A spot of DIY and food treats galore

Ok, so just like January this month seems to be going quicker than ever. It’s great the days are starting to get that little bit longer with more daylight and although it’s been fairly wet of late it has been quite mild. Hope the weather has been kind where you are.

I’ve had a few days off work and enjoyed being at home. I’ve done a spot of DIY by fixing a door that was coming off its hinges and badly scraping the floor and had some wonderful walks once more with my Cairns. One morning they were covered from head to tail in mud, normally not a problem, but then chose to roll in something very fragrant! I’ll say no more other than they needed a really good bath!

Now if you know me it will come of no surprise to you that I love my food! Well I’ve been a little spoilt recently by my dear friends at QVC. Alison Keenan is a dab hand in the kitchen; we’ve met up on a number of occasions and she always manages to treat me to something delicious. Well I couldn’t wait to try her homemade stew she recently made. A fabulous winter warmer which I devoured. It was a really tasty Sicilian squash and chickpea stew – I need the recipe!

I also met up with technology expert Lee Hohbein. You may recall he spoilt us over Christmas with his divine homemade biscuits and last week he came to the Q with a box full of wonderful cakes! Thank you Ali, thank you Lee 🙂 I wonder what’s next on the menu 😉

As we continue through February there’s so much to look forward to at QVC. This Saturday (24th) is set to be a great day with superb shows lined up. The jewel in the crown for the day is a brilliant TSV from Richard Jackson – his incredible Flower Power. This is an extra special, new formula that includes Bio Active Technology that can help plants use the nutrients in Flower Power even more efficiently. Flower Power has been with QVC for many years and has a fantastic track record. In fact Flower Power-fed plants won 15 gold medals at major flower shows, including Chelsea, in 2017! It couldn’t be easier to use as Richard will demonstrate throughout the day. If you can’t wait until then though, why not

Later in the day I’m on air at 9pm with a three hour Diamonique special. I’m really looking forward to the show and being on air with our special guest Alison.

In the meantime… perhaps I’ll do a spot of baking and home cooking myself!

Take care and if you’re on Twitter it would be good to catch up I’m @mecharliebrook

So was it the door which WAS scraping the floor, or you who mended it and ENDED UP scraping the floor?! Could be either, the way I read it! Made me laugh before I realised what you really meant! Hope you’re involved with the upcoming food fest…I know you and Dale will be fighting over it!

Hi Betty, Yes, you certainly can use flower Power on houseplants. It’s especially good on orchids. Our very own Ali Keenan has shown a pic of her flower power fed orchid was 3ft high in flower and looked amazing, and just today Kathy Tayler tweeted a picture showing how it revived her moth orchid. I’ve told Charlie that flower power could even give him green fingers!

Hi Mandy, I hope the operation went well for Marley. It’s a time when we really worry but I’m sure he’s in fantastic hands. Let me know how he gets on.

    Best wishes
