Summer at last

Sophie and JuliaWhat lovely weather we've had in the south east over the last few days. I hope it has been nice where you are too as a bit of sunshine and blue skies really does lift the spirit. How lovely to be able to sit in the garden and relax, although there was a bit of a nip in the air when the sun went behind a cloud.

My daughter Sophie came over last weekend with her friend Sarah and their respective cats. Both the cats wore a harness and lead so that they didn't wander off in the garden. Oskar is quite used to his now but it was a first for 'Lexi', as was walking on grass which was quite comical to see.

Sophie and her vestSophie also brought over her Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research vest for me to 'alter' as even the small size was way too big for her…mild panic ensued as I tried to remember where I had put my sewing machine after the last house move a year ago. Fortunately I found it and the vest is now a much better fit for her Tough Mudder challenge tomorrow. You can still sponsor her if you would like.

She collected the vest on Wednesday evening when we also took the opportunity to remove our Red Carpet Manicure together. If you haven't tried RCM yet I can certainly say it is worth the effort as it lasts for a couple of weeks and it has really helped my nails grow underneath the gel coat. I think it is on air this weekend, or you could have a look on the website and maybe take advantage of the thirty-day money back guarantee to try it out.

Patrick Hoy and ElviraTalking of manicures, I decided to have my nails filed and my cuticles pampered while I was at Aveda yesterday waiting for my colour to process. I only have them done occasionally but I always try to get Elvira as she has done them since before the Aveda Concept salon in High Holborn opened, which I think is about ten years ago.

Imagine my surprise when I received a tweet from Patrick Hoy, Quacker Factory, who I am working with at 5pm today which had a picture of him with Elvira at Aveda a couple of hours after I had been in there…small world!

Also I'm very excited that my book 'One Hundred Lengths of the Pool' is now available on Amazon as an ebook, for those of you who have been asking. For those that prefer to turn paper pages we still have a small quantity of the signed hardback version available here at QVC…

Must dash, don't want to be late for my 'date' with Patrick Hoy!

Have a great weekend.

Love, Julia xx

    Hi Julia,
First of all I have to start by answering the question you asked me in the reply to your last blog, yes I got the Diamonique day TSV (in green and the matching pendant too) and its gorgeous, A new firm favourite, i have actually received a few comments about it already (one friend asked if I’d won the lottery or met a millionaire – such wishful thinking)… Although they weren’t the only purchases I made that day, i also got a few from the specials show with Jilly, can’t wait for those to arrive in august, as well as a watch (item 605352 – in white), which blew me away with how expensive it looks, very happy customer!
I’ve been thinking about trying RCM, but am worried about being “unfaithful” to my trusted OPI, they’ve got me from having awful bitten nails to nails that all my colleagues are envious of (most thought they were fake at first)… so am still on the fence at the moment.
Please Julia, can you beg QVC to bring Aveda back? I’m sure if you stamp your feet hard enough they’ll listen, you are after all QVC’s Queen. I use it daily (shampure mostly, but occasionally the rosemary/mint for a mix up) and my son adores the aveda mens pure performance, and hasn’t used anything else since he was 15 (don’t i regret putting a bottle of that in his christmas stocking that year)…
Whilst we’re on the topic of bringing things to QVC, can I also make a request for QVC to bring the new Butler and Wilson Cross ring? I saw it advertised in a magazine, but it doesn’t seem to be on QVC’s website just yet… it would match the necklace I already have perfectly.
Oh I seem to have gotten carried away with writing this week, I won’t keep you any longer, just please wish luck to Sophie on her run.
    Best wishes,

Happy Birthday Julia. I’m also a massive fan of Aveda (something else I copied from you!). QVC should stock it. I hope you’re having a lovely day. I’m made up with cold right now. Typical, such a long wet winter and not so much of a sniffle. Two weeks of lovely weather and I come down with a cold! xx

    Hi SJ
Sounds like you enjoyed Diamonique Day and so pleased you are happy with your ’emerald’ TSV ring.
I think if you are happy with your nails using OPI maybe you should stick with it, but the beauty of RCM is that you can use other colours over the top and change them without damaging it so you could still be ‘faithful’ to the colour range!
I have asked a few times about having Aveda back at QVC ……all I can say is that I don’t think it’s for want of trying.
I have a show with Somon next Thursday so I will try and re,ember to ask him about the cross ring for you.
Sophie completed the assault course – she had the bruises to prove it the next day ….I’m a very proud ‘muddier’!
    Speak soon

    Hi Martin
I thought you would like it …. Sophie completed the Tough Mudder course and had a go at all the obstacles. She was sore but happy the next day and raised her target for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research

    Hi Marion
I had a really lovely birthday thanks which I shall about in more detail in my blog.
As I said to SJ, I have asked the question about Aveda coming back to QVC but no success yet.
I have had the sniffles etc. for several weeks now – I was wondering if it was hay fever but maybe it is a cold. Hope yours gets better soon.
Not long to wait for the Elemis anniversary shows
    Julia x
