Outside of QVC
The Christmas ads are on the telly, the booking of Christmas parties has started. Set menus to choose from, School Xmas Fete to get ready for, Kids Christmas cards to order complete with their own drawings, it’s rattling towards us isn’t it?! I think I need to get a wriggle on and start my Christmas shopping. I’ve already bought a set of six jumbo Giftmate bags for the kids presents as I’m always a bit last minute with the wrapping and kids toys are always really awkward shapes so these will be perfect.
While I get through my list of admin though I want to make sure we have lots of nice things to do too. At this time of year I love nothing more than fresh blustery beach walks and roast dinners. I don’t really need anything else, it’s my favourite weekend activity and that’s how we spent this past weekend. My mum came down to visit and we headed to Sandbanks to catch the last of the daylight and give the kids a good run outside to tire them out for bedtime.
We are very lucky to live where we do, I have my moments of wanting to be nearer London, particularly while the roadworks are adding an hour to my journey home from work, but it’s afternoons like this that just can’t be beaten. All traffic jams are forgotten the moment we are at the beach. I need the open space and the fresh air and the fun my kids have is priceless.
It’s always nice to have my mum down and she also loves a good beach walk. I was very happy to see she was representing QVC too as she has just bought a fab pair of Skechers from us. She chose the Street Leather Glitter Toe Cap Lace Up Trainer in black. It’s so funny that she spotted these ones because when I had them on air recently I remember thinking that she would love them. She has been after more shoes that are really comfy but have a bit of glitz to them too so she can wear them to parties. She was very happy to model them for me for some pics for the blog too!
I wore my Geox Nhenbus Slip on Trainers in Gold which are incredibly comfortable and also pretty funky in the metallic finish. I teamed it with my Rino & Pelle faux Leather Jacket which I have been wearing a lot of lately. It has also been time to bring out my gorgeous In Cashmere shawl. We still have some of the colours left in stock and I can’t recommend it enough. I have lived in it last winter and this autumn/winter also. I know cashmere shawls are a bit of an investment but the pleasure it brings every time you wear it is worth every penny. It’s the perfect gift for someone you love too. There is a grey and a mauve which I would love to own.
I have a few things to tell you about this week, things that I have been using non-stop so had to recommend. Firstly the 20” Drawstring Cosmetic Bag, I have it in the Blue Purple. This is one of those things that I didn’t realise how much I would love until I started using it. It’s so simple, a drawstring bag that opens up completely flat so that you can see everything that you have in there. No more emptying everything out of my make-up bag to find that one thing that’s at the bottom.
When I’m done I just pull the drawstrings and that’s me done. It doesn’t have to be for make-up of course you can put whatever you want in it but make-up is a really good use for it. There is also a pocket inside for smaller items that you want to keep extra safe. This is a really good present idea for the make-up lovers out there.
I also wanted to mention some new lipsticks that I have discovered. If you are a regular reader of my blogs you will know how much I like a strong lip colour so I’m always looking for new ones. When searching for lipsticks on our site I came across a brand I hadn’t heard of before. It’s called Antipodes and they have a fab range of make-up and skincare that uses premium products and ingredients from New Zealand rainforests.
The lipsticks are as they say on the tube, ‘so healthy you could almost eat me’. I know a lot of us are getting more interested in the ingredients that go into our lipsticks as it’s so easy to lick it off so I was really pleased to find a brand that avoids any nasties. I have two colours, a fab red called Forest Berry Red and a more vibrant fun orange called Piha Beach Tangerine. I have been wearing them in and out of QVC and I’ve been asked a number of times what I am wearing, so here they are.
That’s it from me this week, I’m afraid I don’t have a recipe for you as I have been trying out a new meal plan service that we will be bringing you in the new year so I haven’t had to cook. I have also lost a few pounds too so it’s been great so far. I shall share more in January on that one and make sure to bring you a new recipe next week.
Lots of Love
