Summer is Finally Here!

Finally the sun is shining… and I’m trying not to do that very British thing where I now moan that it’s too hot after moaning that there’s been no sun! Although it is very hot! LOL!

With the heat comes sandals. They might be the toe post style, like these gorgeous ones from Vionic. I love every colour option in these, and being Vionic they have Foot Motion Technology to help realign your feet while you’re wearing them. They are ridiculously comfortable and so stylish with the leather straps.

Or perhaps you’re wearing wedges, like these beautiful Espadrille Mules from Ravel, or maybe sliders like these from Sketchers with that amazing memory foam technology… the toes and feet are on show!

So it’s brilliant that our beauty Big Deal this week is from Footlogix. It’s this brilliant Foam Callous softener and foot file. The products created by this brand are used by professionals. Their range is easy to use but really deliver great, effective results.

It’s also compact enough that you can actually pop this in your suitcase and take it on holiday with you. I really find that I get a build up of hard skin on the back of my heels from wearing my flip flops, so I love products like this to get them feeling soft and looking fab again. It’s so easy to use. You simply spray the callus softener onto the areas where you have build up, around the toes, back of the heel and balls of the feet. Leave it for 3-5 minutes so it’s tacky, then use the stainless steel foot file to rub off the hard skin. If you need to, you can repeat, and you don’t need to wash this off – just use a towel to wipe away any debris. In fact, by leaving the spray on, it works to keep softening and hydrating the skin.

Of course, the other thing that we have to get out when it gets hot is our body! Like most women, I dread this. It’s stupid. I certainly don’t judge another woman’s body, and I love how women are a lot more accepting now that we are not all a size 8 with abs and no cellulite – in fact, quite the opposite. But I would like to be fitter, so I can keep up with the kids and climb a couple of flights of stairs without feeling like my legs are on fire! Since the kids started school, my days are more sedentary. When they were small I used to go the gym and put them in the crèche for an hour, so my motivation was respite.. now that I drive to the supermarket, or drive to work, I’m definitely lacking that cardio.

So when I was asked to try Jessica Wright’s fitness DVDs, I thought why not! And I really like it!

She gives you 7 weeks to make a difference, which I love, because anything that promises results in only a few days is likely not to work. There are also three phases and everything is laid out for you on a poster, so you can see exactly what you need to do. Each work out is 30 mins, but to be honest, each week you’ll be able to do the workouts a bit quicker, as you’ll know what the exercises are.

I loved that there was no shouting and no loud, pumping music – you go at a very relaxed pace and the girls give you lots of positive motivation throughout. You get the full kit with a ball, resistance bands and all the DVDs. The only thing you will need is a mat, like a yoga mat type thing, although if you have carpet you’ll be OK. The best part about buying it from QVC is that this kit comes with an exclusive bonus ‘Progressions’ DVD that you can’t get anywhere else!

This is me doing the first DVD. Excuse the reshuffling of the camera for the best angle, and any mess… our DVD player is in the spare room! I was definitely sweaty at the end!

Even though you’re doing this at home, you’ll still need to wear trainers to support your foot and ankle. I’ve just started this, so I look forward to letting you know how I get on as the weeks progress.

In my last blog, I mentioned that our neighbour’s tree was taken down. Well this week I called in my step dad and brother and his girlfriend… and we chopped up the wood and filled our wood store to the brim!

We will not need to buy any wood this winter, that’s for sure! They did an amazing job and I even had a go. You can just make out the crazed look in my eye at being let loose with a chainsaw!

Scott’s dad Richard came to visit us and watched Izzy in her end of year gymnastics competition. She gets her medal in a couple of weeks, but in the meantime got a choc, which she shared with Josh, who just moaned that he wanted his own one – as you can imagine it was a fun car journey home.

We are literally on count down now to the summer hols. They break up on the 20th and then this little man will be starting reception in September! They’re growing so quickly now.

The Big Deals this week are this Kim & Co tunic and this Northern Nights Six Piece Collection.

Check out this week’s Style Look below too, which features these fabulously flattering Susan Graver cropped trousers. They’re just the thing to keep you looking smart in this hot weather!

Thanks for reading my blog and stay safe in the sunshine.
Lots of love,
Alex xx

Why have you retweeted tweets with the F Word in them? I think it is offensive and they should be removed.
