Had the most lovely break down in Devon this week, when my niece Becky came to stay, helped me set the garden up and do a lot of sorting out. She is a very talented young lady, currently on tour in charge of wigs and make-up for the musical ‘Kinky Boots’, and she is almost like a second daughter, we’ve been close all of her life! Same as my kids with my sister Linda. They are currently in Plymouth, so she was near enough to pop by. She has not visited since the very first time I held a charity tearoom, over two years ago, so it was lovely to have her here. We did so much! And watched telly together in the evening 🙂
We finally set up the hot tub! Yay! And the fire pit. And sorted out the corner of the garden, laying down some anti-weed mesh and bark chips and replacing the doggy kennels to make it look prettier. Not that Daisy ever goes in there nowadays. She is too happy popping in and out of her dog lobby! She is doing okay for those who have asked, since losing her sister Gracie a few weeks ago. She is getting lots of fuss and Nikki my lovely guest this week took her out for lots of walks. And swims! The weather was certainly conducive to being outdoors. We also did lots of gardening. Becky then took full advantage of the hot tub while the sun shone.
And to help you see round it, here’s my Facebook vlog of the week – how do you like the veg patch?! Go here to see it and do follow my page where all the updates happen first!
If I had my own way I would spend lots more time in the garden and courtyard. And grow more stuff! The broccoli was lovely, the broad beans were tasty, and the lettuce was fab 🙂 happy week.
This weekend’s highlights
Today, Friday 12th, we will have shown you the Chair Gym with over 50 total body exercises and three DVDs. Assuming there is some left, click here to see it and buy it.
As well today, Your Zooki, our strong supplements company, brings us an intense version of the current ‘big thing’ that many of you may have heard of – CBD oil. Cannabidiol is the part of the plant that can be sold. This one is 10%. It’s also as you would expect, rigorously tested, and safe and reliable to use. Plus doesn’t taste bitter, rather it has a spearmint tinge, you just pop some drops under the tongue and hold it there for a minute, then swallow. Very pleasant. Why not try some, if you’re in time! Hope it doesn’t sell out too early!
Join Jilly at midnight tonight too as she introduces the new Acer Aspire 15″ laptop with 1TB of storage and an unbelievably low price 🙂 She will be previewing it as usual in the 9 o’clock TSV pre-launch show. Then it is on all day Saturday, including 11pm with me, assuming stocks last.
I am your midnight launch girl this weekend, as I am also doing the Saturday night preview of Sunday’s offer – the latest LAB beauty tool – a very interesting smooth body massager. It’s designed to help with the appearance of your skin on your thighs, bottom, and arms, very interesting!
Then on Sunday night we launch the new Nina Leonard v-neckline, zip-front, 3/4 length sleeve printed dress with an elasticated hem and front pockets. This is one of my favourite designs from this clever brand and… It’s got pockets! It is so good for curvy ladies, especially if you go in at the middle or at the rib cage. Don’t miss it, available in two lengths as well I believe, so join us.
Flick down to the bottom of this blog to see next week’s sneaky peek deals.

The countryside is so lush on my dog walks at the moment, and this week was no exception – just look at these beautiful flowers. Is the yellow one a poppy? Then there were some bunny rabbits or antirrhinum growing out of the wall! As were some pretty hardy geraniums (I think). The flower from the other week was about as well, and it still in abundance. As well as beautiful foxgloves. And tons of blackberry flowers that look very green and lush and healthy. Fingers crossed there is a bumper crop this year – I will make some jam!
A couple of very kind people, Alex and Grant, reminded me of a show I did in September 1990. That is, believe it or not, 29 years ago. Good God. I was 28. I had just had my second child, Lauren, and gone straight back to work after hitting the gym hard! 31 West was the series, on BSB, a nightly entertainment show, and the best job I ever had, that only lasted a little while. But in the September we did a really special weekend all about Doctor Who, called 31 Who. And they have been putting it on new Doctor Who releases. Here are some of my pictures from way back when. I’ve got one somewhere of me with the Daleks. Exterminate! Great memories, thank you guys.
