I hope you’re all well and happy this week. I had a delightful break away with my mum for a few days. We took ourselves off to Hayling Island. Far from tropical but we had a wonderful time and didn’t let the soggy weather stop us. Neither of us had ever been to Warner Holiday Village before but we decided it would be worth a go as you didn’t really need to leave the site once you arrive. This is particularly important as my mum is now 84 and, although her mind is as sharp as ever, her body sometimes slows her down. We chose well! We had everything we needed right there.
Mum surprised me with a Cath Kidston bag which she had purchased from QVC. It was a Today’s Special Value last week and she bought the yellow for her and the red for me. She was telling me all about the features which made me smile as I had presented it. I was thrilled as I had dithered over getting one and didn’t in the end. Thanks to my thoughtful mum I now have one in the colour I’d have chosen. We must be a little telepathic! Here they are nestled together on my mum’s walker.
There were many activities to choose from at the holiday village. Of course I love to dance so when I saw I could learn the merengue and the cha cha I jumped at the chance… or rather I sashayed. Mum came along and did the moves from a seated position which she really enjoyed. She loves quizzes and they had quite a few of those on during our stay. Mum tends to win at games like Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble so any opportunity and she’s up for it.
On one of the days mum felt like a nap so whilst she rested I decided to try my hand at archery. I’ve discovered I’m not a natural… maybe with some practice.
After archery I had a go at rifle shooting! Just little targets and rubber ducks I hasten to add! Well, there are plenty of things I can’t claim to be much good at but it appears shooting a rifle isn’t one! There were about 10 of us in the group for this activity and I got the top score! I hit the bullseye 3 times and got 58 points out of 60. I was gobsmacked and probably a little happier than I ought to have been for a 46 year old woman, ha ha!
We met lots of great people. Everyone was so friendly. There were quite a few folks who recognised me from QVC and quite a few whose clothes, handbags, shoes and jewellery I recognised as being from QVC, too! If I met you during our break I’d just like to thank you for being so fabulous to me and my mum. I hope you had a brilliant time, too.
On one night an ABBA tribute band played and I danced my little socks off and sang until my throat was sore. I had lots of inquiries about my dresses/jumpsuits which were from Onjenu, Kim & Co and Ronni Nicole. On ABBA night it simply had to be an Onjenu maxi.
The staff were excellent. Despite eating a vegan diet I was amply catered for. Nothing was too much trouble. Mum’s already looking at our next break away together. I think it’s safe to say she enjoyed herself.
When I returned home it was time to unpack. I realised how much stuff I have! I think I need a clear out, then again, it’s hard to get rid of things so maybe I just need to find a pretty way to store my clutter! Amanda Holden’s BundleBerry Today’s Special Value coming up on Friday may just be able to help with that. It’s three nesting baskets which are soft and pliable. I’m thinking of all the throws, cushions, shoes, hair styling tools and just general bits and bobs I have. Mum would love them, too. She knits all the time and these would be a very attractive way of storing all of her yarns, maybe newspapers and magazines, too. My cats didn’t give me a chance to fill the baskets as they decided they wanted to play with them!
I’ll be joined by Amanda on Friday both in the Morning Show and then at 1pm when we will be celebrating Inspirational Women together. I hope you can join us.
I think glamorous Amanda will appreciate our very glamorous Jewellery Day coming up this Sunday. I’m so thrilled that we are seeing 6 Easy Payments on so many luxurious pieces. How about these beauties? Stunning!
I’d better dash for now but I do hope you have a lovely week and I’ll see you back here next Wednesday!
Lots of love,
