Sitting novel writing in sunny Cyprus and sneaky peeks galore!

Hi! As you may have seen from my social media, it’s very sunny in Cyprus! I’m here for a week’s summer hol and loving it so far! The full blog about it will be next week once I’ve got back, but for now, here are a selection of the pics for your delight and delectation.

Regulars will know I’ve got a thing called ‘EPP’ (it’s a rare genetic condition to do with not being able to stay in the sun – I wrote about it on my website when I found out I had it nearly two years ago) which means I’m happier staying in the shade but I do love a sunny holiday. It’s the brightness, the lovely breeze, beach walks, the fabulous food, being warm, probably the vitamin D being made makes me feel happy too, and of course having a break! I was lucky it was shady occasionally too!

Yoga every morning, a swim every day and I even took my Bodyblade! Got to get in good condition for my annual medical that’s coming up mid-July so it’s very timely. And of course, loving being away from my regular routine.

Next week I’ll be writing more about how I’ve coped in the sun this time – and doing something for the first time in ages – come back next week to see what!

Wherever you’re going, I do hope you have a nice time, and if you’re having a staycation fingers crossed for some more nice weather!

Geller’s Gals’ Baby Chat

One of my favourite guests ever, is lovely Laura Geller, who was here at the weekend for the launch of beauty month. It’s always a pleasure to see Laura. She and I had a brief moment for a catch up before I launched the new Sealy bed. We promised each other that we will get together in New York some point this year – I was going to travel a lot in 2018, but the arrival of grandchildren put paid to that! Laura was chuffed to see pictures of my granddaughter Blake Katherine, now nearly five months old, who enjoyed her first summer holiday with her parents to Mauritius recently. She was pictured on video laughing out loud, rolling up at the funny faces her lovely mummy was pulling. Precious moments and first time memories! Also pics of my Lauren who is now 24 weeks pregnant. And loving it, well almost. Her little tummy is no longer flat, but she is blooming and looking forward to moving to Wales in the summer and giving birth mid-September. Perhaps I will go out to New York after that. Any recommendations when I am there – what is a must-see? Apart from Laura Geller!

With so many sold in the first week alone, better get in touch for your Laura Geller Pick of the Month for Beauty – the super vale supersize of the famous Balance and Brighten. Do click here to see the full demo and buy yours whilst it has no P&P – or whilst stocks last in your foundation colour!

Baloo hallooo

Daughter Lauren is packing up to get ready to move to Wales, to run a yurt and treehouse glamping site with her hubby so I popped over for a bit last weekend – and this little one greeted me warmly! I love Baloo – the original spaniel. And she loves me tooooo!

I must say I really enjoyed wearing this one from Nina Leonard, during the launch of our Sealy bed TSV on Saturday – (the Sealy range is here if you need a new bed or mattress.) It’s a super fit, feels so light and airy – perfect for summer I’m sure. It’s item number 166624 and is a fabulous viscose mix.

Book of the Week

It’s a fabulous author whom I have adopted as one of my regular must-reads – Sarah Pinborough. Her novel, Behind her Eyes was my book of the year for 2017. Well, her latest story, Cross Her Heart is just out and it’s my book of the week over on my website book blog. One of the things I like best about reading Sarah’s books is that she wrong-foots my guesses about the plot twists. And she does it again in this novel about a woman and her daughter escaping her awful past. I won’t say too much as it may be a spoiler, suffice it to say if you loved her others, including the supernatural-esque trilogy featuring a renegade cop in an alternative reality London, then do get this one too!

Other recommendations for fabulous summer reads include:

The Summer of Impossible Things by Rowan Coleman – fascinating time travel story!

Together by Julie Cohen – compelling relationship drama with superb twist!

Dear Mrs Bird by AJ Pearce – vintage wartime drama and cheer!

Three things about Elsie , or The Trouble with Goats and Sheep by Joanna Cannon – fab writing.

Any Jack Reacher, Debbie Flint, Jackie Kabler or Julie Roberts! Lol. Or how about a huuuuge long novel based in the 1500s that’ll last most summer holidays – Ken Follett’s A Column of Fire? Just a few of the books I’ve reviewed over the last year or so. Enjoy!

There are SOOOO many options out there atm, I don’t know where to begin! In the cinema, I’m going to try to see Book Club, soon – can’t wait, actually, with giants of the big screen, Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen and Mary Steenbergen – with obviously appealing subject matter for an author like me!

But hot on the heels of the fabulous TV drama ‘A Very English Scandal’ there’s an actual documentary about it that you can watch on iPlayer – so this week’s ‘watch’ is The Jeremy Thorpe Scandal documentary. It’s by Tom Mangold who amazingly created this programme 40 years ago, to be shown straight after the original trial in 1975, but due to Thorpe being acquitted, Tom was told to destroy it. He didn’t, and an old grainy copy has been restored – plus new material has been added including an up to date interview with Norman Scott, the lover who was nearly killed, who is still alive and well in Devon. And incredibly, news this week that the original hit man Andrew Newton is also still alive… and was found living in Dorking! My old home town! (I could have passed him in the street!) – under a new name of course. Thing is, since the Mail on Sunday’s expose, guess what – he’s disappeared! Lol. Intriguing viewing, as much for the dated nature of the filming, as the subject matter.

This Week’s highlights and sneaky peeks of Today’s Special Value for each day-

Monday – it’s a gardening one with a Michael Perry day including the set of three metallic pull cord lightbulbs with remote, on a buy more save more offer.

Tuesday – on an early bird order link probably from Friday here, Nails Inc. return with a six-piece Let’s Go Flamingo collection with bag set at an unbeatable price for six pieces!

Wednesday – Denim & Co are back with a printed maxi dress, with shrug! Just in time to continue our wonderful summer with a bit of luck!

Thursday – treats for your feet as Vionic bring us the fab orthotic-insole inside the new Tropez Toe Post Sandal design

And watch out at the end of the week for an early bird order link with Tommy the tantalising QVC gardening guest. He’ll sort your lawn out and no mistake!
