Sun, sand & chocolate cake!!!

On holidayHello!!

How are you? Really hope you are well and had a good couple of weeks. Apologies for not blogging for a couple of weeks, things have been hectic and busy as always and I was also away for 8 days and this time I tried to limit my time on the computer!!

So, this blog I am focusing on my holiday, oh what joy!! I was lucky enough to go to Gran Canaria for a week and stay at the Sheraton Salobre hotel. The hotel was in the mountains and a 15 minute shuttle bus journey to the beach, and I must admit it was lovely to stay somewhere quieter, felt like a really peaceful haven. Here is a little video of the beautiful sunrise:

The hotel was great; good food, friendly staff and lots of different areas to swim and sunbathe in, just wish I had spent 2 weeks there instead of 1!!

Other than that it was such a week of chilling out, walking, going for dinner, sometimes in hotel and sometimes by the beach, and just generally soaking up the sunshine of which there was a fair amount. We met some great people too and had some real laughs, especially with a lady called Annette who was such a joy to be with and it turns out she was friends with Amica and Goody, the QVC models!! Small world isn't it?!

Enjoying the sun in Gran Canaria Fun with friends

I also got to try out an upcoming TSV from Heys luggage, as you can see in the photos it looked stylish and was the perfect size for a week away, and it was such a doddle to wheel around airport and the hotel. I was a bit like a Hey commercial because I also had the little Heys messenger bag that I took on the plane that had my Euros, passport and tickets etc in it, and of course the all important digital luggage scales ensuring no excess baggage charges!!

I also prepped my skin using Decleor Arromessence Solaire before I went and used it whilst I was there as well as protecting my skin with Ultrasun 30 and, I have to say my skin feels so healthy and glowing. A perfect break to the winter sun!!

Craig and his chocolate cake

Since coming back I have been part of really busy days at QVC including the Acer tablet and Kelly Hoppen TSVs. Just last night I was trying out the upcoming KitchenAid TSV for this weekend (31st March) and, using the 'Great British Bake-off' book, made a chocolate & hazelnut cake to enjoy with my family and friends over the weekend, you can see it in the photo and believe me, it's delicious!!

So, as always, it's time for my 3 THINGS:

HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK: this has to be lying in the sun on the beautiful Balinese bed on the terrace of the Sheraton hotel, so calm and beautifully warm. We spent 2 mornings there just gazing up at the blue sky and feeling all was right with the world. Aahhhhh….

FAVOURITE PRODUCT OF THE WEEK: I know this is cheating but can I have two this week, please?! Has to be Decleor Aromessence Solaire face serum to protect and prepare skin for tanning AND Ultrasun 30 (face and body) to protect skin whilst developing a lovely tan. (Ooops, just realised as it was 2 Ultrasun products, that's actually 3, am I in trouble?!)

HAPPY THOUGHT OF THE WEEK: I was in a very near miss accident yesterday, 2 seconds earlier and I think it would have been fatal and I am not saying that for dramatic purposes, it is the truth. I thanked my Guardian Angel and it made me realise how precious and fragile life is. Reason this is my happy thought is because it reminded me that actually we do need to live each day as well as we can and appreciate as much as we can.

As always, what's yours??

Remember I reply to ALL comments…

Much love,

Craig xxx

    Oh Mr Craig
Sounds like you had a wonderful holibobs!!! I am longing for this Easter weekend to have some much needed rest from the office!!
My boss has just come back from her SECOND holiday in as many weeks (you will recall it was one of my happy thoughts her last holiday ;-)!!!! I have only had 1 day off so far this year!!
hoping to get out in the garden at some point this weekend as there is plenty to do – just hopefully without the freezing cold winds we have been having – HORRIBLE!
Highlight of the Week: My boss bringing me back a beautiful handbag from her trip to Rome to celebrate our 7th anniversary of working together!
Product: Have to say (non QVC) but my Kenwood Chef – started making bread and cakes & hot cross buns and plan to move on to bigger and better baking things!!!
Thought: My friend is halfway through her chemotherapy and still looking good!!
    Take care lovely craig xxxxxxx

