That’s right! They are all Welsh!
Hi everyone! Long time no blog… I’m afraid I get so caught up in all the instant social media that my poor blog gets a bit neglected along the way. Never mind, little bloggy blog, I’m here now so let us begin…
Tranquil Tenby. What a beautiful, peaceful seaside town this is. I had the pleasure of staying there for a few days earlier this month. It was magical. Tenby is a pretty, walled town with a harbour decoratively adorned by pastel-coloured houses.
I stayed in a little flat overlooking the North beach. There is also a South beach. The North beach had sand as soft as silk! Two of my favourite aspects of nature are the sea and the sky. Here, I had it all!
The weather was incredible on the first couple of days. Sunny and warm. In fact, the weather was perfect even in the rain as it coupled with the sun to produce the most mesmerising rainbows. Sadly, although iPhones are fantastic at taking photos, I don’t think it’s possible to recreate, in a photograph, the true beauty of seeing a rainbow first hand.
I adore Wales so spending time here walking on the beach, eating the best fish and chips I’ve ever had (Park Road if you ever get the chance) and indulging in ice cream really helped to recharge my batteries. I can’t wait to go back! Lucky you if you live near here. I’m more than a tad envious.
When I spend time in Wales I am always inspired to think of new designs with award winning Welsh jewellery brand, Clogau. I don’t want to give anything away about the next design I’m working on with them but we are in meetings to discuss the next collection. I love working with them so much, they create the most beautiful treasures and I’m unspeakably proud that the feeling is mutual. I came across this photo from a few years back with MD, Ben Roberts, and head designer, Sam Roberts, from my first visit to Clogau HQ to discuss working on designs together. Watch this space for new pieces… all in very embryonic stages at the moment but I’ll keep you informed.
Now let’s talk about that lovely lad from Merthyr Tydfil, the ever glamorous Mr Julien Macdonald OBE. I was utterly thrilled to receive an invitation to attend his London Fashion Week catwalk show. I’d never attended a LFW runway show before and had no idea what to expect. There were wall to wall celebrity fans including QVC darlings Amanda Holden and Lisa Snowdon (who have their own homeware and jewellery collections, respectively).
Speaking of walls, there was an entire wall of photographers flashing away as the models gracefully, and powerfully, strutted their stuff. Julien’s collection was utterly stunning! I’ve always loved his clean lines and Art Deco influenced designs. He didn’t disappoint with his signature JM style. There were some elegant, diaphanous creations which seemed to float their way down the catwalk by themselves, so chic and dreamy. I think I must’ve had my jaw on the floor for the entire show. A captivating sensors all feast! The music, the models, the clothing, the atmosphere, the flashbulbs but, most of all, that trademark Julien sparkle!
Jill Franks and I arranged to meet up and enjoy it all together. Jill looked gorgeous all in black with her super shiny hair completing the look as a beautiful blonde accessory. I very rarely wear all black so (apart from some colourful flowers on my black skirt) I made a statement with my brightly-coloured Lulu Guinness ‘Jenny’ handbag! I think Jenny rather upstaged me! Ha ha!
Jill was meeting up with her husband, Larry, after the show as they were meeting friends for dinner. They kindly dropped me at the tube station and, as it was pouring with rain, Jill gave me another Lulu accoutrement, her LG umbrella! What a sweet couple they are. It was great to spend some time with Jill as we presenters are like ships that pass in the night. We don’t often have the opportunity to be in the same place at the same time unless it’s presenting a show!
Jill has a show coming up with Julien at 6pm on October 6th so you can look forward to more dazzling elegance to brighten these cool autumnal days, maybe even do some early Christmas shopping? I know, I know, it may feel too early for that… ok, how about a special treat just for you, then? Yes, that sits well with me.
Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. I look forward to being back on your telly box very soon. In the meantime, take care.
Love Catherine xxx
