Sledging one weekend, surfing (well almost) the next!

Pipa with her childrenI just love this time of year when the sun comes out and you know spring is just around the corner! Just last weekend, the sun was beaming so beautifully that we decided to ditch the saturday chores and head to the beach!

I think routine is very important for children and with working odd hours, I'm usually quite precious about keeping it in tact, however, there are ALWAYS times to break the rules and this was definitely one of them!

As we parked the car, I handed the children their wellies. Myles decided he was far too cool in his leather hitops to be wearing them … "besides" (he said) "I don't want to go in the water anyway" (yeah!) Fortunately he eventually gave in and put his wellies on and no joke, within 15 seconds of being on the beach, they were all up to their knees in the water! You could argue the boots were pointless but at least it saved the "cool" shoes!!

This photo you see is with them all emptying their boots of water? I was standing taking the photo with the waves coming in behind me and the reason they are all looking elsewhere is because a HUGE one came and wiped me out … and them too …it was hilarious!!!

At the beachThank goodness for fish and chips and forward thinking as I had dry clothes for all in the car!

    Hi Pip
Looks like a south coast beach…possibly Brighton by the pebbles!! Wet clothes, taste of the sea, fish and chips all make for a brilliant day out and happy tired children. W Wittering has always been our fav and the winter better than summer as there are too many people then!! Like the hair……… Hows the singing going?

Hi ladies, thanks for all the hair comments ….I should have started taking photos from the beginning and documented all the different styles along the way …it’s testing my creativity but we are getting there, some days more painfully than others!!
Sarah yes that was Brighton beach! Great observation skills!! My great grandmother used to live in West Wittering in a house called Winscombe …I think! …funny how that has just come back to me!! We used to visit and I loved it, although I reckon since the 70s is probably changed somewhat!
    Best wishes everyone xx
