh how we laughed… the perfect start to 2016!
