Sharm El Sheikh diving

Well, I made it to the Red Sea for a week of sub aqua fun! I arrived on sunday evening and went straight to the boat called Mistral. Once aboard, that was the last time my feet touched dry land for seven full days, and I do mean full!

I thought there would be a fair bit of sitting around reading/chatting/resting etc, but far from it! I was up at 5am every morning so I could dive before breakfast and then eat and wait an hour before another dive, then eat and wait an hour before another dive and so on… even doing one last dive in the dark before dinner and then off to bed about 9.30pm! Completely knackered!

I was great though, a real challenge and an amazing experience. I took my Fuji camera and an underwater housing, but soon discovered that taking pictures (or videos) under water is a real skill and opted to leave it on the boat a lot, so I could concentrate on enjoying the diving!

However, just to prove how much of a rank amateur I am at underwater videography, I have posted a little film as a taster below! We saw dolphins, barracuda, rays, turtles and Nemo so I will try to get some pictures and post them in the next week or so (the kids are well impressed I saw a real Nemo!).

All in all, it was an amazing trip and I met some very nice people and am really looking forward to trying to organise another one sometime quite soon. Although I was in a quandary as to whether or not it was a good idea as a 50th birthday present for me, I needn’t have worried as it was just perfect!

Simon x

    HI Simon,
Just watched your video it was really brilliant, the fish looked really calm as you swam around them.
Looking forward to seeing more pics.
