It’s September already! August seems to have come and gone in a whirlwind. In fact most of the month I was not in the UK. I have been fortunate enough to have been doing a spot of work in Switzerland which is such a beautiful place. I stayed beside Lake Geneva and felt like I was part of ‘The Sound of Music’, it really is that picture book pretty. I was also very lucky to take two little holidays, one was in Crete and the other was a family holiday to visit my mum and step dad who live in France.
I had never been to Crete before and absolutely fell in love with the island. We started our trip about an hour from Heraklion right up in the mountains. The air was clean, the views were vast and you could see for miles and miles. The local people were also so friendly, however we realised after day two that we had some uninvited guests in our room when we discovered the place had bed bugs!!! Shock and more shock horror! So we scarpered and found a fantastic bed bug free place in Georgiopolis that we spent the remainder of the trip staying at. In between sunbathing we hired bikes and cycled for miles in 35 degree heat and came across so many herds of goats. Which reminded me of my own goats – Katy and Milly – that I had growing up. I think one of the biggest highlights for me was swimming on horse back in the sea! It was such a magical experience. My horse was called Rocky and in all honesty he wasn’t really a sea horse and tried to roll in the sea a number of times but the experience was still wonderful. This was my view from Rocky at 6am!
Whilst out there my boyfriend Elliot took some fashion shots for my blog. We had lots of fun taking these shots to show you.
In this one I am wearing one of my summer favourites from C. Wonder, a duster in peach. I love the lightness of fabric and the romantic delicate floral print. It is such a flattering colour on all skin tones. I have teamed it up with a playsuit of my own and my gold Vionic trainers (I literally wear these everywhere!) You can also turn this into a lovely, subtle evening look – perhaps wear over long white palazzo trousers. Have a look at the ranges from MarlaWynne and Coco Bianco. In fact I have just ordered these from Coco Bianco. I adore the bold print that is made up of printed floral designs mixed with a peacock feather design. It nods to autumn with the berry and blue tones yet still has the freshness of an Indian summer (haven’t they said that’s coming?)
In the next shot I wanted to see how high I could jump and as you can see by my expression I am taking the challenge very seriously! Haha I am wearing this wonderful dress in the pop of green from Coco Bianco. The gold zipper and A-line look give it a Sixties feel. To me it also has a sporty edge to it so I matched it again with my trusty Gold Vionic trainers and tartan Kipling bag which I am never without!
Elliot and I love the sun and love to be outside as much as possible but at 35 deg heat one needs to be very well protected from the sun. Everyday we wore SPF50 Ultrasun Anti Pigmentation on our faces and Body Glimmer SPF20. I had also used the Ultrasun tan optimiser and I can say without a doubt we achieved the best tan without burning that we have ever had. This was our sun protection regime everyday.
I am going to finish this up with one last shot of me and Rocky just before we went for a swim.