I have to say that when Becky was down she and I excavated my beauty cupboard. She also used the bathroom supplies, including the Elasticizer by Philip Kingsley. She has the most amazing hair, very long thick and beautifully red, but not as ginger as my little grandbaby Phoebe. Bek luxuriated in the garden while she did her 20 minute mask, and afterwards she said that the Elasticizer definitely helps stop the ends being fly away and dry. Don’t miss this month’s Beauty Pick of the Month, on zero postage: a whole litre of their special version with a rose and lychee fragrance – go here to see it!
Also go here to see the QVC Facebook live that Jackie and I did all about Elasticizer and how much we love it, and what we do when we are using it as a mask, last Sunday at 8 pm. It was great fun, even if we veered off subject a little bit, and had some super comments from viewers. #howdoyouUseYours and #mytopfind!
P.S. there is another hashtag that is being used by us presenters nowadays as well – #qvcteam – look out for it!
Book of the Week
I would love to recommend you the book by my guest this week called Amy Kean, which has a very rude word in the title, so I had better not! ‘The Girl Who Gave No…!’ Nevertheless, it is going in our authors’ gallery bookshelf 🙂 But the one that I was very excited to discover this week is a collaboration between Karin Slaughter and Lee Child, both of their heroes in one short story. ‘Cleaning the Gold’ is my current book, and I’m loving it! Until later in the year when the new Jack Reacher novel comes out, this will tide me over. Hurry up Lee!
Watch – Yesterday
Okay well I went and saw the movie at the cinema and I really enjoyed it, once I got past the surreal notion that for one guy the world doesn’t change but for everyone else on the globe, it does, and the Beatles never existed. It’s not really about that premise however, it’s more about the relationship he has with Lily James’ character. She is one of the top actresses at the moment, she has been in so much and seems always very busy 🙂 I was also pleased to see the guy who came to fame in Trollied, playing the same character he always plays, a somewhat simple sidekick. I would have liked a bit more chemistry between the two leads. But very well done and enjoyable. 7.75 out of 10.
Check out this clip of Jackie and the misbehaving bed…
This week on QVC
Monday – the Nina Leonard dress as above.
Tuesday – Skinsense is back as Abi brings us a five-piece Targeted Anti-Age collection, if you are looking for a step up in your skincare, you must give this one a go. Very, very reasonably priced as well.
Wednesday – we are in the kitchen with the Red Copper Five Minute Chef; looking forward to these demonstrations, from Gail Samways and Simon Brown all day – while stocks last.
Thursday – Perfect Formula are back with a seven-piece nail collection, again ridiculously priced, really, really affordable. Many people swear by this and say it makes their nails very, very strong. A good way to try it.
Friday – JM by Julien Macdonald returns with a large lotus flower candle holder in different options. I have three or four of these and they really look lovely with a little tea-light in on the dining table.
And of course we will be launching at 9 pm on Friday, the pre-launch of Saturdays TSV deal, this time from Gtech, the Power Floor K9 cordless vacuum cleaner. My brother in law swears by his Air Ram MK2. So this one will be interesting.
Finally, a heads up for a big beauty deal – on Monday we will be going live with the early bird order link for the Elemis six-piece Rejuvenating Face and Body collection. Lots of people stock up on this and the shelf life is about two or three years on opened, so well worth a look.
It is yoga week down in Devon, and I’m looking forward to getting a nice stretch. Also I have been having a break from working in the Sheepwash shop, but I will do my bit on Tuesday afternoon. Then at the end of next week I get to look after my granddaughter Blake all weekend! I must build up my strength in the meantime… 🙂 Have a nice week, and don’t forget to follow me on social media, including Instagram, just search me and QVC and I come up.
