Eilidh Nairn

Say hello to Eilidh from QVC Style!

Hello, welcome to my first blog for QVC!

So, you may be asking yourself who is the new-ish girl on the block? I joined the QVC team in 2015 and more recently you will have seen me presenting on QVC’s wonderful little sister channel QVC Style, which launched  live on air for one hour a day on Freeview channel 36 in October 2016. I am delighted to host the show every week on various days.

I absolutely love the Style channel as it is all about fashion, new trends and finding that perfect piece of clothing or that accessory to suit you. We spend hours with our stylists and models putting together great looks and then showing them to you – and hoping that you will love them too!

I’ve been doing this all my life; as a young girl I helped my mum in her clothing shop – she was a knitwear designer – and I loved putting together outfits, looking at designs and fabrics and creating new looks. Fashion for me is about being playful and trying new ideas, whether that’s new hairstyles, make up or clothes. You may already have noticed that about me from the many different hairstyles and looks I have on the show.

As you can tell from my accent, I grew up in Scotland right beside the famous Loch Ness. When I wasn’t in the shop I was absolutely passionate and utterly besotted with horses and anything horsey from Thelwell to our lovely little old pony called Sheik. In fact my love of horses led me to become a professional horse trainer for many years.

Nowadays however, I have replaced four legs for a new kind of trusty steed, my bike!

Now spring has sprung you’ll find me riding my bike, jogging or hanging upside down in the air doing acrobatics, which is something I only started doing this year. It’s great fun and certainly keeps you fit!

Fitness is a big inspiration for one of my favourite looks – Athleisure and Sports Chic: the look is about fashion and function and blending basic activewear with everyday fashion. For example take these new gold (metallic colours are huge this spring/summer 2017) trainers from Vionic in the picture on the left below. I put them with a pair of simple wide-fit trousers from Kim & Co, then add a favourite block colour T-shirt in white, red or black and hey presto!

You only need to add one sporty item to create the look. You could also try leggings with Clarks wedges and a little sports jacket then finish the look with one of your favourite bags or a little neck scarf.  Avoid wearing baggy old tracksuit bottoms, cheap leggings and big branded logos – remember the chic element to this look ladies.

In the picture on the right, above, I’m going for a different kind of look. The duster coat I’m wearing is a real statement piece; unfortunately this exact one has sold out but this lovely item from Chelsea Muse by Christopher Fink is a gorgeous substitution, it would also go perfectly with these Biba jeans and Clarks wedges.

If you are a leggings kind of a gal, check out Yong Kim leggings with mesh detail or Assets RHL Spanx – having Spanx leggings in your wardrobe is for me a must – they will be your BFF.

Well, all that talk of sports has made me quite peckish. I am off to put the kettle on for a cuppa to have with a piece of homemade banana bread – got to treat yourself from time to time, haven’t you?

I’d love it if you joined me on my next QVC Style live show, 17th April.

Until then, enjoy playing with new styles, be daring and try something you wouldn’t normally wear – you might even discover a new you!

Hester, how lovely to have a fellow Invernesian watching along. I grew up in Invermoriston and then moved to Drumnadrochit when I was about 14 years old. Its nice to know you tune in all the way from the bonny highlands.

Love the show, great ideas. My only grumble is that the designers only cater for short or regular fit in trousers. I have complained previously about Diane Gilman’s longest length only being regular and now also Denim & Co only do petite and regular. Sometimes I think the models wearing these shorter lengths look rediculous. Why on earth do these designers not do a longer length, I am sure there is a market for the longer lengths. Disheartened

Hi Lorraine, thanks for your message. I am sorry to hear that you have found the length of jeans too short so far. May I ask what your ideal inseam would be? I would be happy to advice on style. We have a super range of jeans here which we can look at.
Look forward to hearing back from you.

Hi Eilidh. I just wanted to say that, being a ‘non-female’ (!) and also not in the least stylish, how much I actually enjoy watching the shows. I have seen you on ‘other’ shopping channels (yes, they do exist!) and have always found your enthusiasm and professionalism when presenting ‘whatever’ to be admired. However, here on the QVC Style channel, I think younhave found your niche. You are, quite simply, a breath of fresh air and my wife is a little concerned that I am ‘trying’ to understand this fashion thing. Hopefully, the ‘powers-that-be’ will realise your full potential and get on the main QVC channel sooner, rather than later. Best wishes for the New Year, your ‘fashion convert’, Alan.

    Hi Eilidh
On one of your presentations you wore a beautiful yellow floral dress, is this one of qvc’s?
Love you on the style channel.

Hi Eilidh I have watched QVC for years and you appeared and the first thing I recognised was your highland accent and then after reading your blog see you are from Inverness and it was so nice for me hearing a highland voice .i am actually from the Black Isle and I also have a love of horses and have been riding since I was 5 and although I am nearly 70 still enjoy horse riding and although I moved to the South of England when I was 18 to train as a nurse I still return to Scotland as often as I can as I still have all my family living on the Black Isle.i will definately be tuning into QVC when you are on air even just to hear a voice from home. All the best Irene
