Skincare and make-up treats galore

I hope you have survived, even better enjoyed, the recent wintery weather without mishap. I love the way the snow transforms our garden and the countryside but living near the top of a long, winding hill means that it can be treacherous to attempt to go anywhere by car. I stayed overnight in London to make sure that I didn’t miss my slot on the Morning Show, but getting home was a little tricky!

One character who most definitely had fun in the snow was the latest addition to our family – Billy and Mel’s new puppy. Jasper is a gorgeous Cockerpoo and at eleven weeks old and up to date with his vaccinations, he was finally allowed out into the big, wide world for his first proper walk the day after the snow came. He’ll be thinking it’s like this all the time!

We’ve all fallen in love with him – not only is he soft and cuddly but he seems to have a lovely personality. He has his zany moments but he’s generally pretty calm for such a young dog, and is hugely affectionate. He’s the perfect pup!

With all this cold weather we’ve been having, and no doubt the heating up in your home, it’s a challenging time for our skin. If your regular skincare regime seems to be falling short of what you need at the moment, maybe consider trying one extra product that could make all the difference. Abi Cleeve, of Ultrasun fame, developed the popular Skinsense range to help target visible signs of ageing and has recently brought us a brand product as our Beauty Pick of the Month for February. It’s the Anti-Ageing Retinol Concentrate and is designed to help smooth, brighten and firm the look of your skin and to add hydration while you sleep.

Used at bedtime, 97% of women in a consumer perception study agreed that the serum left their skin feeling more nourished with moisture and 93% said that it gave their skin a firmer, more plumped-up appearance.

Retinol is one of the skincare ingredients much favoured in the beauty press at the moment, and was a real winner with our customers last year. This new formulation is gentle – 9 out of 10 women gave it five stars for its skin compatibility – which means it’s a great option for those with sensitive skins. Start by applying it every other night if you haven’t used retinol before, and use a sunscreen in the morning.

That’s how I have been using it and I’ve noticed that the tone of my skin has evened out and there’s a definite improvement in the hydration levels and comfort of my skin in the morning. With a great price, no delivery charge and a 30 day money back guarantee, I’d say it has to be worth a go!

And while you’re allowing it to work its magic, perfect the look of your skin with our brilliant TSV from make-up brand Julep, on Wednesday (235951). Inspired by founder Jenny Park’s Korean heritage, every product from Julep is steeped in Korean skincare traditions mixed with innovation to deliver results without complicated routines. Speedy make-up in the mornings is what we all need.

The five piece collection features a crème to powder eye shadow stick, a fabulous Skip the Blush blush stick, a When Pencil Met Gel eyeliner, an ultra-hydrating lipgloss and the 16 5-star rated Cushion Complexion 5-in-1 Perfector. This is brilliant for quickly building and blending the perfect complexion and with 18 shades to choose from, there is one for everyone. If that sounds too many to be simple, don’t worry – help on how to select the perfect shade for your skin is here and tips on how to make the most of the five ways to use it here.

I’m not a huge wearer of make-up, except when I’m on air at QVC, but this is a range I really enjoy using because it feels so light on my skin. It all blends so easily just using my fingertips, and I like that it contains skincare ingredients alongside the pigment. I’ll be there with Jenny on the Morning Show on Wednesday to show you how quick and easy it is to apply the make-up and at under £30 I think you might be tempted, especially considering the Cushion Complexion stick is usually £21 on its own!

We’ll also see Abi with the Skinsense Pick of the Month during the show, so if you’d like to give your face a treat, make sure you join us!

Take care and hope to see you soon.

Kathy x
