Richard Jackson would be proud of me

Actually I think it might be luck rather than skill (and a bit of Richard’s amazing Flower Power) but this year my passion fruit tree has produced a bountiful crop.

I counted nine passion fruit and they are all full-sized (like the size you buy in the shops) and when we have cut them open the colour was amazing and they tasted pretty good.

Richard did warn me that they would be a little insipid in comparison to the ones from abroad but I was surprised as to how sweet and tangy they were.

They go the most gorgeous golden colour when they are ripe (unlike the shop-bought brown ones) and when they get a bit crinkly that’s when they are at their most ‘fruity’.

I don’t think I’ll go into commercial production yet but I was very pleased to see the more unusual come to……. fruition!
