Stripes, jazz and Star Wars!

Hello,

What a lovely day it is as I write this: warm sunshine, a gentle breeze – perfect May weather! Hope it’s nice where you are? Lots of bits to whizz through this week. First, we are still decorating and sorting at home – I’d forgotten how long it takes to get organised when you move house, as it’s been a while! We finally got round to decorating our bedroom last week, and after years with a grey/white colour scheme, this time we’ve gone for navy and white with a dash of bright yellow!

I found a fabulous yellow velvet pouffe and some velvet cushions for very little money in one of those big discount stores, wallpapered one wall in a navy pinstripe wallpaper and then found a fab stripy bedding set from Silentnight right here at QVC . I’m really pleased with the result. It’s a small bedroom but it feels really fresh and cheerful now.

I’ve been running again too (surprise surprise! Sorry, I’m SO boring!)  as my “1,000 miles in 2019 challenge” continues. Just a week after my marathon (I told you about that in my last blog) I spent the Bank Holiday weekend running two half marathons, one on the Saturday and one on the Sunday. It happened to be a two-day Star Wars themed running event in Wokingham (I’ve never seen a Star Wars film… ssssh! They didn’t ask!) and even though I’m not a fan of the films the medals were fabulous! I was pretty tired on the second day and being honest, really didn’t want to run again but when I got going I was fine, thank goodness. Lots more races in the diary through the summer… the sunshine and longer days definitely help!

Half Marathon and medals

I took the day off after half marathon number two and we went to the Cheltenham jazz festival. We were lucky enough to get tickets to see both Level 42 and Katie Melua on the same day, both of whom were AMAZING. And I realised that my outfit choice for the day meant I was pretty much head to toe in QVC fashion, other than my handbag! I wore my buddy Ruth Langsford’s straight leg jeans and also her navy blazer with my Luisa Conti t-shirt and some Bronx shoes I got last year. You can take the girl out of QVC etc!

Finally my QVC pick for this week. I’ve become slightly obsessed with Doll 10’s Hydralux foundation – just fantastic matte coverage and no need to even use powder over it. It’s currently available in a supersize with no P&P; I have both the light and the light medium shades and have been using both depending on whether I have self-tanned or not! I really recommend this foundation, it’s brilliant.

Hi Kathy, yes I loved grey for a while, had it in the lounge too, and I still have a bit around the new house but in much lighter shades, I’m liking brighter colours at the moment! Will post more pictures as the decorating continues!
