Since my last blog I’ve had a week off, part of which was spent in one of my favourite cities in the world – Venice! My sister Loraine and I gave our mum the trip for Christmas, but we decided to wait until April to actually go, so that we might get some nicer weather. It was fabulous – Loraine and I had both been twice before, but it was mum’s first time, and she absolutely loved it.
It’s such a magical place, and we spent a lot of time just wandering the cobbled back streets, popping in and out of quaint little shops, stopping for coffee (or wine…) and taking photos of the gondolas and beautiful 15th century buildings. The only downside was that it was very, very busy in the most touristy areas like St Mark’s Square, so we tried to avoid those as much as we could and explored the quieter streets (pictured above).
We also ate FAR too much pizza, and had the biggest ice creams EVER when we stopped for a breather near the Rialto Bridge.
Lucky then, that when I returned, I could burn off some calories during my final long training walks for the London Moonwalk!
The marathon night is almost upon us now (it’s on Saturday 16th) and all of Team QVC have been training hard. I did a 20 mile walk this week and felt absolutely fine so I’m confident I can manage the 26.2 miles on the night. Superwoman Kathy Tayler is doing another walking marathon a week before, which is very impressive – you rock, Kathy! We have already smashed our £1,000 fundraising target (thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has donated!) but now we want to raise even more. We have all been touched by breast cancer in some way, and this is a cause very close to our hearts – it’s a cliché, but together we CAN beat this disease, one day.
Another highlight since my last blog was a night at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival. We went to see the BBC Concert Orchestra and the Guy Barker Big Band doing Frank Sinatra classics. I’ve always loved Sinatra – he would have been 100 this year, and it was a fantastic night. The concert went out live on BBC Radio 2 so maybe some of you heard it too?
In my next blog I’ll let you know how the Moonwalk went (gulp!) – and the next day I’m going to see our lovely QVC friend Lulu who’s currently in the middle of her UK tour, so I’ll tell you about that too. I always love working with her, so can’t wait to see her doing her stuff on stage and belting out those tracks!
Have a fabulous week.
Love Jackie x
