In celebration of the reduced £1.95 P&P on all beauty products for the whole of June, we Presenters were asked to list our favourite ten beauty products on our blogs. No problem, I thought, until I realised that I have many more than ten!
So, I’m going to be a bit naughty and do ten ‘face’ products this week and ten ‘hair, body and nails’ products next week. Do you think I could get away with doing ten favourite make-up products the week after? Or is that pushing it?
I’ll come on to that shortly, but I thought I would start this week’s blog with a blast from the past. While flicking through Twitter this week (I’m JuliaRobertsTV if you’d like to follow me) I noticed a tweet from Cheryl Baker, of Bucks Fizz fame, mentioning me. It was in connection with the 1980 Song for Europe group, The Main Event, which I was involved in. Someone had spotted a compilation video of Song for Europe shows on YouTube which included us.
Bless her, in her tweet she referred to me as the ‘queen’ of QVC – that has a nice ring to it! I’ve known Cheryl for almost forty years, and in my early presenting career at a cable television channel in Croydon (where Debs Flint and I first met) she came onto my show as a guest, despite it being her birthday… she’s definitely one of the ‘good un’s’ in showbiz.
This screen shot above shows a young Cheryl and Terry, the lead singer, with me lurking in the background in the green outfit. I made that jumpsuit and the one for the other backing singer, Josie. For anyone who is remotely interested, we were placed last with our song, ‘Gonna Do My Best to Please You’ so obviously we didn’t please many people.
A lot of my week has been spent working on the structural edits for book 2 in the DCI Rachel Hart series, but I gave myself a day off on Saturday to go over to my daughter Sophie’s for a barbecue. It was a beautiful sunny day and I really enjoyed ‘shooting some hoops’ in their back garden, although I must admit to being pretty useless despite having played netball in my school days. We stayed to watch the Champions League Final – congratulations to Liverpool… half of our call centre and warehouse in Knowsley will be delighted with the result… the blue half maybe not so.
Talking of football, do you recognise the young man front right in this old photo? Yes, it’s Gareth Southgate when he was a youth team player at Crystal Palace. Bad luck to England in last night’s game – if only the Lingard goal hadn’t been a centimetre offside.
So, the time has come for my beauty must-haves of the moment – my favourites do change from time to time but these are the current Top Ten:
- Elemis White Flowers Eye Make Up Remover
- Elemis Pro Definition Facial Oil
- Elemis Cleansing Micellar Water
- Elemis Pro-Collagen Overnight Matrix
- Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic
- Liz Earle Gentle Exfoliator
- L’Occitane Immortelle Divine Cream
- Ultrasun Sun Protection Face Tan Activator SPF 30
- Decleor Hydra Floral Everfresh Eye Gel
- Revitalash RevitaBrow – I’m going to start Revitalash next week
Speaking of Ultrasun, next week’s Big Deal on the QVC Beauty Channel is the Ultrasun Sun Protection 4 Piece Anti-Pigmentation Collection (234641) – it includes a supersize of the Anti Pigmentation Face SPF 50+ and also the Hand SPF 30, Eye Protection SPF 30, and Lip Protection SPF 30 priced at £41.98 and also with only £1.95 P&P.
And while on the subject of £1.95 P&P, everything on-air over our two-day fashion event is also at the reduced P&P rate. I am on-air with Lola Rose (the brand of Today’s Special Value) at 3pm, then Fashion on Friday with Jolie Moi at 5pm and the follow on show on the Style channel with Glen Campbell.
We have lots of new items in that show but at the same time we are also launching Monsoon on the main channel with Alex. I wore a couple of the dresses on air yesterday. The Tea Dress has no stretch, so I ordered a size 14, but the jersey dress I ordered in the small and it’s a good fit.
Tomorrow’s TSV is a nice, simple WynneLayers dress with side splits. It’s in the viscose jersey so perfect for warmer summer days. I’m not actually on air with it but I do have two Butler & Wilson shows tomorrow. B&W World at 4pm followed by Butler & Wilson jewellery at 5pm – I hope you can join me for both. Thanks so much to those of you who have sent in birthday cards – very kind of you.
