Trying out the Dyson Airwrap

Something in the air…

There’s definitely a hint of autumn in the air now… and talking of air, more shortly on the Airwrap, the incredible new offering from Dyson that left me and Katy Pullinger open-mouthed with amazement when we did some filming with it just before its launch last week!

Ahhh, autumn. I do love this season, especially the fashion. I went to the Cheltenham literature festival last weekend (we saw a couple of speakers including actress-turned-novelist Ruth Jones of “Gavin & Stacey” and “Stella” fame, who was brilliant) and I decided it was time to dig out my leopard print coat again. I bought it at least 15 years ago in a High Street shop and could never bear to part with it – luckily animal print is hot this year, so my old favourite is back out of the wardrobe! It went beautifully with my Mia Tui “Jackie” bag too, the little cutie that the company very, very kindly named after me!

Another current favourite is this gorgeous dress by Nick Verreos. I spotted it when I was browsing the QVC website and ordered it on a whim, hoping it would be as nice in real life as it looked in the photos. It is! This is definitely going to be one of my festive party dresses this year – glam without being too blingy. I love it.

Now – the Dyson Airwrap! If you haven’t heard the buzz about this yet, it’s the latest beauty tool offering from Dyson, and it’s a hairstyler that took six years to develop. It curls, waves and smooths (and dries damp hair too) all with just warm air and a temperature of just 150 degrees, so it will mean so much less damage compared with traditional straighteners/tongs.

With KatyKatie and I were sent to do some hush-hush filming before it launched and we actually gasped when we saw it in action for the first time. It works in the most extraordinary way, almost vacuuming up your hair and wrapping it around the barrel all by itself. It’s like magic! Here’s a video of the day we did our filming,  and there’s more info here ahead of its launch on QVC on 1st November. Yes, it’s got a hefty price tag, but we were honestly blown away by it – no pun intended!

As the nights get colder and darker, being cosy and warm at home is so important. A couple of bits of good news…first, QVC’s Northern Nights bedding range has 20 per cent off all through October and November. Second, scrumptious fleece bedding range Cozee Home has a fabulous Today’s Special Value offer coming on Friday 19th October. It’s a Velvetsoft Striped four-piece duvet set, which will be available in Silver Grey, White, Charcoal, Navy and Light Taupe. It’s a contemporary looking set with a vertical stripe on one side of the duvet cover and a solid reverse, and two matching pillow cases plus a fitted sheet. I’m such a fan of this range – it’s just beyond comfortable to sleep in! If you get chilly in bed, please give it a try, it’s wonderful.

And I’m excited to be working for the first time with the Shay & Blue team to launch their Today’s Special Value offer on Thursday 18th. This boutique London perfumery is bringing us a 4-Piece Fragrance Collection in a choice of either Atropa Belladonna (a cult classic among London’s fashion community, rich and decadent with dark cassis berries, narcissus and jasmine) or my favourite Black Tulip (imagine fresh flowers combined with white chocolate!). Each collection includes a 100ml eau de parfum, body/hand wash, body/hand lotion and also a mini White Peaches eau de parfum. Perfect as a Christmas gift or an autumn treat for yourself. Just such yummy fragrances – it’s nice to smell nice, isn’t it?

That’s it for now, stay warm!

      Hi Vanessa
I use quite a few different foundations, depending on what I’m doing! In Laura Geller Balance & Brighten I’m medium, in Westmore Beauty I’m also medium, in Becca I’m either nude or olive depending on whether I’m tanned or not and in Nude by Nature I’m champagne – they’re probably my top four at the moment! Hope this helps.
