Teddy bears and celebrations

Another week and we’re already into April! How did that happen? It’s been another busy one for me, still trying to get the new house sorted out. We don’t have working heating yet but hopefully the new boiler and some radiators will be with us very soon, and then we can get on with the decorating. Luckily it’s in pretty good shape décor wise and all pretty neutral but I want to add some colour, so a few rooms are getting a touch of paint and wallpaper. I’ve found some great wallpapers actually – I’ll show you some photos when they’re on the walls!

We made time for a little celebration last week though – my lovely niece Ellen turned 26 so we headed out for a very nice dinner. Her mum – my late sister Deborah – would be so very, very proud of her, and of her two sisters. These occasions are always tinged with sadness, aren’t they, when someone so important is missing? But how lucky we are to be alive and well and able to celebrate together. “Life is short, eat the cake” – I saw that in a cafe window recently. And we did eat the cake, rather a lot of it – yum!

Staying with the cake theme, I did rather wonder if I’d stumbled upon a teddy bear’s picnic when I was out on one of my latest runs, and came across this little trio sitting cosily on a bench next to the canal! How random! One of them was wearing a Canal & River Trust luminous jacket however, so I suspect one of the lock-keepers may have been responsible. I do love the weird and wonderful things I see when I run off road.

Right, my usual quick look at some QVC picks for the coming days. On Tuesday this week we’ll have a Today’s Special Value offer from Kim & Co. It’s a cropped, gaucho style jumpsuit (Kim does jumpsuits SO well!) and will be available in a choice of four prints (the stripe is my favourite) and two solid colours. This one has a lovely casual feel with a simple v-neck, short sleeves and front pockets. A great alternative to a dress for spring/summer and so comfortable to wear.

On Wednesday, Cozee Home is back with a Today’s Special Value offer, but before you say “Cozee Home? Isn’t that really warm, fleece bedding, for the winter?”, hang on – this is a four piece bedding set from their Supersoft range. It’s a lightweight microfibre fabric, NOT fleece, so perfect for right now. It’s still really soft, luxurious and silky on the skin – it’s brushed, so has that rose petal feel – but it’s light enough to take you through spring and summer. It’s also easy care, breathable and moisture wicking and dries really quickly when washed. This set is in a magnolia floral print in a choice of neutrals (grey and taupe) or pastels (blue and light mauve). If you love the winter version of Cozee Home as much as I do, I hope you’re going to love this too.

It’s my birthday in April and my birthstone is diamond, but I’m a big fan of Diamonique (QVC’s range of simulated diamonds) too, so I also have to show you the Diamonique Design of the Month. It’s a beautiful simulated peach sapphire ring, just for a change, in rhodium plated sterling silver. The colour is based on the Pantone colour of the year ‘living coral’- a light shade perfect for your summer jewellery collection. This lovely ring will be on-air throughout April, including on Diamonique Day on Thursday the 11th.

And that’s it for this week! See you soon.
