It’s June (what? How? This year is speeding by!) and that means it’s Beauty Month at QVC, with everything from our beauty department on just £1.95 P&P for the entire month. More on that below, along with my top beauty picks from our incredible range. But first, how is everyone enjoying this much better weather? I haven’t actually done much other than work since we got back from our Lake District mini break, but hubby and I did go out for a nice lunch in the sun at the weekend.
As I work three out of four weekends on average it’s something we don’t often have a chance to do so we made the most of it and made it a long, leisurely one! I wore my Coco Bianco dress with the silver bead detail and some Ruby Rocks sunglasses from last year… I do love eating al fresco!
We’ve been working on the new house so much on every day off that it was really nice to have a break for a few hours. A lot of the hard work inside the house is done now (the garden will be a two-year project, there’s a LOT to do out there!) so now I’m just enjoying looking for a few new bits and pieces to fit in with our new colour schemes. And speaking of which, I needed a second set of bedding for our new navy/white/yellow bedroom and once again found it at QVC. It’s this dotty set from Cozee Home’s Supersoft summer range and I just love it, it looks so fresh!
Right – let’s talk beauty! Two upcoming Today’s Special Value offers to mention first. On Monday 10th Babyliss bring us their Sheer Volume Ionic Rotating Heated Brush. This is such a great, easy hair styler; the ionic technology smooths the cuticle so your hair looks really shiny and those annoying flyaway bits aren’t so annoying, plus it has a big 50mm brush so you can create great volume and bounce if you want to.
It’s also excellent for giving your hair a quick boost if it’s looking flat after a long day and you’re heading out in the evening. I smoothed and straightened my hair very quickly with it but Claire Sutton had quite spectacular results! She straightened her fabulous mane of waves and went on air with sleek straight locks and it looked amazing. I think she’s blogging about this too so have a peek over on her page.
Also a quick mention for the Decleor Today’s Special Value offer – it’s on-air on Wednesday 12th but you can get ahead of the game and buy it online now. It’s a three-piece Vitamin Glow Boosting Collection – three brand new products from the Green Mandarin range including the fantastic Sunkissed Reviving Cream, a day cream that also gives an instant sunkissed glow which works with all skin tones.
And now, in honour of Beauty Month, here are some of my top beauty picks from QVC! All of the presenters will be sharing their picks this month, so do have a look at all the other blogs too over the next few weeks. We were asked to pick between five and ten products each and it was SO DIFFICULT as I could probably list fifty or more! However, I’ve tried to think of the products which are not just my favourites but which have given me really significant, measurable and noticeable results. Here we go, in no particular order:
Alpha H Liquid Gold. A little miracle worker when it comes to pigmentation, skin tone and texture. I couldn’t believe the difference it made particularly to the sun damaged skin on my chest.
The Dyson Supersonic hairdryer. Yes it’s expensive, and honestly, I didn’t want to like it. I thought my £30 hair dryer was fine. Then I used the Supersonic once and that was it. The reduction in heat damage to my hair has been immense, and I can do a blow dry in half the time. Obsessed.
With my pale Irish skin, tanning isn’t really an option – I just turn into one giant freckle! So I wear Ultrasun 50+ most of the time and use fake tan. It’s Vita Liberata’s long-lasting mousse on my body and Tan Luxe drops on my face. Both are fantastic.
I wear lots of different foundations but the one I always return to is Laura Geller’s Balance-n-Brighten. So quick and easy to apply (I wear Medium), I wear it on its own when I just want light coverage or on top of liquid foundation if I want a more polished look. I buy these two at a time so I never run out.
And finally – retinol! A miracle skin smoothing and brightening ingredient that I only really discovered in the past couple of years. We have lots of great retinol products at QVC, from brands including Judith Williams, Skinsense and M. Asam and they are all brilliant. I use retinol in some form every single night and my skin has improved so much.
And now, as I think I’ve actually broken the rules and mentioned eleven products, I’d better stop! Have a lovely week and don’t forget you can also follow me on ’Twitter @jackiekabler and Instagram @officialjackiekabler.