    Hi Craig
Firstly I hope your back is getting better, you can’t take a pain free body for granted, you’re right.
I loved reading about your holibobs. It has made me book mine and I’m already on countdown … It’s not until June but heay!
    Anyway, my 3 things…
    1. Highlight of the week
Definitely the long Easter break. We have been lucky to have blue skies here in Cheshire which, although cold, has made me feel so positive and full of energy. The light evenings help too. It has been great to enjoy the sunshine with friends and also to get out with my new camera taking some lovely spring pics. Aren’t daffs just the happiest flowers? :)))
    2. Favourite product of the week
Today’s Ultrasun TSV. I used this for the first time last year. I was amazed at the lovely, long lasting tan I got using it. My legs even went brown … And stayed brown for ages … Unheard of!! Glimmer 20 was my new best friend. Safe tanning for me all the way, it’s scary to think what I thought was sensible tanning in my teens/20’s … Bergasol factor 4 oil … Thought I was being good!!!
    3. Happy thought of the week
Just that spring is FINALLY arriving yippee. I stood on my patio with a cuppa early yesterday morning listening to the birds and smelling the dewy grass .. It made me feeeeeeeeeel good! 🙂
    Have a good week Craigy
    Sending love
    Jill xxx

Hi Craig, Looks like you had a well deserved break in the sunshine. We may have had sunshine over the Easter Hols, but boy was it cold. I can’t wait to get in my garden and plant all the flowers and bulbs i have purchased from Richard Jackson. Have a good week and look forward to your next blog. Love Jackie xxx

Hi Craig, love reading your blog, always find reading it and seeing your happy smiley face so UPLIFTING !! Your holiday looked fab, you always seem to be on the go and it is so important to recharge the old batteries now and then isn’t it!? Unfortunately we have had to cut back this year financially so a holiday is out of the question this year, but we are hoping to have days away or perhaps a weekend with the family. I am so glad that you are safe, what a lucky escape from that accident Craig. You are right to thank your guardian angel, there must have been someone looking after you from beyond ! Life is so precious, and you never know what it will throw at you, in your case Craig, one minute you are escaping near death and the next you are making a truly scrumptious looking chocolate cake.!! I love the fact you do it all with a lovely smile on your face. Love your three things,….. heres mine for this week.
Having the family up for Easter dinner, my mum, daughter, grandchildren, son and daughters and their partners for a lovely day. I made a mexican feast and the kids had so much fun decorating cupcakes. We rounded off the day playing charades etc , and karoke singsongs. The perfect ending would have been some of your choccy cake Craig, I knew I should have invited you !! lol
Hurrah, my large Yankee set on auto del. have just arrived ! Can’t decide if I love wakiki melon or the coconut the best, both are
    Happy Thought:
You can overcome anything in life with a smile on your face ! Just remember the three F,s…… family , friends and fun and you won’t go far wrong !
Hope you have a GREAT week, Craig, keep smiling (and making us smile) like you always do ! Lots of love Helen xxx

lovely to hear from you 😉
i know, that sunrise is gorgeous isn’t it? It feels like months ago now but I am not going to complain as I am a lucky boy and am going to France and Croatia next month. I am not blessed to have children but at the same time it gives me a lot of freedom to do these trips.
How are you keeping my love?

Yes, I am with you on Ultrasun, its amazing stuff isnt it, haha, I know what you mean about the old style sun oil we used in our teens, haha, I had friends who used to use baby oil, I was never quite that bad!!

thanks for writing to me again, always great to hear from you. You made me laugh in the observation you made – one minute escaping death and the next making chocolate cake” haha, so true!!
Sad to hear you wont be going away but yes if you can do some days out that can be such a tonic, I love days out in the summer (when we get it), sometimes just a simple picnic and a bottle of cheap fizz on a blanket in the park can be all we need to life our spirits.
Thanks for your 3 things – love the sound of your Easter and dying to know what is in a “Mexican Feast”?? I am think fajitias, nachos and burritos?? I love Mexican food, in London we have a place called Wahacha, its scrummy!
I love your 3 F’s……simple and true, you are very wise 🙂
