Ruth Langsford on Easter traditions

Our first lady of fashion, Ruth Langsford, was back in Q Towers recently for a busy day of meetings. We sat down with her to chat all things Easter-themed and may have made a dash to our café shortly after to stock up on chocolate. Readers beware; you may be tempted to do the same after reading this.

QGossip: Tell us about your plans for Easter, Ruth.
Ruth: Easter to me is a lovely time of new beginnings, green shoots and daffodils. I find it very uplifting. It’s also a chance to get everyone around somebody’s table, whether it’s mine, my sister’s, or a friend’s. We’ll always have a big roast lunch, something nice and traditional like roast lamb. I like to cook for the family and my sister is brilliant at puddings and cakes, she’ll always make a proper simnel cake.

QG: Do you have a favourite Easter treat?
Ruth: Chocolate! Easter just says chocolate, and lots of it, to me. You can be decadent and even have chocolate for breakfast. I miss doing the Easter egg hunt now that my son is older, I’m looking forward to grandchildren one day.

QG: Speaking of egg hunts, what are some of your other family traditions?
Ruth: My family have always done an Easter tree, which is quite a new thing here apparently. We lived abroad when I was younger because my Dad was in the army and in Germany the Easter tree was a big thing. My mum would create one from a branch with little ceramic eggs, and actual eggs that we painted as kids. I try to keep up this tradition so I always have one up in my home.

QG: Do you have an outfit planned for Easter Sunday?
Ruth: No, I never think about that until the morning of. I definitely won’t be wearing a bonnet or anything like that!

QG: What are some of the trends/ pieces you’re looking forward to now we’re into spring?
Ruth: I love it when spring comes, I’m so fed up of wearing winter clothes. I’m looking forward to lighter colours definitely, the day you get out of a heavy black jacket and into a lighter blazer is joyous.

I’ve got some gorgeous dresses coming up in my latest collection. You know what, I was so surprised to walk into my dentist the other day and see the lovely receptionist, Michelle, wearing one of my dresses! I completely forgot it was one of mine and when I walked in I said ‘oh you look nice today!’ She turned around and said ‘of course I do, it’s one of yours’! She’s also got a pair of my jeans, and another favourite of hers is her Frank Usher poncho.

We’re glad to see so many of you are loving Ruth’s ranges. Check out the latest on her Ambassador page, and keep up to date with her stylish goings-on.
