Saturday Night’s alright…

Two weeks ago a day arrived that has now become an annual marker for me in my calendar: a day that denotes the commencement of my favourite season. Namely, the countdown to Christmas!

I am of course talking about Saturdays, and more specifically, Saturday nights! Every weekend at 8pm on this day we are bringing you our regular show at this time of year, The Saturday Night Show.

It is for me the perfect antidote to all those talent shows and viewer voting programmes, a way to spend a Saturday evening with familiar faces having fun and bringing great gift ideas (which I always desperately need help with!). Please tell me I’m not alone in that?

The structure of the show is slightly different this year. Only one hour in length and with just a single host who changes each week, it has a cosier feel to it I think. We still have a great variety of guests and we have made sure that the fun element is still in there – watch as the presenters are pitted against the guests in the weekly ‘Presenter Showdown’.

It is just for fun; mind you, you might not think it by the way some people (by which I mean ‘I’…) get really competitive about it. We just had our second Saturday Night Show, which Jackie hosted, and I can tell you that just two weeks in to our run and the presenters are 2-0 down against the guests! It’s all good clean fun though (he said digging his nails into his palms and laughing maniacally).

We also have a brand new viewer competition, which requires one of the guests to play on your behalf and to try and remember pairs of images, winning £10 for the chosen viewer for each correct pair. All I can say is that I am glad it isn’t me that has to play that one – most days I can barely remember my own name!

Each week, Will, the Social Media Santa will be part of the show reading out your tweets and messages, ably assisted by the gorgeous Border Terrier, Lola. She is rapidly becoming the star of the show with her laissez-faire attitude (by that I mean she sleeps on the rug for most of the show and isn’t bothered a jot by the cameras and guests – I need to take a few lessons from her!). It’s worth watching if only to see how cute she is wearing a big bow or a Santa sweater!

If you have missed all the fun so far have a quick look at some highlights from the opening show I hosted on Saturday 10th October.

You can watch The Saturday Night Show every Saturday at 8pm on QVC in the run up to Christmas. I will be back in the hotseat hosting the show on Saturday 7th November, so please join me then.

Until next time.

You always make me smile with your quirky comments & fun personality. Lola is cute who does she belong to? I hope she gets paid as it’s an art just laying about looking so cute. Xx

It’s a shame the show is not still two hours as it was an entertaining way to spend Saturday night.
